The #TakeAKnee movement initiated by Colin Kaepernick and the measures taken by the National Football League (NFL) to handle the situation received mixed reactions from the public. The authors developed and tested a structural model using survey data collected from 698 residents of a Super Bowl host city. The results indicated a positive relationship between attitudes toward the movement and attitudes toward the league’s responses, which in turn influenced league credibility. However, after taking the indirect effect into account, attitudes toward the movement had a direct negative relationship with league credibility. In addition, people who viewed the NFL as a credible organization tended to perceive the Super Bowl as relevant to them and as impactful for the host city. Therefore, sport organizations should develop consistent, comprehensive communication strategies that enable them to maximize a positive synergy between their approach to crisis communication and their approach to other types of communication.

This study empirically examines the relationship between rewards, job satisfaction, Perceived training effectiveness, knowledge transfer and organizational commitment and employee’s motivation in the Public sector of Bahawalpur (Punjab, Pakistan).Our sample was public sector data was collected by using self-designed questionnaires. The sample size was 170 so 170 questionnaires were distributed and only 149 received. Analysis was done with the help of correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Between (0.01 to 0.05) level of significance was checked. The result concludes that there is a significant positive relationship between intrinsic rewards and the employee’s motivation and also there is significant positive relationship between extrinsic reward and employee’s motivation. Job Satisfaction also has significant positive relationship with employee’s motivation. But on the other hand PTE (Perceived Training Effectiveness) have insignificant and negative relationship with Employee’s motivation. Employee’s motivation has significant positive relationship with knowledge transfer and also with Organizational Commitment.

As state- and local-government subsidies to professional sport organizations have increased over the past 3 decades, economic arguments have been crafted to justify these subsidies, such as Crompton’s claims of increased community visibility, enhanced community image, stimulation of other development, and psychic income. The purpose of this study was to examine the public relations strategy of a professional sport organization campaigning to secure public funding for a new stadium. Specifically, the authors focused on the use of press releases by the Minnesota Vikings, a National Football League team, over the 3 seasons preceding the completion of their successful sport-stadium campaign. This study was timely in that these press releases were from 2010, 2011, and 2012 and the new Vikings stadium grand opening is set for 2016. Through a qualitative analysis, the authors identified the arguments made by the team to garner support for the stadium plan during the Vikings’ campaign. In all, 71 press releases were collected, examined, and coded by investigators. Findings are discussed to provide insight into these 4 alternative justification arguments.

This research was aimed at determining the effects of toxic leadership on psychological distress and job satisfaction. Data were collected from among 200 employees who are working in the public sector in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The empirical results through Pearson Correlation found employees’ psychological distress indicating a positive relationship with toxic leadership. Meanwhile it was found that there is negative relationship between toxic leadership and job satisfaction. This study provides a strong evidence that could help the top management and individuals in the public sector to find strategies to prevent a growth of toxic leadership. The communication of emergency information shortly before or after the manifestation of seismic hazards is a crucial part of disaster management. Crisis communication aims to protect, support and guide the public and emergency services throughout the response and recovery phase. In the case of seismic events, a fundamental query refers to how the information to be released to the public immediately after/before the seismic event affects disaster impacts and management. This paper addresses the uncertainty involved in emergency seismic information, identifies the sources, means, content and mode of emergency communication and points to the effects of different models of crisis communication on public perceptions, on emergency responses and, hence, on disaster management. A review of past experiences of seismic crisis communication strategies in earthquake-prone countries, namely Greece and Japan, reveals successes and failures in managing uncertainty, and in building public trust and improving response capacities. The findings include the importance of crisis communication in seismic disaster management, the levels/layers of uncertainty involved in emergency seismic information and how they impact risk perceptions, the public trust/mistrust effect on scientific and management institutions as well as some recommendations for seismic crisis communication strategies to minimize uncertainty and improve emergency responses.

The motivational process of the Job Demands-Resources Model among voluntary and involuntary dismissed employees during the term of notice The motivational process of the Job Demands-Resources Model among voluntary and involuntary dismissed employees during the term of notice This study examines the motivational process of the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Model in a sample of recently dismissed (voluntary and involuntary) Flemish employees (N = 213). Specifically, the relations between three work-related resources (perceived employability, social support, and acceptance of feedback given during the exit conversation) and work-related behavior (in-role and extra-role behavior) were examined. We hypothesized (1) that this relationship is mediated by dedication, and (2) there would be a difference between voluntary and involuntary dismissed employees. The results showed that the resources had an indirect effect on in-role and extra-role behavior, (partially) mediated by dedication. There was a positive relationship and a negative relationship between perceived employability and dedication for voluntary and involuntary dismissed employees, respectively. In summary, the JD-R Model serves as a relevant framework for studying employees’ work behavior and motivational process during their term of notice.

This chapter focuses on the crisis and risk management strategies as parts of health communication processes applied during the COVID-19 era. For the literature part, risk and crisis communication, social media, information disorders, and infodemic are used, and for the analysis, crisis communication strategies of the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Turkey are examined. The findings reveal that the ministry takes several precautions in order to prevent the spread of the virus (like lockdowns, enclosures, strengthening health services, etc.) and to inform the public regularly via conventional and social media.

Social media nowadays can be used not only for interacting with each other, exchanges ideas, and develop new friends, furthermore it can be used to promote and selling products or services. It is also used for musician for sales and promotion of their CD album to their fans through social media, especially for musicians , who choose to be independent with limited budget and distribution channel. One of the musician who choose to be independent is Dua Drum. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between musician’s social media (Interactivity & Sincerity), the tie that fans may develop via social media (Sense of Closeness & Reciprocity), and purchase legal CD album. This Research is using a quantitative approach with gathering 127 responses through online questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Model Equation (SEM). The result of this research is there are a positive relationship between Interactivity & Sincerity with Sense of Closeness & Reciprocity, and also a positive relationship between Sense of Closeness & Reciprocity with Legal Purchase Intention of CD album. The 2 types of exchange relationship perceptions—social exchange relationship perceptions (SERPs) and economic exchange relationship perceptions (EERPs)—constitute the primary concept for understanding individual behavior in the workplace. Using a sample of 581 employees from Mainland China, I explored the effects of SERPs and EERPs on employee extrarole behavior (ERB), as well as the moderating effect of organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) on the relationships between SERPs and ERB, and between EERPs and ERB. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between SERPs and ERB, a significant negative relationship between EERPs and ERB, and a significant moderating effect for OBSE. Theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.

SUMMARY This paper examines whether multiple large shareholders (MLS) affect audit fees in firms where the largest controlling shareholder (LCS) is a family. Results show that there is a negative relationship between audit fees and the presence, number, and voting power of MLS. This is consistent with the view that auditors consider MLS as playing a monitoring role over the LCS, mitigating the potential for expropriation by the LCS. Therefore, our evidence suggests that auditors reduce their audit risk assessment and audit effort and ultimately audit fees in family controlled firms with MLS.
