AbstractThe recent rapid growth of the tourism and hospitality industries raises a question about the quantity and quality of the workforce needed in these sectors. In the tourism/hospitality industry, where most services are delivered directly by employees, competitive advantage is primarily attained through people (employees), who are perceived as an integral component of tourism experience. This creates challenges for an industry suffering from high rates of staff turnover, especially of young employees who leave their jobs after graduation, choosing other career paths. This study presents the job related motivators that students found important when considering their future careers, and investigates the extent to which those motivators can be found in the tourism and hospitality industry. Is the industry able to offer the motivators that will keep the employees willing to choose this particular path? We focus on two groups of potential employees – Polish and Spanish students. The study reveals that both groups generally do not believe that a career in the TH industry offered these motivating factors. We also contrast and compare both groups’ perceptions in this area.

Globally, environmental challenges have been recognised as a matter of concern. Among these challenges are the reduced availability and quality of drinking water, and greenhouse gases that give rise to change in climate by entrapping heat, which result in respirational illness from smog and air pollution. Globally, the rate of demand for the use of freshwater has outgrown the rate of population increase; as the rapid growth in town and cities place a huge pressure on neighbouring water resources. Besides, the rapid growth in anthropogenic activities, such as the generation of energy and its conveyance, release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, warming the planet. Polymer nanocomposite has played a significant role in finding solutions to current environmental problems. It has found interest due to its high potential for the reduction of gas emission, and elimination of pollutants, heavy metals, dyes, and oil in wastewater. The revolution of integrating developed novel nanomaterials such as nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, nanofibers and activated carbon, in polymers, have instigated revitalizing and favourable inventive nanotechnologies for the treatment of wastewater and gas separation. This review discusses the effective employment of polymer nanocomposites for environmental utilizations. Polymer nanocomposite membranes for wastewater treatment and gas separation were reviewed together with their mechanisms. The use of polymer nanocomposites as an adsorbent for toxic metals ions removal and an adsorbent for dye removal were also discussed, together with the mechanism of the adsorption process. Patents in the utilization of innovative polymeric nanocomposite membranes for environmental utilizations were discussed.

Abstract: The industry or restaurant business in Tomohon City has a very rapid growth. The purpose of this study was to analyze the benefits of competency assessment for waiters to ensure the quality of their services while working. The method used is a qualitative research method with a descriptive analysis model. The research was conducted at 10 restaurants in Tomohon City. The results showed that as a reflection or image of the restaurant, it was judged by the visiting guests, which was determined by the competence of the waiter who worked, including the expertise of the waiter in serving customers directly. This is very crucial in giving a good impression or image and giving satisfaction to customers because they feel comfortable. This of course cannot be separated from a competency or knowledge of the profession in providing a table during the service. The results also show the need for competent waiters to have qualifications that are truly recognized in their fields which can be developed through trainings whose credibility is tested and recognized by the Professional Certification Board. Professional certification aims to provide recognition of competencies that have been obtained through learning, training, as well as work experience.

The bloom of banking and fintech companies in Indonesia is marked by the rapid growth of e-wallet users in recent years. The bloom is encouraged by the government by establishing the Gerakan Nasional Non Tunai program to promote cashless society among millennials who are already familiar with cashless lifestyle. There are many factors which attract people to use e-wallet, such as trust, usefulness, and promotion. This research aims to examine the effect of trust and perceived usefulness moderated by the promotion variable on consumers’ preference towards two e-wallet brands—OVO and GoPay. This quantitative research is conducted using Likert scale. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method is used to examine whether each variable has different effect in shaping consumers’ preference. The samples used in this research are active users of OVO and GoPay who are currently living in Semarang. The ANOVA results show that trust, usefulness, and promotion does not have different effect in shaping consumers’ preference. However, they do attract consumers to use e-wallet. This research might be useful to help develop better quality of e-wallet service, security, and utility and build a perfect marketing strategy for banking and fintech companies.

As China progresses, its Science and Technology (S&T) system evolves as well, driven by new aspirations, changing needs and surging resources. With the rapid growth of research and development expenditure and a growing supply of talents, China has been reshaping the global research landscape. The quality of research however has been criticised as less impressive than the quantity. To become a global innovation powerhouse, China needs to reform its S&T governance, funding and evaluation.

With the development of society and economy of China, levels in urbanization and motorization levels are in a rapid growth, triggering a series of problems in socio-economic efficiency and the quality of residents, resulting in the relative lack of supply capacity. From this point, a analytic hierarchy process based on the acquisition of the economic attributes in the whole city's main transport was used to clarify the structure of urban traffic optimization goals ordered by priority modes of transportation in the evaluation system.
