This paper presents a set of information and communication technologies developed with the goal to improve the practice of cued speech. They are based on three-dimensional (3D) graphics and are covering the entire end-to-end content chain: production, transmission, and visualization. Starting from defining a set of potential applications, the requirements of the targeted system for cued speech are set. The research and development path takes into account high-quality animation, real-time constraints, personalization, user acceptability and, equally important, the easiness and feasibility of the deployment. The latter led to a strong orientation toward open standards. The original components of the system include 3D graphics and animation encoders, streaming servers, and visualization engines. The core technology is validated in two real-time applications: a web service for text to animation conversion and a chat service supporting two or more users.

Ambulatory assessment of emotional states as well as psychophysiological, cognitive and behavioral reactions constitutes an approach, which is increasingly being used in psychological research. Due to new developments in the field of information and communication technologies and an improved application of mobile physiological sensors, various new systems have been introduced. Methods of experience sampling allow to assess dynamic changes of subjective evaluations in real time and new sensor technologies permit a measurement of physiological responses. In addition, new technologies facilitate the interactive assessment of subjective, physiological, and behavioral data in real-time. Here, we describe these recent developments from the perspective of engineering science and discuss potential applications in the field of neuropsychology.

Due to advancing information and communication technologies webinars have become a means of continuing education which demands methodological support and standardization. The authors analyze the methods of labor rating, in particular, timing of technological and organizational processes. The factors of time input for webinar organization are defined: i. e. number of lecturers, including those remote ones, various formats and number of demonstrated materials (presentations, video, audio, texts, links), scenario multitasking (for example, polling, displaying related materials, linking, etc.), simultaneous broadcasting to another videohosting  (i.e YouTube). The list of technological processes for webinar organization is presented along with the findings of labor rating as exemplified by the NPLS&T’s experience. The calculations of real time consumed are obtained through the judgment-based method as well as through the continuous timing method. The authors conclude on the rate between real-life and typical timing of webinar organization and the proportion of this time within working hours in NPLS&T.

Information and communication technologies (ICT) have been at the centre of most innovations. With applications in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, it has become prevalent in business, art, and humanities disciplines, among others, as well. Among the potential applications of ICT in social sciences and digital humanities, documentation and reconstruction of archaeological artefacts have garnered interest and resulted in several studies. This is because of the potential inherent in these artefacts for archaeological and historical studies. However, regarding pottery reassembly, challenges are experienced in implementing an optimal solution entailing high standards. Although existing studies attempted to solve these challenges, a high standard solution is still elusive. This article presents an approach to a machine-driven solution that intends to use computer vision and machine learning, whose potential is yet to be felt in pottery reassembly. This investigation, still at an early stage, has profound implications for future studies in pottery studies in general.

Condition Monitoring (CM) is the process of determining the state of a system according to a certain number of parameters. This ‘condition' is tracked over time to detect any developing fault or non desired behaviour. As the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) continue expanding the range of possible applications and gaining industrial maturity, the appearing of new sensor technologies such as Macro Fiber Composites (MFC) has opened a new range of possibilities for addressing a CM in industrial scenarios. The huge amount of data collected by MFC could overflow most conventional monitoring systems, requiring new approaches to take true advantage of the data. Big Data approach makes it possible to take profit of tons of data, integrating in the appropriate algorithms and technologies in a unified platform. This chapter proposes a real time condition monitoring approach, in which the system is continuously monitored allowing an online analysis.

With the development of Information and Communication Technologies, social networking platforms have permeated into every aspect of industries and our lives. This new digital phenomenon brings opportunities for companies to reach and communicate with their audiences in different ways. In the same vein, this revolutionary phenomenon has largely accelerated the rate at which relationships develop and information is shared. It is worth noting that during the communication process there has been a growth in the potency of interactivity, which lays emphasis on conversing with audiences rather than merely communicating to them. This paper draws on the literature developed in various disciplines with the help of tri-dimensional features of interactivity identified as active control, two-way communications, and real-time communications. These three principal dimensions are explored within a Weblog context to provide a comprehensive understanding of the concept of interactivity and its dynamics.

The transformation process occurring in the educational field, which has resulted from the generalized development and application of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), differs from preceding technological revolutions in the amazingly accelerated pace it sets. Reflecting upon the implications of the generalized and increasing adoption of ICT is undeniably important for the present and future of social sciences and, particularly, for the areas of pedagogy and didactics. The new model of Higher Education involves new methods, demands and challenges, where the use of ICT represents one of the basic competences. The present study aims to provide an evaluation of interests and attitudes towards Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in a sample of 224 post-graduate students of the Master's Degree in Teacher Training: Secondary and Upper Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Language Teaching, aged from 22 to 49 years old. The questionnaire includes questions aimed to evaluate different aspects, which facilitate interactive learning: computer knowledge; knowing the value of the Internet; place and frequency of online access; and usefulness of certain tools such as video-film, power point, Moodle, forums, wikis, chats, video-forums and blogs. Additionally, the questionnaire includes a number of questions about the potential applications of the Internet in an educational context. Results showed that all students are familiar with the Internet and that they first got to know it from friends. More important is the fact that most of them consider the Internet as a potential educational resource and not only as a support or reinforcement tool that complements the textbook and they like to use ICT and think of them as useful tools in their learning/teaching process. There are differences based on gender and specialization in the perception of the role that ICT is to play in the university context. In particular, men from the specialization Foreign Language consider that weblogs do facilitate peer-to-peer and student-teacher communication and give less importance than women to the item stating that the families’ socioeconomic level has an influence on our knowledge of the Internet. To conclude, the information obtained from the present study is of interest both for training teachers and for integrating ICT in the academic curricula. Key words: attitudes, ICT, learning, university students.

In recent times, our environment and the way we produce and consume cultural goods and services are changing radically due to the strong influence of globalization, faster communication channels, global connectivity and the implementation of new information and communication technologies. In the conditions of convergence of economic, social, cultural and technological changes, the importance of strengthening creative potentials and capacities to achieve economic and other gains is very much recognized, so new development strategies are needed in this area. In such circumstances, the concept of "creative and cultural economy" is popularized worldwide as the interface between culture, economics and technology. Our world is increasingly dominated by images, sounds, symbols and ideas that create new jobs, wealth and new culture. Because of this, economic development can no longer be considered unilaterally, only through the accumulation of economic capital, but as a three-dimensional space whose dimensions are the size, structure, and the change in the relationship between economic and creative resources. In this paper, the author deals with theoretical and applied aspects of the creative economy development. The obtained results indicate a significant economic potential that the creative economy brings within the European Union, primarily in terms of employment and contribution of enterprises within the creative sector. The research aims to interpret data, describe facts, processes, and objects and empirically confirm their connections and relationships using a descriptive method and a compilation method.
