The teaching of research design and data analysis to our graduate students has been a persistent problem. A course is described in which students, early in their graduate training, obtain extensive practice in designing experiments and interpreting data. Lecture-discussions on the essentials of biostatistics are given, and then these essentials are repeatedly reviewed by illustrating their applications and misapplications in numerous research design problems. Students critique these designs and prepare similar problems for peer evaluation. In most problems the treatments are confounded by extraneous variables, proper controls may be absent, or data analysis may be incorrect. For each problem, students must decide whether the researchers' conclusions are valid and, if not, must identify a fatal experimental flaw. Students learn that an experiment is a well-conceived plan for data collection, analysis, and interpretation. They enjoy the interactive evaluations of research designs and appreciate the repetitive review of common flaws in different experiments. They also benefit from their practice in scientific writing and in critically evaluating their peers' designs.

Research is the framework for the development of human social and scientific progress. Foundations for improved scientific thinking is often established at the post-graduate level where students undertake independent investigations aimed at exploring a chosen topic within their chosen area of specialization. Irrespective of the discipline, institution, or topic chosen, post-graduate students often adopt specific research framework(s) and processes which involves selecting design(s) and data analysis procedure. This seemingly routine task has been the bane of many post-graduate students. This chapter focuses on research methodology involving the selection of appropriate design that aims to establish the general data collection and analyses procedures, selection of a sample from population, and discussion of findings in line with existing literature or controlled observation. This chapter provides suggestions for improving the research engagement process through the adoption of appropriate research design and selection of statistical tool for data analysis.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the content of 33 empirical studies related to student self-assessment in primary and secondary education and have been published over the last decade (2009-2019) in 19 scientific journals classified in Scimago (only articles in journals with peer review system to assure their quality) in order to investigate: a) the research design (experimental, quasi-experimental, non-experimental), b) the research method (mixed method, quantitative method, qualitative method), c) the specific design (pretest-posttest etc.), d) the data collection method (questionnaire, interviews, etc.). According to the main findings most studies use non-experimental design, followed by experimental and quasi-experimental design. With regard to research methods quantitative method is used in all research designs, while qualitative and mixed method are used to a lesser degree and only in experimental and non-experimental design. Regarding the specific design, most experimental and quasi- experimental studies adopt a "pretest-posttest" design, while non-experimental studies follow mainly descriptive design. Finally, concerning the data collection methods, questionnaire is the most common method for all research designs, as opposed to other methods, such as interview or the combination of questionnaire and interview.  Therefore, there is a need to investigate the issue of student self-assessment using experimental or quasi-experimental research design where the mixed methodological approach will be adopted and data collection will be carried out using various research tools such as the interview and the questionnaire in order to triangulate the results.

Abstract: Many elements that affect the mastery of dribbling skills, such as agility andspeed. Agility and dribbling speed can be improved by skipping plyometrics workout andside hop. The aimed of this study was to determine the effect of skipping exercise andhop side of the soccer player dribbling skills U16-17 in SSB PSDM Blitar. This researchmethod using quasi-experimental research design. We describe a perceptual experiment that we have successfully used in Research Methods classes. Students attempt to identify a series of simple cookie cutter shapes using only the fingers and hands (haptic perception). Students read archival studies that have used this procedure, identify confounds, generate and test alternative hypotheses, and present the results. Students described the project as quite enjoyable. They also showed a deeper understanding of research design and were able to present their data clearly. This exercise is an effective project for exploring and practicing critical analysis of existing research, experimental design, and data analysis, as well as data and theory presentation.

The problem of primary dysmenorrhoea is largely overcome by resting and takingmedication. Many ways to eliminate or reduce dysmenorrhea both pharmacologicallyand non-pharmacologically. Management of menstrual pain can also be managed non-pharmacologically, such as giving aromatherapy, aromatherapy administrationtechniques can use a variety of aromatherapy such as lavender. The purpose of thisstudy was to determine the effect of Lavender Oil Aromatherapy on Menstrual Pain inStudents at SMP N 18 Pesawaran in 2020. This type of quantitative research design isquasy experimental design research with one grub pretest and posttest approach. Thepopulation in this study were all students. Samples taken in this study were 31students who experienced disminore when the study took place. Analysis of the dataused using the Wilcoxon test. The results of data analysis and processing found thatthere was an effect of Lavender Oil Aromatherapy on Menstrual Pain in Junior HighSchool 18 Pesawaran in 2020 with a p-value of 0,000 <0.05. Respondents can increasetheir knowledge about handling disminorea by searching for information via theinternet or reading books, so that respondents are not dependent on pharmacologicaltreatment alone.

In advanced calculus learning is needed teaching materials that can help students understand the concept. One of the teaching materials that can be used is by applying teaching materials that contains the problem of understanding the concept of advanced calculus. This instructional material can be arranged with inquiry-based. The research design used is Pre-Experimental Design with One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design type. From result of research, obtained t count equal to 11,8 and t tabel equal to 1,645 mean value of concept comprehension after given instructional materials advanced calculus based on inquiry is significantly better than before using advanced calculus based instructional materials inquiry. Based on the results of data analysis concluded that the instructional materials advanced inquiry-based advanced calculus developed effectively can improve the ability of students' concept of understanding on advanced calculus learning.

This study was conducted to determine the effect of the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual) learning model on the science learning achievement of fourth-grade students. student of SDN 1 Setiamulya District Tamansari. This type of research is the same experiment with a research design using Factorial Experimental design. The population in this research is grade IV SDN 1 Setiamulya District of Tamansari. The sample of this research is all grade IV SDN 1 Setiamulya amounting to 41 students. Data collection techniques are conducted with pretest and posttest test dan data analyzed using SPSS version 21. Data obtained are analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Based on the result of data analysis, obtained significance of 0,793 < 0,05, it can be concluded that Ho in reject and H1 is acceptable. This means that students’ confidence can influence the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual and Intellectual) model towards students’ learning performance in the Grade IV SDN 1 Setiamulya.

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine where there is as significant difference achievement between those who are tought using Sikakimi Media and without between those who are tought using Sikakimi Media who are the topic structure material and to determine the effect size of Sikakimi an students achievement. To achievement the aims, a quasy experimental design was conducted to classes from populations which consists of four classes where choosen as samples though ramdom sampling technique. The sample were X IPA 1 class as experimental group and X IPA 3 as control group. Acoording to research design, with classes were given a set of test before and after treatment. To achieve the first aim, data tested using U-Man Whitney test and to achieve the second data tested using glass test. Acoording to U-Man Whitney data analysis, probality velue was 0,001 which meant there was a significant difference in achievement between both classes. Acoording to glasses test, the effect size score was 0,76 which mean Sikakimi had 27,64% in the medium category. Keywords: Media, Sikakimi, Structure Material
