The weak interlayers in an open-pit blasting bench affect the uniform distribution of explosive energy. To explore the mechanistic influence of a weak interlayer on the effect of blasting, 9 sets of numerical blasting experiments were constructed using the orthogonal experiment method. The degree of bench crushing after blasting, the maximum velocity of the rock mass at 0.05 s, and the displacement of the back of the bench were thus investigated. The analysis revealed that the impact of the thickness of the weak interlayer, its wave impedance, and its location of occurrence on the bench blasting indicated an ordered decreasing effect. Based on this, the evaluation method for the master weak interlayer and the design plan of the specific charge structure were proposed. The evaluated design proposals were verified through both numerical and field tests. The research results will provide a scientific basis to determine a reasonable charge structure of the bench blasting of rock masses containing weak interlayers.

There will be total suspended solids in port dredging, which will affect aquatic organisms and water quality. Therefore, with the Green Port becoming the core concept of port development, it is necessary to consider the impact of dredging on marine ecological environment when selecting dredgers. In this paper, the calculation method of biomass loss caused by dredging is proposed, and the biomass loss is taken as the evaluation index to establish a dredger selection model considering marine ecological environment and dredger performance. The dredger selection model uses the fuzzy synthetic evaluation method based on norm grey relational grade to evaluate and select dredgers quantitatively, avoiding the influence of subjective factors on dredger selection. Finally, the feasibility of dredger selection model is verified by a practical dredging engineering and the results indicate that the dredger selection model can serve as a scientific basis for the construction of ecological port and the protection of marine environment.

Railway noise is calculated to predict the impact of new or reconstructed railway tracks on nearby residential areas. The results are used to prepare adequate counter- measures, and the calculation results are directly related to the cost of the action plans. The calculated values were used to produce noise maps for each area of inter- est. The Schall 03 2012 is one of the most frequently used methods for the production of noise maps. The latest version was released in 2012 and uses various input para- meters associated with the latest rail vehicles and track systems in Germany. This version has not been sufficiently used in South Korea, and there is a lack of standard guidelines and a precise manual for Korean railway systems. Thus, it is not clear what input parameters will match specific local cases. This study investigates the modeling procedure for Korean railway systems and the differences between calcu- lated railway sound levels and measured values obtained using the Schall 03 2012 model. Depending on the location of sound receivers, the difference between the cal- culated and measured values was within approximately 4 dB for various train types. In the case of high-speed trains, the value was approximately 7 dB. A noise-reducing measure was also modeled. The noise reduction effect of a low-height noise barrier system was predicted and evaluated for operating railway sites within the frame- work of a national research project in Korea. The comparison of calculated and measured values showed differences within 2.5 dB.

Organic berry plantations have been gaining popularity among farmers during recent years. Even so, farmers experience serious challenges in disease control management, which is a concern in organic farming. Phragmidiumrubi-idaei (DC) P. Karst is the pathogen responsible for blackberry and raspberry rust disease, one of the most present and active diseases in plantations. The antifungal certified products found on the organic farming market offer the opportunity for an efficient control strategy over plant pathogens in fruit shrub plantations. In this study, 5 natural based products—namely Altosan, Mimox, Canelys, Zitron, and Zeolite—were tested for their fungistatic effect over P. rubi-idaei. The experiments were carried out under laboratory conditions, performing observations over the impact of organic products, used at different concentration levels, on rust conidia germination. Moreover, field experiments were conducted in order to evaluate the efficiency of different treatments for rust control on raspberry (‘Polka’, ‘Veten’ and ‘Heritage’) and blackberry (‘Thorn Free’, ‘Chester’ and ‘Loch Ness’) varieties. Data analysis based on ANOVA tests showed significant differences between the tested variants and the control sample at p < 0.001. Furthermore, LSD test confirmed differences between all substances tested (p < 0.005). The natural products Canelys (formulated with cinnamon) and Zytron (based on citrus extract) have proven the highest inhibitory capacity for conidia germination during in vitro tests registering values of 80.42% and 78.34%, respectively. The same high inhibitory rates against rust pathogen were kept also in the field tests using the same two natural-based products mentioned earlier. In addition, outcomes from this study demonstrated that Zeolite is not recommended for raspberry or blackberry rust control.

With the growth in demand for mineral resources and the increase in open-pit mine safety and production accidents, the intelligent monitoring of open-pit mine safety and production is becoming more and more important. In this paper, we elaborate on the idea of combining the technologies of photogrammetry and camera sensor networks to make full use of open-pit mine video camera resources. We propose the Optimum Camera Deployment algorithm for open-pit mine slope monitoring (OCD4M) to meet the requirements of a high overlap of photogrammetry and full coverage of monitoring. The OCD4M algorithm is validated and analyzed with the simulated conditions of quantity, view angle, and focal length of cameras, at different monitoring distances. To demonstrate the availability and effectiveness of the algorithm, we conducted field tests and developed the mine safety monitoring prototype system which can alert people to slope collapse risks. The simulation’s experimental results show that the algorithm can effectively calculate the optimum quantity of cameras and corresponding coordinates with an accuracy of 30 cm at 500 m (for a given camera). Additionally, the field tests show that the algorithm can effectively guide the deployment of mine cameras and carry out 3D inspection tasks.

Accurately obtaining the posture and spatial position of tea buds through machine vision and other technologies is difficult due to the small size, different shapes, and complex growth environment of tea buds. Therefore, end effectors are prone to problems, such as picking omission and picking error. This study designs a picking end effector based on negative pressure guidance for famous tea. This end effector uses negative pressure to guide tea buds in a top-down manner, thereby correcting their posture and spatial position. Therefore, the designed end effector has deviation tolerance performance that can improve the picking success rate. The pre-experiment is designed, the tip of apical bud is referred to as the descent position, and the negative pressure range is determined to be 0.6 to 0.9 kPa. A deviation tolerance orthogonal experiment is designed. Experimental results show that various experimental factors are ranked in terms of the significance level of the effect on the average success rate, and the significance ranking is as follows: negative pressure (P) > pipe diameter (D) > descent speed (V). An evaluation method of deviation tolerance performance is presented, and the optimal experiment factor-level combination is determined as: P = 0.9 kPa, D = 34 mm, V = 20 mm/s. Within the deviation range of a 10 mm radius, the average success rate of the negative pressure guidance of the end effector is 97.36%. The designed end effector can be applied to the intelligent picking of famous tea. This study can provide a reference for the design of similar picking end effectors for famous tea.

Refining of solar grade silicon by metallurgical method is the research hotspot of polycrystalline field. Slagging method is benefit to the removal of the impurities especially to boron exsisted in the raw silicon. In this study, the influence of the density, the viscosity and liquidus temperature of the slag components on the refining process were discussed, and then the slag system SiO2-Na2CO3 was choosed as the slagging agents. And then the impact factors on the removal efficiency of boron such as the composition of SiO2 and Na2CO3, the ratio of slag to silicon and the refining time were investigated by the orthogonal experiment. The results showed that the optimum parameters of the oxidation refining for removing boron were as follows: the main composition of the oxidant is “SiO2 : Na2CO3 = 60% : 40%”; the slag/silicon ratio is 0.5; time for refining is 60min at 1550 . The results indicated that the removal efficiency of boron was 88.28%, and the content of boron in MG-Si can be reduced to 7ppmw under the best refining process¬.

Facing climate risks has become a common problem for mankind and a topic of great importance for the Chinese government. To thoroughly implement the overall requirements for the construction of an ecological civilization and effectively improve the capacity of cities to adapt to climate change, China launched the pilot construction of “Climate Resilient Cities” in 2017. In this paper, 16 prefecture level cities in Anhui Province of China were selected as the research objects, and the multi-level grey system evaluation method was used to measure the climate resilience of these regions. We used the difference in differences method to evaluate the effect of the pilot policy of “Climate Resilient Cities.” The pilot policies of the “Climate Resilient Cities” showed a significant contribution to the regional climate resilience, and, after isolating the impact of other factors on the regional climate resilience, the pilot policies of the “Climate Resilient Cities” increased the climate resilience of the pilot cities by four percentage points. The pilot policies of the “Climate Resilient Cities” had a significant contribution to the urban infrastructure development and ecological space optimization, as well as non-significant impacts to the urban water security, emergency management capacity-building, and science and technology innovation initiatives.

In modern mining and project construction, how to make use of the explosion energy effectively is the key technology demanding prompt solution at present. The application of air-decked blasting technology has enabled the efficient use of explosion energy, which proves that the air-decked blasting technology can overcome many disadvantages caused by column charge effectively, getting ideal explosion effect. Based on the dynamic finite element analysis software with the material model of Mat-Plastic-Kinemetic, the dynamic stress characteristics and failure mechanism of blast-hole near-field with level soft interlayer are researched with different air-decked charge structures. There is significant effect on the rock at the middle of blast-hole if top-air-decked charge structure with indirect initiation and middle-air-decked charge structure with two ends initiation at the same time. If bottom-air-decked charge structure with indirect initiation, soft inter-layer don’t change the peek of compression and tensile stress curves of typical elements with distance from the bottom of hole, so there is not effect significantly of level soft interlayer on bottom-air-decked charge structure with indirect initiation.

A specific feature of open pit mining of diamond deposits in Western Yakutia is the construction of the open pits in the zone of negative ambient temperatures, which includes thick permafrost rock mass, and which is at the same time complicated by the influence of cryogenic processes on deformation of pit wall benches. The paper presents the comparative analysis of strength characteristics in frozen and thawed rocks, stability of benches during mining, the general geomechanical approach to the determination of parameters of non-mining walls of the ultra-deep open pit diamond mines, and the parameters of nonmining walls and benches. Optimization of open pit wall configuration should primarily be based on the maximum utilization of the strength properties of frozen rocks in combination with the development of new approaches, calculation schemes and methods for assessing stability of open pit walls and benches of unconventional design, including the non-mining vertical benches. The main design characteristic that determines the parameters of open pit walls is the structural tectonic relaxation coefficient, which specifies the calculated value of cohesion in rock mass. For the diamond deposits, the values of the structural relaxation coefficient were obtained in a series of field tests and back calculations. Full-scale tests were carried out both during exploration operations in underground mines and in open pits. The accuracy of determining the values of the structural relaxation coefficient in the range of 0.085–0.11 is confirmed by the parameters of non-mining walls in an open pit mine 385–640 m deep, with overall slope angles of 38–55° and a steeper H 0.35–0.5 lower part having the slope angle of up to 70° with average strength characteristics of 7.85–11.84 MPa and the internal friction angle of 28.1–37.4°. Using the natural load-bearing capacity of rock mass to the full advantage, which the values of the structural relaxation coefficient of deposits show, allows optimization of open pit wall slope design and minimization of stripping operations.
