Collapse of the vault and numerous other safety accidents often occur during the construction process of large-section tunnels. The utilization of a small pilot tunnel and a step reverse expansion construction methodology is proposed based on conventional construction methods to explore safe construction technology. First, a theoretical analysis combined with on-site monitoring parameters was conducted. It showed that the maximum displacement of the tunnel surrounding rock was 0.027 m during the elastic stage and increased to 0.031 m during the strength limit stage. The overall surrounding rock deformation does not have a noticeable impact on tunnel safety. A numerical simulation model of the small pilot tunnel advancement and step reverse expansion method was established. Simulation results showed that the first two excavation steps caused 89.6% of the total overlining strata subsidence, and the use of a small pilot tunnel advancement and step reverse expansion method can enhance the tunnel support. The tunnel surrounding rock was adequately stabilized after using this excavation method and provides the in-situ conditions for expanding the pilot tunnel to the large-section tunnel. The proposed method was adopted in an actual engineering project. It protected the subsequent construction of the main tunnel and decreased construction time, saving construction costs while ensuring safety, reducing construction risks, and improving production efficiency. This research can guide similar tunneling projects.

Highway tunnel plays an increasingly prominent role in the development of high-grade highway traffic in mountainous countries or regions. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the deformation characteristics of the surrounding rock of a six-lane multiarch tunnel under different excavation conditions. Using the three-dimensional indoor model test and finite element analysis, this paper studies the dynamic mechanical behavior of a six-lane construction, reveals the whole process of the surrounding rock deformation process of class II surrounding rock under different excavation conditions, and puts forward the best construction and excavation method. The results show that the maximum displacement rate of excavation scheme III is the largest, and the maximum displacement rate of excavation scheme I is basically the same as that of excavation scheme II. Therefore, in terms of controlling the displacement rate of the surrounding rock, the effect of excavation scheme I is basically the same as that of excavation scheme II, while that of excavation scheme III is poor. In terms of construction technology, scheme II is simpler than scheme I and can ensure the integrity of the secondary lining. Therefore, in class II surrounding rock of the supporting project, it is recommended to adopt scheme II for construction.

Tunnel construction, inevitably crosses the surrounding rock of the horizontal bedded .The construction prone to bring about the accident of the local deformation, swaping blocks even the overall collapse, in particular, before completing supporting and reinforcement. Thus, it is particularly important to finish the anchoring timely. The design and construction methods of the conventional vertical anchoring system easily leads to personnel injured, the quality of construction is difficult to guarantee, etc. In the paper, the construction technology which is we adopted is using the way to unite the bedded wall rock inclined bolt and the vertical rock layers bolt .In anchoring, we optimize the spatial arrangement and the construction time. Simultaneously, we analysis the system which is the paper adopted and the tradition technology by the mechanical theory. The results show that there is the consistent effect between the new technology and the old one. However, the new one is to reduce the construction risk and to ensure the constructors’ safe. In conclusion, the new system has the significance of guidance and reference in tunneling.

Based on the special geological conditions of a tunnel in Qingyuan section of Huizhou-Zhanzhou Expressway, FLAC3d numerical simulation software is used to simulate the rheological properties and instability of surrounding rock in large-section fully weathered sandstone section, and the stability and loss of surrounding rock are analyzed. The deformation of the dome and the face at steady state is analyzed. It is found that: 1) when the surrounding rock is in a stable state, the deformation curve of the dome is smooth. When the surrounding rock of the face is unstable, the front of the face appears ahead. Deformation should be first strengthened on the surrounding rock in front of the face. 2) The arched foot is an important part of the instability of the surrounding rock. In order to prevent the expansion of the collapsed part, the arched part should be reinforced. 3) In order to obtain the limit state of surrounding rock stability, the strength of surrounding rock is reduced, and the strength reduction coefficient corresponding to the displacement sudden point is taken as the safety factor of rock stability around the hole, and the stability safety coefficients of surrounding rock of each construction step are greater than 1.2. 4) The dynamic standard values of deformation control in the whole construction stage are obtained by analyzing the deformation curves of each data monitoring point with time in the corresponding time period of each construction step.

The coal side deformation and sliding can not be effectively controlled by use of the traditional bolt or cable support in the high stress crushed surrounding rock and large section roadway. For solving this problem, the new prestressed truss support technology is put forward, and its supporting principles of roof and two walls are stated. The mechanical model of cable-channel steel truss is established, and then the tensile strength of the cable and the maximum deflection of the channel steel are derived. By way of field investigation, mechanics theory analysis and actual production condition, the scheme is defined and applied in the replacement roadway. Measurement results of surrounding rock behavior show that the coal side displacement is no more than 254mm and the roof convergence is less than 172mm. Apparent economic and technical profits have been achieved.

Carbonaceous slate is heterogeneous and anisotropic, which has a great influence on the stability of tunnel. In this paper, by means of laboratory test, field measurement, and numerical simulation, the surrounding rock stability and plastic zone distribution characteristics of the carbonaceous slate tunnel at different intersection angles are analyzed. First, combined with the Haibaluo tunnel project, Brazilian splitting and uniaxial compression tests of jointed carbonaceous slate are performed. The test results show that the tensile strength of carbonaceous slate is related to joint dip angle. When the joint angle is 0°, the tensile strength is the largest and decreases with the increase of the joint angle. The uniaxial strength of rock decreases first and then increases. Based on the discrete fracture network (DFN) technology, a calculation model is established. The calculation results show that the maximum displacement is 0.45 m, when the dip angle of the surrounding rock joint is 45°. The field measurement also shows that the dip angle of the surrounding rock joint has an important influence on the distribution of the plastic zone. When the joint dip angle is 45°, the plastic zone develops most strongly.

In order to study the quality risk of large-scale clusters of engineering project and makes the characteristic analysis of large-scale clusters of engineering project and evaluates quality risk, the author uses analytic hierarchy process to quantify quality risk factor, and the following conclusions are obtained: (a) Construction management unit that makes the project decision-making mainly controls the QRM, comparatively speaking, it has little control over quality risk when the project is completed and ready to get acceptance (b) In the project decision-making stage, the Construction Technology has the greatest influence on the project quality management. This paper puts forward the suggestion that the influence of quality risk factors should be quantified by associated experts, so as to provide a reference for the construction quality management of large-scale cluster projects.

To solve the problems of the rapid advance of the working face was delayed by complicated working procedure and high labor intensity, and the severe damage of roof bolt (anchor cable) induced by advanced hydraulic support, the deformation characteristics of surrounding rock, and the supporting principle of grouting truss anchor cable were analyzed theoretically by taking the roadway of 3_(down) coal seams 2326# working face in Sanhekou coal mine as the research object; then, the mechanical model of supporting structure of roadway under goaf was established. Based on this model, the optimal supporting scheme was determined, and the active advanced support technology scheme of “advanced grouting truss anchor cable” was proposed to take the place of the existing single pillar. The deformation and failure characteristics of surrounding rock of the working face leading roadway were observed and analyzed on-site. Within the allowable range of reading error, the results showed that the maximum displacement of medium-deep base point and shallow base point of two roadways was 15.2 cm and 10.9 cm, respectively; the pressure value had a more obvious jump increase when the distance between each measuring point and the working face was about 35 m, which means the range is strongly affected by the advance mining, and the area affected by advanced mining was 35 m ahead of the working face. It was observed that the lowest position of roof separation development ranged from 0.71 m to 2.73 m. The separation layer was generally distributed in the range of 0.73 m-2.49 m, and the fracture area was roughly distributed in the range of 0.01 m-0.62 m. Under the condition of overlying goaf, there was a complete stress structure, which can meet the requirements of suspension support.

In this paper, the mechanical behaviors of pipe roof and bolt of shallow and unsymmetrical tunnel in soft rock are analyzed. Through the finite element software Phase2.0, combined with the geological conditions that construction site often appear, the mechanical behaviors of pipe roof and bolt and surrounding rock in the process of horseshoe highway tunnel construction in the condition that surface is soft rock and underground for the bedrock are analyzed. Research results show that: after tunnel excavation in soft rock, surrounding rock near the tunnel is easy to suffer soft-rock large deformation even failure, which needs to timely support;Due to the impact of the unsymmetrical tunnel, the mechanical behaviors of surrounding rock are unsymmetrical, such as the maximum displacement of tunnel around 0.4 m distant from apex of arch ring, the stress is asymmetrical on both sides of the tunnel arch ring etc; In addition, pipe roof can effectively prevent from the displacement of soft rock strata, improve tunnel strength factor, reduce the plastic zone of surrounding rock. This paper provides theoretical basis for the design of pipe roof and bolt.

When large deformation of the tunnel occurred in the swelling rock, the large deformation treatment will not only greatly delay the construction time, but also lead to instability or even collapse of the tunnel. Selecting the reasonable timing for large deformation initial support replacement can solve this problem effectively. Based on the LiRang tunnel, the deformation and stress of the tunnel in anhydrite were analysed by FLAC software after excavation. Then replace the deformed first liner at different vault settlement value. The displacement and stress of surrounding rock were analysed when the model reaches equilibrium state again. The results showed that stress concentration at the arch wall and arch foot of the tunnel, and the stress release at the vault and invert is very large after excavation. If the large deformation was treatment when the crown settlement of the tunnel reaches 90% ~95% of the final predicted settlement value, the tunnel deformation and the final stress state could be in a small value. This study can provide a reference for the treatment of large deformation in the swelling rock tunnel.
