Cassava is one of the main foods consumed by Indonesian people and main ingredients to make tapioca flour. In North Sumatera there is factory that produced tapioca flour to fulfill consumer demand. To be able to meet the needs of consumers and seize market share, the product must have a good quality. Product specifications are a reference for product quality and measured with 7 parameters. The seven parameters include whiteness, moisture content, spotness, ash content, thinness, residual screen, pH flour, which meets the Indonesian National Standard. In this research we use two parameters (whiteness and spotness) to determine the quality of cassava and help the factory to maintain their product quality. In here we use blob and edge detection method in image processing to detect spot and after that classified the cassava by using an ID3 algorithm.

Annual Product Quality Review (APQR) is an estimation prepared according to the Current Goods Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) requirements of different regulatory authorities. A Goods Manufacturing Practice (GMP) ensures that the products are constantly produced and controlled according to quality standards. APQR is not only required for GMP but also required for the quality improvement of the pharmaceutical product. APQR is an evaluation carried out annually to measure the standard of quality of each drug with an intention to verify the constancy of current process and to check the correctness of current specifications and to highlight any trend in order to determine the need to change any drug product specifications or the manufacturing processes or control procedures. It is a written report that is required for every drug, based on the data that was collected in the previous year. It is designed to minimize the risks involved in any pharmaceutical production that cannot be eliminated through testing the finished product. The APQR is globally accepted by the industry and the contents should specify a list of manufactured batches, release data and reviews of deviations, complaints, recall and returned goods. This article gives brief overview of regulatory aspects and regulatory requirements for Annual Product Quality Review of pharmaceutical product. It mainly focusses on the documentation required for the preparation of Annual Product Quality Review. Thus the article is based on the regulatory requirements or standards to manufacture and maintain the quality of any pharmaceutical product.

Solang M, Lamondo D, Kumaji SS. 2017. Zinc, calcium, protein, lead, mercury, and the sensorics quality of cireng snacks supplemented with blood cockle (Anadara granosa). Nusantara Bioscience 9: 385-391. Blood cockle (Anadara granosa) is a potential nutritious food with high economic value. This study aims at evaluating the level of zinc, calcium, protein, mercury, lead, and the sensorics quality of cireng (traditional Indonesian snack made from fried-tapioca flour dipped into sauces) supplemented with blood cockle. This study used complete randomised design, where the treatment factors consisted of flour made from blood cockles to supplement the flour used in making the cireng snacks. The concentration of the treatment factors were 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The data were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA test and LSD test. This study shows that blood cockles’ supplementation significantly increases the level of protein (p=0.05), zinc (p=0.031), calcium (p= 0.016), lead (0.000), mercury (p= 0.022) of the cireng snacks. Supplementation of blood cockles has increased the preference toward cireng’s flavor, aroma, and color by 10%, whereas the level of preference toward the texture of cireng which used the blood cockle has increased by 20% compared to cireng product with non-supplemented flour. The level of lead (Pb), and Mercury (Hg) are below the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Supplementation of blood cockles from Gorontalo in the flour used in making the cireng snacks produced snacks with a better nutrition value and safe to consume. Also, the flavor, color, texture, and aroma are acceptable.

Quality management contributes to increasing the performance of an enterprise through the application of such working procedures which ensure in the end the output required by customers. It also ensures the realization of revenues and profit for the enterprise. Quality is usually studied separately, whereas this analysis is focused on the elimination of conflicts and the resulting costs and inefficiencies in the company. Quality can also be seen in the narrower sense as a quality product which focuses on satisfying customer requirements. It is clear that quality management in the enterprise must lead to a quality product and customer satisfaction. Performance is also usually examined separately using the tools of financial analysis (mainly ratios). What is lacking in research to date is the clear and conclusive interconnection of quality and performance and its parameters. The subject of this paper is the analysis of quality (with emphasis on product quality) and its influence on business performance (represented by selected financial ratios). The aim of this article is to find the level of product quality in a company and identify those quality factors affecting a company’s performance. The resulting interconnection of the parameters of quality and performance should guarantee that the influence (selected parameters) will be reflected in the quality of business performance possible through the simultaneous management of quality control and influence on future business performance.
