In Lampung, many businesses produce mushrooms made from empty fruit bunch (EFB) palm oil, this has a positive impact on companies and communities around the company. The objective of the research is to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the EFB standard mushroom business and the analysis of its development strategy in Lampung Province. The result of the research shows that (1) the development of mushroom industry made from EFB in Lampung Province has the strength of raw material available in large quantities and easily obtained, while the weakness is mushroom is a product that is easily damaged and untreated mushroom waste; (2) the odds are that the need for food mushrooms is still high and tends to increase, while the threat is increasing production and transportation costs and uncontrolled extreme weather; and (3) the main priority strategy for the large business unit is the development of new mushroom processing business and the modernization of mushroom making technology, while for the small and beginner business unit is to encourage business development to reach economies of scale.

Activated carbon fiber is known to posses better properties compared to granular and powdered variants, with significantly higher surface area and higher pore volume. Source of raw material and activation step are two crucial parameters for the pore development of activated carbon. Palm oil empty fruit bunch fiber contains naturally formed long open channels which offer better access of adsorbates into micropores. Chemical activation step typically involves inorganic acids such as phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid. However, such residues of inorganic acids might create unfavourable conditions for certain adsorption applications, if not removed properly from synthesized activated carbon fiber. Additionally, subsequent to the acid cleaning or removal step, most inorganic acids would eventually cause problems to the environment if acid disposal is not properly managed. This paper investigates on the effect of utilization of organic acids acetic acid and citric acid, as compared to commonly used inorganic acids, on the pore characteristics of palm oil empty fruit bunch fiber derived activated carbon fiber.

Utilizing lignocellulosic biomass into valuable products, such as chemicals and fuels, has attracted global interest. One of lignocellulosic biomass, palm oil empty fruit bunch (EFB), has major content of cellulose (30-40%), which is highly potential to be a raw material for fermentable sugar production. In this research, a series of sulfonated carbon catalysts with various concentrations of sulfuric acid (H2SO4, 10-30 v/v%) solutions have been successfully prepared and applied for a single stage of heterogeneous acid-catalyzed hydrolysis over microcrystalline cellulose and EFB under moderate temperature condition and ambient pressure. The catalysts’ physical and chemical properties were characterized by using a Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA), X-ray diffractometer, surface area analyzer, and Fourier-transform infrared spectrophotometer. The characterization results showed that sulfonated carbon had relatively similar physical properties with the parent of active carbon. The hydrolysis activity of sulfonated carbon catalysts gave various Total Reducing Sugar (TRS). The effects of sulfate loading amount in catalyst samples and various ionic liquids were investigated. The hydrolysis of pure microcrystalline cellulose powder (Avicel) using 30%-sulfonated carbon (30-SC) catalyst in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([BMIM]Cl) ionic liquid at 150°C yielded the highest TRS of 16.11%. Subsequently, the catalyst of 30-SC was also tested for hydrolysis of EFB and produced the highest TRS of 40.76% in [BMIM]Cl ionic liquid at 150°C for 4 h. The obtained results highlight the potential of sulfonated carbon catalysts for hydrolysis of EFB into fermentable sugar as an intermediate product for ethanol production.

Islamic bank in Indonesia in the last ten years shows a positive trend is quite impressive, the average asset growth of 30% is well above the average growth of conventional banks which only reached 15%. The other side, if the terms of its contribution to the national banking system is still very small, as indicated by the achievement of market share of Islamic banks until the end of December 2016 reached only 5.30% of the total national banking assets. Regarding to the objective conditions, would need the appropriate business development strategy to boost growth and expand market share, so that Islamic banks can increase their role in national economic activities. Spin-Off sharia business unit owned by a conventional bank is one of the business development strategy offered by the Banking Act. This paper aims to identify and measure the effectiveness of the implementation of the spin-off business unit into a sharia/Islamic banks (Sharia Commercial Bank-SCB) that have been carried out by some Islamic banks in Indonesia. The results show that the growth rate of SCB business activity is better than Sharia Business Unit (SBU), but in terms of profitability and efficiency level of SBU is better than SCB.

The smooth supply of broken stone will greatly affect and even determine the speed and accuracy of the completion of a project. The availability of large stones or blondos as raw material to produce broken stones must be guaranteed availability, for this reason it is very important to have a quarry or land containing blondos to maintain the continuity of raw material supply for the stone crusher business. Purworejo Regency has potential in terms of sand and stone mining. Most of the land consists of rock with a percentage of approximately 60% of the total area of Purworejo Regency. The type of raw material that is owned is andesite with a deposit of mining rock which can be exploited for mining for more than 20 years. Because of that potential, it is very important for PT. X to conduct a strategy analysis before constructing a new stone crusher unit. An appropriate business development strategy is needed. The purpose of this research is to create a business development strategy of PT.X by using the SWOT and TOPSIS methods. Based on the alternatives of the SWOT matrix obtained 8 strategies to develop the company and selected strategic priorities with TOPSIS found that market opportunities are very wide open and immediately expand the marketing network with a maximum value of 1.

Empty oil palm bunches are the largest solid waste produced from the palm oil industry processing. In processing 1 ton of fresh palm oil bunches, 230 Kg of empty palm oil bunches will be produced. Based on previous research, it is known that oil palm empty fruit bunches waste is proven to have a large amount of organic mass such as cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin. Organic content as mentioned is rich in benefits so that it can be used as raw material for making daily needs products ranging from food to complementary products such as household appliances, clothing and so on. For this reason, a study was conducted on the content of oil palm empty bunches originating from waste at PT. Kharisma Alam Persada. The characterization process was carried out using the SNI method 0128911992. From the research carried out it was found that the cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin content were 55.75%; 28.93% and 15.32% respectively. So that it is possible to be used as raw material for processing other products.

The increase of palm oil production produced waste, which has an impact on the environmental burden. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to predict the amount of palm oil empty fruit bunches produced per month in Indonesia to determine the potential of empty fruit bunches management. The predicted amount of the waste is based on crude palm oil (CPO) forecasts analysis that is processed using exponential triple smoothing. Based on the analysis, it was obtained that the amount of waste of empty fruit bunches proved to be directly proportional to the crude palm oil production. The efficiency of mill operation plays an essential role in CPO production and waste generation. However, this study has less variance on empty fruit bunches production since that quantity derived directly from CPO forecasting results based on fresh fruit bunches processed in the mills. Based on the estimation quantity, the management of palm oil empty fruit bunch as a raw material of fertilizer is sufficient to manage the produced empty fruit bunch. The data can be used to consider the waste palm’s potential management in palm oil mills and national scope.
