The Novel COVID-19 pandemic has dissolved the spatial distinction between production/workplace and reproduction/home. With essential services like childcare and public schools either shut down or dramatically curtailed, families have been stretched to the breaking point. Nowhere is the stress greater than among single mothers. This paper presents the results of a survey of single mothers who live alone with their children and single mothers who live in multi-adult households. We focus on three questions relevant to the situation faced by single mothers: (a) Does the experience of having created a support network prior to becoming a single mother mitigate the impact of the pandemic on single mothers? (b) Will the weight of daycare for preschool and school age children lead single mothers to look for new ways to organize their households? (c) More generally, will the antagonism between production and reproduction be altered as a result of the pandemic?

The significance of family structure on the well-being of family members is a major concept to be discussed in contemporary society. There is an impact on the overall well-being of the families due to the lack of major relationships. Hence, the major consequences that lead to the sole responsibility of children to mothers differ among locality, culture, language, etc. This study explores the psychological well-being of single mothers in relation to their role in the family, the major concepts that impact the psychological well-being, the impact of parenting, and the modes in which the single mothers cope up with the challenges they encounter. This is a qualitative (exploratory) study conducted with nine participants chosen from a convenient method of sampling located in the Kandy District of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The sample of the research includes three each of widowed, divorced, and separated mothers. The data is thematically analyzed based on the challenges, the economic well-being, and relationship with the family and the society, the ideologies about the current status, society’s stereotypes, autonomy, the satisfaction to the present life, and their future expectations. The results of the study demonstrated that the responsibility of children, the financial crisis, confronting the society, and lack of emotional dependence to be the major challenges of single motherhood. It further stated that most of them had a strong relationship with their children and the family in comparison to the society, they found themselves to be often treated by stereotypes, and that they preferred autonomy in women. The findings of the study demonstrate that the Government should help them with self-employment, assist in the studies of their children, and conduct certain awareness programs to enhance their lives.

This research-oriented culture and a form of resistance against the culture of power in the novel Teguh Anak Jadah by A.D. Donggo studied from anthropological literature review. Interdisciplinary between anthropology and literature provide new understanding of the phenomenon of human culture in literature. The method used in this study using hermeneutic methods. This method outlined understand the text and the text intended for a review of literature. Hermeneutical suitable for reading literature for the study of literature, whatever its form, related to an activity that interpretation.  In general, the study found a form of culture and a form of resistance against the culture of power in the novel Teguh Anak Jadah by A.D. Donggo. Cultural manifestation in the form of a value system, a system of norms, physical culture, specific rules, politics cultural activities, and the work. Novel Teguh Anak Jadah by A.D. Donggo It also shows the impact of the New Order regime and its cronies make public mindset when it becomes depressed, silent habit deeply ingrained during the New Order government has given rise to a new habit that is easy to forget. Forgetting the role of self, the role of the organization, the role of the family, against fellow citizens of different ideologies.

Th is work has the theme: Relevant considerations for inline teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic in Public Schools in Amapá. It may be considered that the online teaching has been a challenge for the teacher and for the student, because the difficulties a re innumerable: Internet access, cellphone or computer. The fact is that no one was prepared for this situation, nor the Amapá Secretariat of Education, as well as school managers, teachers students and their families. Everyone had to use creativity to develop students’ learning process. Th us, this new modality requires reflection on the consideration of relevance that can contribute to education quality. Th ese considerations highlight the importance and the family compromise at this moment to encourage the children to attend classes; teachers can create alternatives at websites, groups at social media and messengers’ apps; schools to offer tools to teachers and students in this interaction and the State Secretariat of Education providing support to enable the necessary conditions to minimize the impact suffered in relation to the students’ content and learning. Due to a certain part of the students not having access to the Internet, one of the alternatives found was delivering the activities on printed material. Our objective is knowing the difficulties presented during this period of pandemic in online education for the actors of the process and the expected solutions by the Educational System with the schools. Th e methodology used to carry out the work is based on bibliographic research. Therefore, it was found that innovation and creativity was means that the school was able to involve students so that they did not distance themselves, not necessarily using the technology, but making them part of the process and promoting reflection about their maturity in distance learning. From the above, it is concluded the importance of the Amapá State Secretariat of Education, of the school, of the teacher and the family to develop the potential of each student and to prepare them for the development of their knowledge and learning.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic adds to the burden for single mothers. In addition to performing two functions at once, the pandemic forces them to survive difficult situations. This article describes the challenges facing single-mother as well as survival mechanisms during pandemics by phenomenological studies through direct observation and in-depth interviews conducted on single mothers in Ponteh Village. Data showed some of the challenges single-mother faced during the pandemic. First, there is an increase in double burden. One of the additional tasks for a single mother is the increasing burden of taking care of households needs due to their children’s schooling from home. Second, the decrease in income for household needs resulted from the government's mobility restriction policy. Third, the stereotyping of women (widows) that leads to social pressures. Survival mechanisms carried out by single mother during the pandemic are as follows. First, fostering optimism and taking care of each other. Second, using social relationships. Third, downsizing through reduced consumption and food substitutes, and fourth, diversifying and intensifying their jobs. This article therefore adds to the understanding that single mother women are no longer considered women who are unable to take care of their families when in fact they are able to overcome helplessness and difficult challenges.

To understand emotional experiences of the children and identify their  psychosocial  needs    studying their drawings is  one of the  significant methods.Children are an important group  who are  exposed  to violence  in various ways  in the family, at school, in virtual environment, via television, in their country, in health system. Research sample is a group of  10-11 years old girl and boys at public and private school.The violence phenomena  reflected in the paintigs are mostly  experienced  in the  family and among children.In general,  physical and verbal violence are described.In paintings  violence  perpetrators are mostly adult males.  50% of victims are  female, 46,4 % of are male, 57% of victims are children and 39.2% of  are adults. In drawings of children in private schools violence phenomena is mostly pictured at parks and garden area. In drawings of children in public school the violence is pictured in their homes besides park and garden area. The children at public school pictured more tools of violence (gun, knife) in their drawings. The majority of children who draw guns are girls. In drawings of children in public school human figures are stick figures and incomplete, in the drawings of children at private school the human figures are mostly pictured in details. Based on the results we can assume that the public schools in North Cyprus need to be improved academically and in both public and private schools the psychological counselling and guidance departments need to be developed and supported. In this study the analysis of drawings emphasize the children’s perception or experience of violence and also reflect the children’s problems with the adults and give clues about the solutions of these problems. The  gathered results contribute to understanding the emotional and social level of the children in Northern Cyprus.

The Last Song written by Nicholas Sparks is a novel that tells about family conflict that begins from the divorce between the parents and involves their children. The children must face the reality about their parents’ divorce when they are at the age of ten and seventeen. Not only for their children, but the divorce also brings an impact to the main male character, Steve Miller, in this novel. There is misunderstanding at the beginning in children’s comprehension about the causes of the divorce in their family. But after they know, especially the daughter, everything has changed between the main male character and his children. The aims of this study are to analyze the cause of the divorce and the impact of divorce on male male character, Steve Miller, as reflected in Nicholas Sparks’s The Last Song. The writer uses psychological approach to analyse the cause and the impact of the divorce on the main male character, Steve Miller, as reflected in Nicholas Sparks’s The Last Song. The writer also uses qualitative research method. The primary data are taken from the copy of novel The Last Song (2010) in the form quotation, phrase, and clauses or in the form of sentences that are related to the points discussed in this research. While, the secondary data are taken from all the analysis and criticism related to the novel. This secondary data of this research are also taken from some library documents and internet sources. The result of this study shows that the cause of the divorce in Nicholas Sparks’s The Last Song is because the male main character’s wife had affair with the stranger that he does not know before. It makes the communication with his wife is rarely done. It also involves their children and makes the relationship between father and daughter is broken. Not only to the relationship between the family members, but this divorce also give effects to the main character’s psychological and physical states.

When T. S. Eliotfamously called Wilkie Collins's 1868 novelThe Moonstone“the first, the longest, and the best of modern English detective novels” (The Moonstone1966, v), the implication, presumably, was that the “detectives” are the hero Franklin Blake and other English characters who carry out the detective function, such as the family lawyer, Mr. Bruff. In addition to a detective story, the novel has been read variously as imperialist, anti-imperialist, a narrative invested with economic undertones, and as an exploration of gift theory, among others. In all these iterations, however, the underlying assumption has been that the only real “detectives” in the novel are the English characters; it is they who solve the theft of the diamond and work to police it. The Brahmin priests, whose pursuit of the diamond parallels that of the English, have generally been viewed as peripheral to the main narrative; a marginal acknowledgement of the impact that India, in its various facets, had upon nineteenth-century English society. Vicki Corkran Willey calls the priests, tongue-in-cheek, “‘villains’. . . working in tandem with two other imported troublemakers – [John] Herncastle's stolen diamond and the drug, opium” (226). Timothy L. Carens describes them as practicing “dutiful self-renunciation” (246) in their search for the diamond, implying that passivity is inherent in such dutifulness, and Jenny Bourne Taylor suggests they are important only because of their use of “[c]lairvoyance [which] is projected on to them as a form of romantic fascination, [and] which they then internalize and represent” (193). Critics are in general agreement, then, that the priests are not central to the novel, and their involvement in the solving of the crime is minimal. The present essay will refute this perspective and argue that, in fact, the Brahmin priests are central to the narrative and far more active (and effective) policing agents than the English characters.

It's not easy being a mother and a father at the same time, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to look at the communication experience of single mothers during the Covid-19 pandemic, this research uses a phenomenological qualitative method approach. The results of the research are that during the Covid-19 pandemic, many parents have difficulty communicating in parenting where two parents also carry out the dual function of being parents as well as being teachers for the benefit of children who also carry out learning activities at home, single mothers experience negative experiences at the same time. positive experience when carrying out the function of being both a mother and a father at the same time. Negative experiences are felt when mothers have to work for a living and become teachers for children who do learning activities at home, mothers find it difficult to communicate with children asking for educational functions usually carried out by teachers at school. A positive experience was felt by mothers during the Covid-19 pandemic when they were able to share difficulties and children could understand the condition of mothers who had to carry out the role of a single mother. This research is important to do in order to provide understanding to policy makers to consider the psychological condition of the family when they have to follow government policies to stay at home.

  <p style="background: white; margin-left: 0.5in;">This paper seeks to disrupt the dominant narrative of victimhood associated with the single mother family status. There are many barriers and difficulties associated with this status such as economic insecurity and political and social stigma. However, there are also many rewards and possibilities that make this family status desirable and rich with possibilities. Single mother families challenge the dominant paradigm of heteronormativity found within the notion of traditional nuclear family households. Drawing on critical feminist and queer theoretical perspectives and qualitative research from my doctoral studies, I will discuss how participants created a new narrative for themselves and their children. In particular, I focus on single mothers engaged in critical pedagogy and curriculum and community activism to seek connections with others who also viewed their families from a strengths perspective. “Single mothers by choice” establishes itself in its own right as a formidable alternative to dominant notions of the “family”.</p>

Computer-assisted administration of surveys is gaining popularity among many researchers, but the equivalence of this method to more traditional approaches such as using paper and pencil has not been determined for many commonly used questionnaires, particularly among school-age children. This study examined systematic differences in the responses of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to measures of stress, coping, and humor among three modes of assessment: paper-and-pencil questionnaires, computer-assisted self-interviewing (CASI), or a combination of paper-and-pencil and CASI. Participants were 1,245 ethnically diverse children enrolled in public schools in the central region of the United States. Psychometric and score distribution characteristics were examined using item analyses and analyses of mean and covariance structure as a function of mode of assessment. Differences in response patterns, primarily at the scale score level, were documented on some of the key measures. In general, CASI medians and means were higher and correlations among CASI measures tended to be lower than those obtained with paper-and-pencil and mixed mode assessment, and CASI variances were lower. This study suggests the importance of the continued examination of the impact of mode of questionnaire administration when assessing these and other domains of well-being in school-age children.
