Objectives: To investigate the effect of atorvastatin on inflammatory factors, hemorheology, and renal function damage in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN). Methods: One hundred and six DN patients who were treated in our hospital between June 2018 and August 2019 were selected and randomly grouped into observation group and control group, 53 each group. Patients in the control group were given the conventional treatment; patients in the observation group were given atorvastatin treatment on the basis of the conventional treatment. They were treated for three months. The hemorheology indexes (whole blood viscosity, erythrocyte aggregation index, and fibrinogen (FIB)), renal function damage indexes (macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), vascular cell adhesion molecule (VCAM)-1, Secreted frizzled-related protein-5 (SFRP5), and mAIb/Cr) and inflammatory factor related indexes (C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-1 (IL-1), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)) were compared between the two groups before and after three months of treatment. Results: After three months of treatment, the hemorheology indexes, renal function damage indexes, and inflammatory factors related indexes in the two groups changed. Compared with the control group, the whole blood viscosity, erythrocyte aggregation index, FIB, MIF, VACM-1, mAIb/Cr, CRP, IL-1, and TNF-α levels in the observation group significantly decreased, while the levels of SERP-5 significantly increased; the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Atorvastatin can effectively alleviate the renal function damage in patients with DN, reduce the level of serum inflammatory factors, and improve hemorheology, which has a good clinical application value for DN patients. doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.37.5.4045 How to cite this:Li R, Shi T, Xing E, Qu H. This study is to investigate the high expression of miR-365, cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) and inflammatory factors in knee osteoarthritis and their correlation with disease activity. The 94 patients with knee osteoarthritis were selected as the observation group. Controls were 94 healthy people matched according to the age and gender of the observation group. The expression levels of blood miR-365, cartilage oligomeric matrix protein, and the inflammatory IL-6 and TNF-α were compared between two groups and correlations between these indicators and Lysholm knee scores were determined. The serum levels of miR-365, cartilage oligomeric matrix protein and the inflammatory factors IL-6 and TNF-α in osteoarthritis patients exceeded those in the normal control group (P < 0 05), and miR-365 was positively correlated with cartilage oligomeric matrix protein and IL-6 and TNF-α (P < 0 05). In addition, the positive correlation was found between the Lysholm osteoarthritis score and the above factors (P < 0 05). Finally, logistic analysis of elevated peripheral blood miR-365 and COMP is an independent risk factor for osteoarthritis. MiR-365, COMP and inflammatory factors IL-6 and TNF-α are highly expressed in knee osteoarthritis.

Purpose: To investigate the comparative anti-thrombotic effects of saffron and Honghua, and also to explore possible mechanisms in thrombosis based on network pharmacology. Methods: A network pharmacology model was used for bioactive components, targets and pathways for saffron and HongHua via Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP), PharmMapper, Genecard, Uniprot and KEGG databases. In animal experiments, 72 rats were randomly divided into 9 groups: normal control group (NC), model control group (MC), crocetin groups (80, 40, 20 mg/kg), hydroxysafflor yellow A(HSYA) groups (80, 40, 20 mg/kg), and aspirin group (40 mg/kg). Using in vitro thrombosis models and an acute blood stasis model in vivo, the anti-thrombotic effects of these treatments on clotting time, hemorheology parameters, Thromboxane B2 (TXB2), plasmin activator inhibitor (PAI), protein C (PC), protein S (PS), and thrombinantithrombin complex (TAT) were determined and comparisons made for saffron and HongHua. Results: Five potential compounds, 16 anti-thrombotic targets and 27 pathways were predicted for saffron, while 22 compounds, 37 disease targets and 35 pathways were found for HongHua (p < 0.05). Pharmacological experiments revealed that crocetin and HSYA had significant effects on thrombus length, thrombus wet/dry mass, whole blood viscosity (WBV), erythrocyte aggregation index (EAI), clotting time and D-dimer for the high and middle groups. Unlike HSYA, crocetin also had significant and dose-dependent effects on PAI, prothrombin fragment 1+2 (F1+2) and PS and had highly significant effects on TXB2 and TAT. Conclusion: This research provides a systematic, comprehensive and comparative analysis of component, target and anti-thrombotic pathways of saffron and HongHua based on network pharmacology, and also shows that saffron has more significant anti-thrombotic effect than HongHua. Purpose: To determine the therapeutic effect of Xuezhitong capsule in patients with microvascular angina (MVA), and its impact on vascular endothelial function. Methods: In total, 172 MVA patients treated in Beijing City Fengtai District Nanyuan Hospital from September 2017 to September 2019 were selected and randomized into control group which received conventional treatment, and treatment group which received Xuezhitong capsules plus. There were 86 patients in each group. Therapeutic effect, levels of inflammatory factors, i.e., high-sensitivity C- reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin-(IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and vascular endothelial factors such as nitric oxide (NO), thromboxane B2 (TXB2) and endothelin (ET), were determined. Results: Markedly higher total treatment effectiveness was observed in the treatment group than in the control group (89.53 % vs. 72.94 %; p < 0.05). In both groups, treatment reduced the levels of hs-CRP, IL-6, TNF-α, TXB2 and ET, but elevated NO, with better results for treatment group than the control group (p < 0.05). Better optimizations of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TGs), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) were observed in the treatment group, relative to the control group (p < 0.05). Patients in the treatment group experienced fewer (8.14%) adverse reactions than those in control group (21.18 %, p < 0.05).Conclusion: Xuezhitong capsule, when combined with conventional treatment, exerts high therapeutic effectiveness and safety in MVA patients by inhibiting inflammatory reactions, optimizing endothelialfunction, reducing blood lipid levels, and decreasing the incidence of cardiovascular adverse events. Thus, the combination therapy is a potentially superior therapeutic strategy to the conventional approach for the management of MVA patients.
