In Lithuania, the phenomenon of historical reenactment emerged at the end of the twentieth century, around 1990, and coincided with the restoration of Lithuania’s independence. So far, it is unknown how many clubs we have in the historical reenactment field, what kind of clubs they are, and how these clubs interact. Do these activities involve several clubs or are they a part of the global historical reenactment movement? The complex methodology used to answer these questions included observation, participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, media analysis, analysis of Facebook profiles and websites of the clubs, and data processing tool Onodo. The data received covers the period of 2015–2019. Since the beginning of the historical reenactment movement, the number of clubs engaged in historical reconstruction has expanded. Currently, there are 41 clubs, and 13 other organizations act in the field of historical reenactment. The results of the study show that two waves can be seen in the formation of historical reenactment clubs: the first one up to 2002 and the second since 2003. According to the study, historical reenactment clubs operating in Lithuania were divided into four groups: the Baltic period, the Middle Ages, the Napoleonic era, and the Twentieth century. Typologically, historical reenactment clubs can also be classified into activity-specific groups: military, military-craft, craft, entertainment, and other organizations. Taking into account the established social communication network of the clubs (and organizations), it can be concluded that in Lithuania, historical reenactment is a movement that is most noticeable among the reconstruction clubs of the Baltic and Medieval periods.

Historical reenactment is becoming a top-tier teaching tool in the countries of Southern Europe. In Spain specifically, this discipline is experiencing a boom as a heritage education method, particularly in informal settings. This article is the outcome of a qualitative research study of the results obtained from one hundred and fifteen educators from historical reenactment groups. The study analyses the methods used by the exponents of this discipline to teach war in the Middle Ages, specifically in three Spanish castles dating from the 11th to the 12th centuries. It has made it possible to analyse how the educational discourses are organised in relation to Medieval war within military spaces from this period, and how historical reenactment is a coadjutant in the construction of teaching/learning spaces from a heritage education perspective.

Of the many management-oriented theories, concepts and models available, stakeholder theory (ST) is one of the few that has found a firm place in event management and event tourism, both in the research literature and in practice. Why? Because of the vital importance of knowing and managing stakeholders in all contexts, whether it is a single event, a city or destination, or a business dealing with events. The influence of stakeholders cannot be ignored, as they are an inherent part of planning, marketing and management. Once you understand the basics as described in this book you should be able to identify and classify your organization or event’s stakeholders and develop appropriate management tools reflecting your needs. Although the origins of the theory concern a company’s external relationships, it is especially important for events and destinations to consider both internal and external stakeholders. The chapter starts with basic definitions, then goes on to fully explore stakeholder theory.

The article uses the methods of participant observation and ethnographic interviews. The purpose of the article is to study the social composition, internal structure and activity of the historical reconstruction clubs (HRC), using the example of the clubs in Moscow and the Moscow Region specialized in the early Middle Ages, to analyze the key to the successful existence of such clubs and the reasons for their collapse. Most of the HRC exist for no more than 5–7 years. Nevertheless, in Russia there are clubs that have “lived” for 25–30 years.

In the paper, we have a look at one of the most popular and most used forms of protection of industrial heritage today: transformation. Central Slovakia is the region with the most industrial monuments and sites in Slovakia and many of them are more or less aesthetic elements of the local landscape since the Middle Ages. However, except of some popular destinations, Central Slovakia does not belong among the regions with high attendance of domestic and foreign tourists. Several industrial monuments are in poor condition and located in remote places where tourists rarely venture. In this article, we would like to point out transformation and adaptive reuse as an appropriate form of protection for industrial monuments and have a closer look at the potential of rural regions and small towns. As a positive example of a conversion, we analyze the Čiernohronská Forest Railway in Čierny Balog in more detail. We focus not only on its positive economic and aesthetic impact on the surrounding landscape and people’s lives, but also on building prestige and an important position of the rural and unattractive touristically region in comparison with popular and prestigious tourist destinations.

Abstract Background and Purpose: The standardisation and classification of managed events provide a legislative basis to distinguish events managed for tourism in their characteristics and quality. The systems approach to standardisation and classification of managed events is a unique, holistic view of event management quality and event organization in tourism. It enables a clear overview of a researched topic and provides adequate support to design and decision-making. In this paper, we explain the meaning of standardisation and classification for Slovenian legislation related to event management. We present the importance of a systems approach methodology for event categorization and classification as it relates to the quality of event management organization, the quality of staff, the quality of the event program and the quality of event services. Objectives: Provide an overview of events in tourism, related definitions and information gathered from scientific authors, which serves as current systems approach principles with which we want to achieve the desired results, positive changes in legislation; in our case-in the field of managed event quality for tourism through standardisation and classification of events on the national level in Slovenia. Method: A descriptive method and systems approach methods are fundamental methodological principles in our analysis. In the context of a systems approach, we used qualitative modelling and constructed causal loop models (CLD) of the legislative system of events and investments in the events. We also used context-dependent modelling (SD model) in a frame of systems dynamics. Results: We present the most appropriate solution to eliminate our problem or question about how to achieve high quality and unique events within event tourism and with event management, thereby creating added value to an event legislative system. We explain suggestions for achieving triple-bottom elements through well-designed quality standards and classification of events, which leads to an optimal categorization of events. Conclusion: From a systems point of view, event tourism processes, including event management, are systems consisting of people and technologies with the purpose of designing, producing, trading and deploying the idea of an event. It is necessary to transform the current Slovenian legislative system of events and prepare a document which standardizes and classifies events based on systems approach methodology.
