Developing Essay Writing Skills in Elementary School

The article reveals approaches to solving the urgent problem of modern education - the formation of communicative activity in junior schoolchildren. The most important role in this is assigned to a well-developed speech, the formation of which is successfully taking place in the process of teaching primary schoolchildren to write essays. The article presents interesting pedagogical techniques that contribute to the formation of the skills of productive statements in writing in younger schoolchildren: to draw up an essay plan, develop a creative idea, adhering to the logic of the narrative, and also improve the expressive, grammatical and stylistic aspects of speech.

The article substantiates the need for a scientific and practical orientation in organizing modern education, which meets the challenges of the time and the requirements for ensuring the competitiveness of our country, outlined in the “Forecast of the Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation for the Period until 2030”. The possibilities of binary lessons in elementary school, integrating the content of instruction in mathematics and computer science, are revealed. Examples of educational tasks that are aimed at developing the skills of primary schoolchildren to put into practice the acquired theoretical knowledge are given.

This research is motivated by the results of observations which show that the activities and writing skills of narrative essays by Grade IV students of Santaka Elementary School Cimanggung District, Sumedang Regency are still low. This is indicated by the low understanding of students in learning narrative essay writing skills and student activities that are classified as passive during learning. The purpose of this research is to improve the activities and writing skills of students' narrative essays by applying the Concept Sentence learning model. The research method used is PTK with Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This research consisted of two cycles with 23 students. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that the increase in student activity is seen from the average pre-cycle learning outcomes reaching 39%, then increasing in the first cycle after using the Concept Sentence model with an average of 70% and the second cycle reaching 83%. This shows an increase in student activity in learning to write narrative essays. The narrative essay writing skills in the initial conditions reached 26%, then increased in the first cycle with an average of 65% and in the second cycle reached 87%. This shows that the students' narrative essay writing skills have increased in each cycle with the application of the Concept Sentence model.

This research aims at improving the narrative essay writing skills of elementary school teacher education students through Concentrated Language Encounter (CLE) learning activities assisted by short film learning media by employing a quasi-experimental nonequivalent group design. The subjects were all primary teacher education students in West Java, with a sample of 31 elementary school teacher education students in Cimahi City as the experimental class, and 31 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teacher education students in Bandung City as the control class. The results of the post-test research showed that the average skill of writing narrative essays in the experimental class was 81.10, while the control class obtained an average of 66.32. While the test results of the average N-gain difference in writing narrative essay skills with 2-tailed sig were 0.000 with a significance level of less than 0.05. These findings revealed that there was an increase in the writing narrative essay skills of elementary school teacher education students through the application CLE Model assisted by short film learning media. This research is expected to facilitate lecturers/teachers to teach narrative essay writing skills by optimizing all language skills through the CLE model assisted by short film media.

Lack of student interest in writing essays, this happens because teachers in learning do not use innovative learning models, and learning media that interest students. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the use of Think Talk Write (TTW) learning models assisted by monopolistic media on simple essay writing skills of third-grade elementary school students. This type of research is quasi-experimental (quasi-experimental) with a non-equivalent post-test only control group design. The study population was all grade III in elementary school. The research sample was taken using a random sampling technique, with a total of 59 people. Data collection instruments used in this study were simple essay writing skills instruments, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (t-test). Based on the results of the t-test analysis, the t-count was 11.457. While the table with db = 57 and a significance level of 5% is 2.002. This shows that t-count is greater than t-table (t-count> t-table) with the conclusion that the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model assisted by monopoly media has a positive effect on writing skills in simple essays. The existence of this research helps teachers to enrich references to models and instructional media that can be used.

The problem in this study was the low learning activities and writing skills of fourth grade students of Cimanggung Elementary School in Cimanggung District, Sumedang Regency. This study aims to determine the increase in student learning activities, teacher teaching activities, and writing essay writing skills of class IV students using the Think Talk Write model. The instruments used in this study are observation sheets of student learning activities, teacher activity observation sheets, and tests. The purpose of this study is to improve the ability to write essays and student learning activities, describe the steps and processes / implementation of writing essay learning by applying the model TTW (Think Talk Write) learning, and describe whether there is an increase in the ability to write essays by applying the TTW (Think Talk Write) learning model to fourth grade students of Cimanggung Elementary School in Cimanggung District, Sumedang Regency. The research method used is PTK (Class Action Research) with the research design used refers to the model developed by Kemmis and Taggart, namely a spiral model that begins with: 1) planning (planning); 2) action / action (acting); 3) observation (observing); and 4) reflection (reflecting). The research subjects were 30th grade students at SDN Cimanggung, consisting of 15 women and 15 men. This study was conducted for 2 cycles. The results of the study are, 1) The use of think talk write model can improve student learning activities in writing description essays, 2) The use of think talk write models can also increase teacher activities, and 3) Use of think talk write models can also improve student learning outcomes in writing essay description.

The problem in this study was the low narrative essay writing skills of the fifth grade students of the Complex Elementary School of IKIP I Makassar City. The research objective was to find out: (1) the description of the paired story telling learning model in class V of IKIP I Elementary School, (2) description of students 'narrative essay writing skills on Indonesian language class V content of SD Negeri IKIP I Elementary School, and (3) whether the paired story telling learning model influences students' narrative essay writing skills on the fifth grade Indonesian language lesson at IKIP I Elementary School The approach taken is quantitative research type quasy experiment It is in the form of non-equivalent control group design. The independent variable in this study is the paired story telling learning model, while the dependent variable is narrative essay writing skills. The total population of 93 students namely the Va class was 46 students and the Vb class was 47 students. The research sample was 75 students conducted by drawing using the Simple Random Sampling technique with Slovin formula whose error rate was 5%. Data collection techniques using observation, tests and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and inferential statistical analysis using the Statistical Package for Social Scenario (SPSS) system Version 25.0. The results of the study can be concluded that, the description of the paired story telling learning model takes place well because the percentage category for each meeting increases. So that it can be concluded that the paired story telling learning model influences the students' narrative essay writing skills in the fifth grade Indonesian language learning content at the IKIP I Makassar Complex State Elementary School.

This research is motivated by problems in the learning process, namely students have difficulty in expressing their ideas into writing or essays. The formation of words or sentences used by students is inaccurate or inappropriate, as well as the use of punctuation and spelling. In learning activities writing the teacher is more likely to apply teaching writing by prioritizing the results of the process. This study aims to improve narrative writing skills using the scientific method of class VI SDN 07 VII Koto Talago, Guguak District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The method used in this study is qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative research is research that intends to understand phenomena, about what is experienced by research subjects such as behavior, perceptions, motivations, actions and others. The results of the study describe learning using the Scientific method can improve student learning outcomes which initially in pre-cycle only reached 64 who are in sufficient qualifications. In the first cycle increased to 74 who were in qualifications more than enough, after the second cycle, the students' scores increased again being an average of 90 who are in excellent qualification. The increase includes three indicators, namely (1) narrative characteristics, (2) use of punctuation, (3) capital letters. Third, improving narrative writing skills using the Scientific method of class VI SDN 07 VII Koto Talago District of Guguak, Lima Puluh Kot Regency can be achieved due to several factors including teachers and students. Based on the results above it can be concluded that the narrative text writing skills using the scientific method increased, from sufficient qualifications to more qualifications until they were in excellent qualifications. Thus it can be concluded that, through the cooperative method the type of make a match improvement in students' essay writing skills increased significantly from stage to stage.Key Words: escritura de narrativas, métodos científicos
