Implementation of Environmental Approach to Professional Self-Determination of Russian Schoolchildren

The school should prepare a graduate who is able to successfully socialize and be in demand and competitive. That is why the problem of professional self-determination and choice of future profession by students is particularly acute. Training of professional personnel of the XXI century should be carried out in educational institutions with pre-professional training, which is the basis for obtaining quality professional education in the near future. A specially organized environment is needed for the pre-professional training of schoolchildren. That is why the authors turned to the problem of formation of the environment of professional self-determination in Russian schools. The study described the environment of professional self-determination on the basis of early career guidance and pre-professional training of students, which included the following blocks: resources, activities, results. The results obtained in this study can be useful for creating an environment of professional self-determination, early career guidance and pre-professional training of students in educational institutions, which will ensure the emergence of a graduate of a «new type» – a young man with the ability to consciously choose a professional path in unity with professional mobility.

The authors give a definition of the concept of "vocational guidance environment". They describe the stages of its formation, and also present the experience of creating a career guidance environment in one of the schools in the Moscow region. Given the negative demographic trends and the aging of labor resources in most regions of Russia, it is important to curb educational migration away from them. The study of the mechanisms of professional self-determination of schoolchildren goes beyond pedagogical tasks in the field of public administration and regional economy. Psychological mechanisms of career choice and educational strategy building were widely studied during the twentieth century, but the question of the influence of social conditions in a particular region on the professional self-determination of young people remains poorly understood. Solving the problems of professional self-determination of schoolchildren requires the synthesis of personality-oriented and socially-oriented pedagogical approaches. The article examines the factors that determine the professional self-determination of school graduates and analyzes the conditions and patterns of schoolchildren’s professional self�determination, together with the potential of their influence on educational strategy by regional universities. The research hypothesis is that, when providing pedagogical support for professional self-determination of pupils, it is necessary to take into account both their personal characteristics and individual motives, as well as socio-economic factors that determine the choice of educational strategy. The research used comparative analysis, classification, generalization, an inter-disciplinary review of literature and socio-economic statistics, a sociological survey, and expert assessments. The main results are the description of models of professional self-determination of school graduate based on their awareness, values, self-efficacy assessment, and the justification of the principles of career guidance. A survey of school graduates in the Ulyanovsk region in 2018-2019 (n=2075) showed that a significant number of graduates lacked professional plans and knowledge about regional universities and universities in other cities. The study revealed the professional interests of school graduates and their plans for educational migration from the region. School graduates did not justify their choice of a career and educational strategies by their professional interests, but rather on their desired standard of living upon graduation. It established that the quality of education at the university is not a determining factor for potential applicants. As actors in the regional educational space, professional education organizations can have a greater impact on the processes of professional self-determination of high school students. The results indicate the importance of regional socio-economic conditions for professional self�determination of school graduates, their educational strategy and choice of university. The study confirmed that their professional self-determination follows the principles of the Social Cognitive Career Theory.

The article substantiates the necessity to promote the process of professional self-determination of migrant-students. The analysis of theoretical research on the problem reveals the reasons that impedes this process among students in general (insufficient school work aiming at organizing career guidance, the change of paradigms from “one job for life” to the concept of “diversity”), and migrant-students in particular (the influence of external factors, “administrative nationalism”). Some real successful practices during admission campaigns, and the possibilities of using the experience of foreign universities (applicant’s portfolio, structured interview), described in the article, can significantly contribute to the efficiency of the process of professional self-determination of migrant-students. The purpose of this article is to identify the possibilities of the admission campaign to promote professional self-determination of applicants with migrant background. Methodology. The study was carried out on the basis of a set of complementary methods: analysis of pedagogical literature; generalization of scientific information obtained in the course of the study; diagnostic methods. Conclusion. The organization of an admission campaign, aiming at overcoming the problems considering the possibilities of using foreign experience, has a significant potential for providing support for the professional self-determination of a migrant student.

The work deals with the problem of professional self-determination of students in the process of professional training in the universities of the science city. We consider the types of self-realization, present a model of professional self-determination of future young scholars, as well as methodological approaches to building a model and its components. The organizational and pedagogical conditions for the professional self-determination of students on the basis of the cluster approach are presented: the orientation of the educational process of universities in science cities to interact with enterprises, research institutes of the science city, the business community; active organizational and educational position of universities in science cities to promote employment and job placement of students at enterprises in science cities; a combination of various forms, methods of supporting the professional self-determination of students; accompaniment of the educational process with a digital ecosystem for practice-oriented interaction of students with employers and other interested social partners. The implementation of the model in practice will allow students to engage in professionally oriented interaction, including through project activities and interaction through Internet technologies with the world professionally oriented scientific community.

Optimized way to nurture parents’ readiness to guide vocational choice of their teenaged children is considered as a consistent element of vocational guidance potential and is scientifically proved. What makes the paper theoretically important, is the fact that the author clarifies the meaning for quite new concepts, as «family vocational guidance potential», «parents’ helpfulness», «successful vocational choice». Families are classified in terms of vocational guidance potential; several limitations in vocational choices of children in each category of families are outlined and illustrated by pictures and tables. Given the accented challenge of insufficient parents’ integration in vocational choices, made by their children, the idea of pilot testing described here, has been to use capabilities of additional professional education establishments to better preparing parents to the mission of facilitating the vocational choices of their children. As a result of parents-children cooperation, the parents are better prepared and eager to help their children in professional self-determination on one hand, while teenagers make more thoughtful vocational choices, on the other hand. Significant results and conclusions are provided, to prove reliability of researching hypothesis, put forward by the author.

The article analyses the methods and technologies of professional self-determination of students in the US education system. It has been found that the theory and practice of preparing students for professional self-determination has accumulated some positive experience in the development and use of activating career guidance methods and the formation and adaptation of career guidance programs with elements of activation of high school students. Also, the article presents the analysis of basic career guidance methods and technologies in the American high school. Professional self-determination in adolescence for many years has been one of the hot topics of psychological theory and practice. Research in the field of personal and professional self-determination, career choice, continues to be a priority. Professional self-determination is part of the general process of socialization of adolescents, a necessary condition for their success and competitiveness in today's socio-economic realities. And it raises the question of what should be psychological and educational support in these conditions? Problems of career choice are considered on three sides: in the context of the social situation in which there are modern teenagers; from the perspective of adolescents themselves, choosing the profession; taking into account the peculiarities of psycho-pedagogical support of professional self-determination of teenagers nowadays. Analysis of problems leads us to the possible ways of solving them, and the need to build a new model of career guidance.
