This article is a critical analysis of the methodology of press freedom indices of two independent international watchdog organizations, Freedom House (<uri xlink:href="https://freedomhouse.org/">https://freedomhouse.org/</uri>) and Reporters Without Borders (RSF-<uri xlink:href="https://rsf.org/en">https://rsf.org/en</uri>). The author argues that press freedom indices tend to offer us a homogenous view of mass media, which facilitates comparisons between countries by masking significant differences and discusses the challenges of dealing with the difference in the conceptualization of media freedom. As a social scientist, she also brings validity and reliability issues, which are crucial in quantitative research methods, into the discussion.

"Just how many surveys of the world press freedom do we need? One view is that there can never be enough because, every time Freedom House, Reporters San Frontiéres, the International Federation of Journalists or the Committee to Protect Journalists  releases one, the message of media freedom is disseminated. Of course, the counter argument is that the same message loses its impact when so many competing non-governmental organisations announce their various lists derived form different formulae..."

The goal of the study is to analyse whether Chinese Mainland companies were paying higher premiums for similar target companies in Europe in comparison with Europe-based companies during the period of 2000-2013. To determine the difference between premiums paid by Chinese and European companies, two samples were analysed: one represented all Chinese acquisitions in Europe which matched the set criteria, another included comparable European targets acquired by European companies. Quantitative research methods were applied to measure statistical difference in the premiums of the two samples. Results of the research indicate that the average premiums paid by Chinese companies are double the size of the European acquisition premiums for the similar target company in Europe. Significant evidence suggests that premiums of Chinese and European companies for similar targets in Europe are not equal.

This study aims to examine the teacher adaptations related to the stages of the reading process used in the process of understanding the reading of students with mental disabilities according to different variables. A descriptive survey model which is one of the quantitative research methods was used in the study. In 2018-2019, to ensure the research sample, reliability, and validity of the scale, 361 classroom teachers were gathered from 18 primary schools of Meray and Kartay districts of Konya province. It was applied to 93 more classroom teachers to provide a confirmatory factor analysis of the scale. After ensuring validity and reliability, it was applied to 99 special education teachers working in primary schools in Karatay, Meram, and Selcuklu districts of Konya province for descriptive analysis. Scores of male teachers are a little higher than female teachers in the scale of teacher practices related to the stages of the reading process. Graduate-level teachers, who have received training in the scale of teacher practices related to the stages of the reading process, score at the undergraduate level. Yet, the observed difference was not statistically significant in question.

The study was conducted on 51 students who were nottrial respondents and validity and reliability were tested. The results of data analysis show that there is apositive and significant effect of Moral Guidance by Christian Religious Education teachers on the learningdiscipline of the of students in 201 Balige Public Middle School.Research data were analyzed with the following steps: 1) Test requirements analysis: a) test positiverelationships obtained rxy = 0.693 = 0.05, n = 51) = 0.297 thus it is known that there is a positiverelationship between variables X with Y variable. B) Test significant relationship obtained value t =6.734rtable ( = 0.05, dk = n-2 = 49) = 2.021 thus there is a significant relationship between variable X andvariable Y. 2) Test of influence: a) Test the regression equation, obtained a regression equation. b) Test theregression coefficient of determination (r2) = 48.06%. 3) Test the hypothesis by using the F test obtainedFcountt table ( Ftable that is 45,347 2,00 thus H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted that is there is a positiveand significant influence Moral Guidance by the Christian Education teacher on the learning discipline of inPublic Middle School 3 Balige 2018.Kata kunci : Pembinaan Moral, Guru PAK, Disiplin Belajar Siswa

This paper examines the dynamics of informality in the politics-media nexus. The case study of Lithuanian politics-media relations is used to explore an “average” CEE democracy, where informal rules and practices compete with formal rules and laws in defining everyday interactions between political and media elites. The findings, primarily driven by original interview data, suggest that local mass media can be not only the objects, but also the active subjects of corrupt practices. In contrast, foreign owned private media tends to play a largely positive role in diluting informality and boosting the levels of professionalism. Disputing longitudinal media freedom trends delineated by Freedom House and Reporters Without Borders, the paper points to a more optimistic present for media freedom in Lithuania.
