AbstractBackgroundYouth friendly health services (YFHS) are services that attract, respond to the needs of and retain young people for continuing care. This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting utilization of government (GYFF) and non-governmental youth friendly facilities (NGYFF) in Lagos state, Nigeria.MethodsA descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. A total of 543 adolescents aged 15–24 years, between August 1, 2014 and October 31, 2014 were consecutively recruited from 10 (five government and five non-governmental) youth friendly health facilities that had been in operation for at least 6 months prior to the study. Logistic regression was used to determine predictors of utilization of youth friendly health facilities.ResultsOverall, the mean age of respondents was 17.9 ± 2.8. However, the mean age of respondents at GYFF (18.5 ± 3.0) was significantly higher than those at NGYFF (17.1 ± 2.5) (p < 0.001). Of the 567 youths enrolled, 196 (34.6%) had good utilization of youth friendly facilities (YFF) (34% from the GYFF and 35.2% from the NGYFF). Marital status, school attendance, having a baby, satisfaction with visit, perception that information shared was kept confidential and accessibility of the youth friendly services were associated with utilization of YFF (p < 0.05). Confidentiality and access to facilities were predictors of utilization of YFF.ConclusionThere is poor utilization of both government and non-governmental youth friendly services in Lagos, Nigeria. There is a need for both the government and private sector to harmonize resources aimed at encouraging utilization of YFF in Lagos, Nigeria.

The study assessed the factors affecting poultry (broiler) production in Imo State, Nigeria. Multistage sampling technique was used in selecting the respondents. A total of eighty four (84) poultry producers were randomly selected with the aid of well-structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression models. The result shows that majority (59.5%) of the producers were male, mean age was 45 years, mean household size was 6 persons, 67.86% of the producers attended tertiary education, mean years of farming experience was 9.3 years. The multiple regression analysis showed that farm experience, drug costs, farm size and disease occurrence were statistically significant at 10% level of probability implying that these are the key factors affecting poultry production. The major constraints militating against poultry production were high feed cost, lack of fund, outbreak of disease and high transportation cost. The study recommended that the government should provide credit facilities to poultry producers to abate lack of fund and provision of appropriate vaccines in the study area.

Quality in a Hospital Service is closely related to Inpatient Patient Satisfaction in Hospitals in Indonesia. Patient satisfaction is one of the important indicators to control the quality of health services in hospitals. The results of the study indicate that the level of patient satisfaction in several hospitals in Indonesia is still below the standard set by the government (>90%). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the dimensions of the quality of health services with the satisfaction of inpatients at the hospital. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square test) and multivariate (Logistic Regression test) analysis. The results showed that the level of patient satisfaction was 96.6%, this means that the satisfaction level of inpatients in hospitals in Indonesia is good because it meets the customer satisfaction standards set by the Indonesian Ministry of Health (>90%). Multivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between, service, environment and hospital facilities. The results of this study can be concluded that the quality of health services received by atients is very influential on patient satisfaction itself

Background: The reproductive and sexual health of the youth remains a relatively new and sensitive area mainly due to restrictive norms and policies guiding the services and also the access and utilization of youth friendly reproductive health services (YFRHS) among the college youth are dependent on many factors. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional design was used to study 421 youths in selected universities in Nairobi County. Systematic sampling technique was used. Data was collected using a researcher-administered structured questionnaire and Key Informant Interview. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 24.0 and involved univariate and bivariate analysis. Chi-square were used to test the significance of the association between the dependent and independent variables (p<0.05). Qualitative data was analyzed by thematic content analysis. Results: The results indicated that 67.9% of youths utilized counselling services, 42.0% utilized VCT, 24.7% utilized family planning and 12.6% reported having used antenatal or pregnancy services. Utilization for all the reproductive health services increased with age with gender greatly associated with utilization of ANC services (p=0.0001), FP services (p=0.001) and STDs treatment (p=0.002) while age of an individual was associated with VCT services (p=0.0001), FP services (p=0.008) and counselling (p=0.007).Conclusions: Socio-demographic factors influence utilization of YFRHS and therefore there is a need for the Government through the Ministry of Health and partners in health service provision to increase the number of YFRHS and ensure that the recommendations of Adolescent Health Policy guidelines are implemented fully with good evaluation strategies in place.

The study engaged a phenomenological approach that characterized human experiences, and mainly to observe the behavioral response of people involved in this research. Also, it uses a purposive sampling technique that involves handpicking participants based on pre-selected criteria. The results gained specified themes through the use of thematic analysis. Based on the identified results, there were four themes introduced in the study that encompasses the problem; and the four themes that were mentioned were Financial Barriers, Structural Barriers, Cognitive Barriers, and Psychological Barriers. Each theme has sub-themes that mimic the problem of the community to the medical society within its access to health services. With regards to this result, the researchers came up with certifying alternatives that would develop the governments’ capabilities in giving quality to health services. It was determined that people should be able to comprehend the barriers hindering them to access the health services. Thus, they should commit themselves on appealing an effective communication to the government. The lingering biases and prejudices of medical experts to the remote communities should be dissipated instantly to avoid future complications. In this similar way, the two should submit to an organized and to an effective stabilized relationship for a better response.
