There was a question in the public whether the triangular shape was adequate to be used as a mosque building. This paper propose answers with the analitical descriptive to understand the symbolical meaning of triangle shape used Sundanese community culture, one of  Indonesian ethnics as representation. The paper used comparation and interpretation method to reveals the meaning of triangle shape in local culture and to find the connection to triangle shape in contemporary mosques architecture. The vernacular mosques in Indonesia known with their pyramid shape stacked roof with pointed roof in the peak. The pointed roof derived from the mountain that believed as the sacred place and used as symbol in the form of stacked roof of mosque. The finding of this paper is that triangular form can be accepted as mosque architectural form for the symbolical meaning derived from Sundanese culture. In the two mosques, this triangle shape enlarged and become praying room and as bridge to the God realm. The shape then achieved two purpose, as symbol of holy place and also fullfiled the function of praying room.

Abstract- Many of high-rise office buildings in Indonesia applies efficiency and effectivity of building form, cost, and time for construction as a number one priority. As a result, high-rise office buildings appears with aminimum-articulated form, and show the dominance by using glass materials as a facade. However, there arealso high-rise office buildings that have an articulated form and its facades that are not dominated by glass, although they appear in small numbers. Wisma Dharmala Sakti Jakarta and Wisma Dharmala Sakti Surabayaare one of them. Moreover, both buildings were designed by foreign architect, Paul Rudolph. Based on thepotentials of both buildings, this research focused on Paul Rudolph’s principles in designing high-rise officebuildings in Wisma Dharmala Sakti Jakarta and Wisma Dharmala Sakti SurabayaLooking at the phenomena of high-rise office buildings in Indonesia as described earlier, this smallnumber and the articulated form of high-rise office buildings designed by Paul Rudolph in Indonesia areinteresting to be understood even more. The main purpose of this research is to reveal the relationship betweenPaul Rudolph’s design principles with buildings, which are Wisma Dharmala Sakti Jakarta and WismaDharmala Sakti Surabaya.Using an interpretative method in a qualitative research, this research utilized theories that helpsunderstanding of an office building, theories that related to Paul Rudolph’s background and common thoughtabout architecture, and also Paul Rudolph’s theory about determinants of architectural form as a literaturestudy. Building’s Anatomy Theory is used as a surgical tool to disect the study cases, which happens to beWisma Dharmala Sakti Jakarta and Wisma Dharmala Sakti Surabaya.Result of this research are six points of Paul Rudolph’s principles in designing high-rise office buildingwhich are: repetition, space, scale, rotation, light, and context. Implementation of Paul Rudolph’s designprinciples in both study cases can be seen in the dominance of rotation and repetition of building elements. Theapplication of these two principles can fulfill all the three aspects of Paul Rudolph’s design ideal, which areform, context, and cycle.Benefit of this research is to enrich architectural vocabulary about design principles of a high-riseoffice buildings in Indonesia for the concerned educational institution, as a consideration and input toarchitects and the stakeholders to be more sensitive and critical in designing high-rise buildings in Indonesia,as a reference and study case about design principles of a high-rise office buildings for students, academics, architects, and the public with the focus of study concerned, and enrich the knowledge about Paul Rudolph’sdesign principles especially in designing high-rise office buildings in Indonesia for researcher. Keywords: Paul Rudolph, Design Principles, Office, Wisma Dharmala Sakti Jakarta, Wisma Dharmala SaktiSurabaya.

Railways are a mode of transportation that is being liked by the public because of its efficiency. The train has its own road in the form of rails, it doesn’t mean the train doesn’t intersect other transportation. The train crossing is a conflict area for public road users with train. This includes train crossing at Kenjeran street. The kenjeran street itself is a national road that is quite strategic because it is one of the accesses to the Surabaya-Madura toll road. The research this time aims to find out the security aspects that must be improved at the train crossing kenjeran street. Including rider behaviour at the time of the train crossing. The method used for this research is direct observation of the field and also shares questionnaires to find out if a public road user understands regulations while on a train crossing. The research results of many signs or road markers are incomplete so that many road users do not know that in front of the train crossing. Other public road user behaviour is also a lot of offense.

With the rapid development of urbanization worldwide, there is a large volume of neighborhoods that need to be renewed with various problems such as poor building performance, few public facilities, congested road traffic, unequal living standards, disappearing community culture, and deprived environments. Performance evaluations are considered to be useful tools for ensuring the outcomes of sustainable renewal. Although many research works have assessed the performances of urban renewal projects, evaluations, especially for neighborhood renewal projects, are often overlooked. Besides, it is also hard to find a general standard that is suitable for evaluating the performance of any neighborhood renewal project with a lack of related regulations or codes. Thus, this paper intends to build a framework to assess the relative performances of multiple neighborhood renewal projects through a hybrid AHP-TOPSIS method. A case study in Nanjing, China, is used to show how this framework could be applied to decision-making in order to pursue sustainable neighborhood renewal. The results are expected to provide references for sustainable renewal in each neighborhood. Suggestions related to the findings are proposed to further improve the performances of neighborhood renewal projects, such as establishing a multiple principle–agent framework, providing a sustainable funding system from both the public and private sector, and implementing multiprogram management measures.

Star Trek began as a 1960s television series led by a swashbuckling starship Captain, an intellectual off-world first officer, and a multicultural, heart-of-gold crew. In the third of a century since its appearance on our home screens, the series Gene Roddenberry created has become a world-wide phenomenon.Star Trek is also a rich treasure trove of administrative literature: The setting — usually a starship, sometimes a planetary government organization. The characters are clearly delineated, colorful, share common goals, distinguish between their personal and professional roles and concerns, and serve well as archetypes for distinct organizational personalities. And the missions are clear, benevolent, in the public interest, and frequently controversial. As you watch an episode of one of the four Star Trek series, how many of these facets can you observe? That’s public administration, all right, but in a very different wrapper

Perceptions of government and civil servants are shaped by a variety of factors including popular culture. In the public administration literature the significant role that film and other narrative forms have on citizens’ perceptions is duly noted, and there is ample research on politicians and military heroes in film, but a focus on civil servants remains largely elusive. Among the sparse literature centered on civil servants are studies that employ a case study approach or focus on a few films. In contrast, our research employs a large sample of 150 films. These films comprise the top ten box-office grossing films from 1992 through 2006; therefore we examine the films most likely to have been seen by a majority of movie-watching Americans. More than 60 percent of the films in our sample portray government as bad, inefficient, and incompetent. However, the data on more than 300 civil servants yield intriguing findings. Surprising, in light of the negative depiction of government, is the positive depiction of individual civil servants. Half of civil servants were positively portrayed, and only 40 percent were negatively depicted. Americans may view government negatively, but they see in film positive depictions of how individual civil servants can and do make a positive difference.
