Background : The children are a nation's investment, because they are the next generation of the nation. The quality of the nation in the future is determined by the quality of children today. Indonesia and other developing countries in general are still dominated by four major nutritional problemsObjective : This research aimed to analyze prevalence of anemia, breakfast habits, nutritional status in school children and compare two childhood education centers located in public and private school in Kupang City, East Nusa TenggaraMethods : This research used 645 were included in this cross sectional study and was done in March until May 2017. The subjects were fourth, fifth and sixth grade of elementary of public school (SD bertingkat Kelapa Lima 1, SD Inpres Bakunase) and private school (SD Asumta, SD GMIT Naioni, SDI Maulafa dan SDK Don Bosco 3). Breakfast habits data were collected by filling questionnaire; nutritional status was estimated by BMI/Age , Height/Age which weight and height of subjects were measured directly; and anemia status was estimated by hemoglobin test/hemocue. The frequency of breakfast is determined based on always breakfast and no breakfast and the sample usually consume breakfast before 7 am.Result : Compare two childhood education centre was Significant differences between public and private schools were found in nutritional status variables with height for age indicators and on breakfast habits. The prevalence of anemia in elementary school children in Kupang by 27% which is measured by blood hemoglobin levels. Contribution of great family, gender and age in students were higher with regular breakfast. The difference in the variable nutritional status with height for age indicator with a value of p = 0.034 and breakfast habits with a value of p = 0.002Conclusion : The differences in breakfast habits in public and private elementary school children are thought by the role of teachers in schools and breakfast habits can help improve nutritional status and blood hemoglobin levels

Anthropometric Wall Chart (AWC) TB/U is a tool developed to screen nutritional status that is easy and fast to use for children aged 6-12 years in the population. The accuracy of the tool in measuring stunting can be seen from its validity. This study aims to get the validity of AWC in 3 (three) cities representing the West (Medan), Central (Bandung) and East (Kupang), Indonesia so that the results could be used for stunting screening of elementary school children wider coverage. The study was conducted in a cross-sectional manner with a sample of 270 elementary students from grade 1 to grade 6 in 3 cities (Medan, Kupang, and Bandung) whose nutritional status was measured by using AWC TB / U and TB / U index using microtoise. The results of the study of the use of AWC in Medan showed that there were 20 (22.2%) stunting children, with Se value of 68.8% and Sp value of 87.8%, PPV 55%, and NPV 92.9%. In Kupang, there were 21 (23.3%) children who were stunting with a value of Se 60.0% and Sp 98.2%, and in Bandung, there were 12 (13.3%) stunted children with Se value of 72.7% and Sp 94.9%. Combined in 3 (three) cities get Se value 66.0% and Sp 93.3%, PPV 73.6% and NPV 90.3%. AWC TB / U can be used as a stunting screening tool for diagnosis with the aim of a high Sp value. For students who are detected stunted, further treatment is needed to overcome their nutritional problems.

O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar a frequência do consumo de alimentos processados e ultraprocessados e verificar a associação entre estado nutricional por adolescentes do ensino público e privado do município de Arroio do Tigre, RS. Trata-se de um estudo transversal realizado com adolescentes, com idade entre 10 e 15 anos, de uma escola pública e uma privada de Arroio do Tigre, RS. O estado nutricional foi avaliado pelo índice de massa corporal. Aplicou-se um questionário de frequência alimentar contendo alimentos processados e ultraprocessados. A amostra foi composta por 64 adolescentes com idade média de 12,03±1,15 anos, sendo 53,1% da escola pública. A maioria dos adolescentes encontravam-se eutróficos (p=0,343), e quando comparado com o consumo de alimentos processados e ultraprocessados, a maioria dos escolares eutróficos relataram maior frequência no consumo de balas e chicletes (50,0%) e barra de cereais (51,0%), de 1 a 3 vezes por semana (p=0,004; p=0,029, respectivamente). Houve também uma maior frequência de consumo de alimentos processados e ultraprocessados como pizza (73,5%; p0,001), refrigerante (58,8%; p=0,036) e biscoito recheado (58,8%; p=0,008) entre 1 a 3 vezes por semana na escola pública em comparação a escola privada. O consumo de suco de pacote (p=0,013) foi relatado não ser consumido pela maioria dos alunos da escola particular em comparação a escola pública. Os dados encontrados evidenciam um consumo expressivo de alimentos processados e ultraprocessados pelos adolescentes de ambas as escolas, destacando alimentos com alto teor de açúcar e sódio.Palavras-chave: Hábitos alimentares. Alimentos industrializados. ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to compare the frequency of consumption of processed and ultraprocessed foods and to verify the association between nutritional status by adolescents from public and private schools in the municipality of Arroio do Tigre, RS. A food frequency questionnaire containing processed and ultraprocessed foods was applied. The sample consisted of 64 adolescents with a mean age of 12.03±1.15 years, 53.1% of the public school. Most of the adolescents were eutrophic (p=0.343), and when compared to the consumption of processed and ultraprocessed foods, most eutrophic schoolchildren reported a higher frequency of bullets and chewing gum (50.0%) and cereal bars (51.0%), 1 to 3 times per week (p=0.004, p=0.029, respectively). There was also a higher frequency of consumption of processed and ultraprocessed foods such as pizza (73.5%, p0.001), refrigerant (58.8%, p=0.036) and stuffed biscuit (58.8%, p=0.008) between 1 to 3 times a week in public school compared to private school. Consumption of packet juice (p=0.013) was reported not to be consumed by the majority of private school students compared to public school. Conclusion: The data found evidenced an expressive consumption of processed and ultraprocessed foods by the adolescents of both schools, highlighting foods with high sugar and sodium content.Keywords: Food Habits. Abstract Background Nutritional status is an important indicator for measuring quality of life in children. A region that is recovering from war will face many problems related to nutrition. Very few studies have addressed the nutritional problems in school children. This study was undertaken to identify the prevalence of wasting, stunting and obesity among school children from Northern Sri Lanka and associated socio-demographic factors. Methods A community based cross-sectional study was carried out using multistage stratified proportionate cluster among healthy children attending schools in the Northern part of the country. Height and weight were measured, and Body Mass Index (BMI) calculated [weight (kg)/Height (m) 2]. BMI-for-age z-score (BAZ) and Height for age Z (HAZ) scores were determined and WHO growth references were used to categorise the nutritional status. Correlation between various nutritional problems with Maternal education, household income, number of family members and the residential area was assessed. Results A total of 1012 children were recruited, and the mean age and standard deviation were 11.12±1.77 yrs. Girls in the age ranges of 9–14 were heavier and taller when compared to the boys compatible with the pubertal growth spurt. Stunting based on the height for age was seen in 10.9% of boys and 11.8% of girls. Wasting based on BMI for age WHO standard (WHO 2007) was seen in 30.6% of boys and 29.1% of the girls. The prevalence of overweight was 11% and Obesity was 6.3% of the population. Obesity was predominantly seen in boys (4.2%) and it was significantly higher when compared to the girls (2.1%) (p < 0.001). Obesity in older boys (> 10 years) was significantly more than the younger ones (p < 0.01). Maternal education and family income had a significant impact on the prevalence of wasting, stunting and obesity whereas the family size contributed to the wasting and obesity (p< 0.001). Conclusion Findings suggest that stunting, wasting, overweight and obesity are prevalent among 6–16-year-old leading to concerns in public health. The nutritional status significantly varies according to the geographical location, maternal education and the household income.

Dietary habit is behaviors that are appropriate for the selection of the right foods so that they will provide good nutritional status. Nutrients that consist of macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and micro substances such as vitamins and minerals needed by the body for the process of growth and development. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between eating patterns with the nutritional status and cognitive abilities of elementary school children. Cross-Sectional research design. The population in this study were all students as many as 367 students, the sampling used was a Stratified random sampling technique, a sample of 192 respondents. Data analysis uses the Spearman Rank Rho statistical test. The results of the analysis of dietary variables with nutritional status were obtained ρ (0.003) <α (0.05), so H0 was rejected, meaning that there was a relationship between eating patterns and nutritional status of school-age children, with a value of r = 0.210 which showed a high positive correlation. The results of the analysis of nutritional status variables with cognitive abilities obtained results ρ = 0.00, <α = 0.05. meaning that there is a relationship between nutritional status and cognitive learning achievement in elementary school children. Normal nutritional status can be obtained by applying a positive diet so that the intake that enters the body in accordance with the needs of the body. Children who have normal nutritional status have good cognitive abilities. Parents are the most important support in optimizing children's growth and development

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> To assess the nutritional assessment of the primary school children in Abbottabad.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> A descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted among children of private and public sectors primary schools of Abbottabad from January - September 2018 by simple random sampling. 200 students from each school (7 and 13 years), present on the day of data collection were included in this study and those who were absent, sick or not willing, were excluded. The data was collected on a pre-tested questionnaire.  </p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> Total 200 students, males 49.5% (n=99) and females 50.5% (n=101) were interviewed and assessed for their nutritional assessment. Their mean age was 11.67±1.66years, height was 144.93±12.34 cms and weight was 37.69±12.96 kgs. Male students (n=67) 67.7% and from private schools (n=67) 65.7% were healthier then female (n=55) 55.4% and government schools (57.1%), P valve 0.085 and 0.026. Most of the students with grade C in last year school performance were underweight (100%). Raven Test for both types of school gave 0.012 P value which indicated more intelligent students resides in private schools. Furthermore, children of well-serviced fathers and qualified mothers were healthy, more intelligent and practiced good hygiene. Also, children of a private school who has better nutritional status scored more than Public school children.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> Nutritional status of children have a direct effect on their cognitive abilities. Private school children who have scored better in the intelligence test, have better nutritional status. Socioeconomic status and mother qualification have a direct effect on children’s nutrition, health status, school performance and hygiene.</p><p class="abstract"> </p>

ABSTRACT: RELATIONSHIP WITH ANEMIA IN ELEMENTARY CHILDREN IN TANJUNG SENANG REGENCY, BANDAR LAMPUNG Background: Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the hemoglobin concentration in them is less than normal. WHO in the World Wide Prevalence of Anemia reports that the total population of the world who suffer from anemia is 1.62 billion people with a prevalence in primary school children (25.4%) and 305 million school children worldwide suffer from anemia. In general, the cause of anemia is nutritional deficiencies, especially iron deficiency and parasitic infections such as worms. Worms is an infectious disease caused by parasites in the form of worms. Objective: Knowing the Relation between Worms and Anemia in Elementary School Children in In Tanjung Senang District Bandar Lampung in 2020. Method: This type of research is quantitative research and analytical observational research methods with a cross sectional approach with the Chi Square test. Sampling was done using Quota Sampling. The sample in this study were 63 people. Results: The results of the Chi Square test showed p-value = 0.000, which is less than the significance value of 5% (0.05), this shows that there is a significant relationship between worms and anemia in elementary school children in Tanjung Senang, Bandar Lampung, in 2020. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between helminths and the incidence of anemia in elementary school children in Tanjung Senang, Bandar Lampung, in 2020. Keywords: Worms, Anemia Incidence  ABSTRAK: HUBUNGAN KECACINGAN DENGAN KEJADIAN ANEMIA PADA ANAK SEKOLAH DASAR DI KECAMATAN TANJUNG SENANG BANDAR LAMPUNG Pendahuluan: Anemia merupakan suatu kondisi dimana jumlah sel darah merah atau konsentrasi hemoglobin di dalamnya kurang dari biasanya. WHO dalam World wide Prevalence of Anemia melaporkan bahwa total dari keseluruhan penduduk dunia yang menderita anemia adalah 1,62 miliar orang dengan prevalensi pada anak sekolah dasar (25,4%) dan 305 juta anak sekolah di seluruh dunia menderita anemia. Pada umumnya penyebab anemia adalah kekurangan nutrisi, terutama kekurangan zat besi dan infeksi parasit seperti kecacingan. Kecacingan merupakan penyakit infeksi yang disebabkan oleh parasit berupa cacing.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Hubungan Kecacingan Dengan Kejadian Anemia Pada Anak Sekolah Dasar di Di Kecamatan Tanjung Senang Bandar Lampung Tahun 2020. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dan metode penelitian analitik observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional dengan uji Chi Square. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan Quota Sampling. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 63 orang.Hasil: Hasil uji Chi Square  menunjukkan p-value = 0.000 dimana kurang dari nilai kemaknaan yaitu 5% (0.05), hal tersebut menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kecacingan dengan kejadian anemia pada anak Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Tanjung Senang Bandar Lampung Tahun 2020.Kesimpulan: Kesimpulannya terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kecacingan dengan kejadian anemia pada anak Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Tanjung Senang Bandar Lampung Tahun 2020. Kata Kunci  Kecacingan, Kejadian Anemia
