Handline is a fishing tool that is always used by fishermen in Passo Village to catch tuna fish in the southern waters of Ambon Island. In carrying out tuna fishing activities, these fishermen use two hand lines at the same time operating together but differ in their operating techniques. This research was conducted to know the size distribution and growth pattern of yellowfin tuna caught by handline (PUT and PUH) in the southern waters of Ambon Island. From the results of this study, the total yellowfin tuna caught using the PUT handline was 323 individuals with an average class length of 117.23 cm, while the yellowfin tuna caught using the PUH handline was 159 with an average class length of 118.1 cm. The average total weight of yellowfin tuna caught by the PUT handline was 21.26 kg. The average total weight caught using the PUH handline was 21.94 kg. The growth pattern of yellowfin tuna as a whole is negative allometric, which means that the length growth is faster than the weight growth.

The size composition, length-weight relationship, and condition factor of Thunnus albacares were examined in Bone Bay. Sampling was conducted at two stations, i.e., Station I at Cimpu in Luwu Regency and Station II at Lonrae in Bone Regency between July 2018 and June 2019. 10246 and 2651 yellowfin tunas were captured in Station I and Station II, respectively. Measurement of the fork length ranged between 20 cm and 192 cm with an average length of 81,257 ± 33,456 cm in Station I, and between 26 to 162 cm with an average length of 95,479 cm in Station II. The weight measurement ranged between 0,35 and 99,21 kg with an average of 14,539 kg in Station I, and between 0,46 and 97,35 kg with an average of 26,978 kg in Station II. Calculation of the relationship was based on the formula W= 5,5−5FL2,7454 (R2 = 0,963) in Station I, and W=4,1−5FL2,9103 (R2 = 0,761) in Station II. The values of condition factor at Station I and Station II were 2,1395 and 3,4374, respectively. It is quite evident that the growth pattern of the yellowfin tunas at Bone Bay was negatively allometric, indicating that the length increased faster than the weight.

The yellowfin tuna Thunnus albacares is the second most important fishery in Mexico, due to its production costs and commercial value”  The species is fished on both coast of the country, with the Pacific Ocean presenting productions lightly higher than that of the Gulf of Mexico where, in spite of the above statement, tuna catches have recently shown a downward trend. For this reason, analysis is required of the size and stage of ovarian maturity and it is necessary to determine whether capture size is the primary reason behind the decline in the yellowfin tuna fishery Three tuna fishing trips were conducted in the Gulf of Mexico in order to gather data pertaining to fork length (Lf) and gonads Histological sections were obtained from the latter for analysis and determination of maturity stage. The results showed that males were predominant (40%) among the individuals for which the sex could be differentiated in the catches of T. albacares. The Lf values in the catch, were between 75 and 162 cm. However, variations in this parameter were found between sexes. The relationship between length and weight showed that the males are larger than the females, however, the equationgiven by the parameters of a=0.9406 and b= 3.4504, demonstrated growth of positive allometric type in both sexes. There was progressive development in the state of ovarian maturity over the months of capture. Chromatin nuclear (CN) was the most frequent phase within primary ovarian development (November, February, March), stages were present, although these did not present a direct relationship to fork length.

The whitespotted guitarfish (Rhyncobatus Springeri) resource is an important commodity and has high economic value. This study aims to determine the growth pattern of whitespotted guitarfish landed in the PPI Sungai Kakap. This research was conducted at the PPI Sungai Kakap, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan Province in July and August 2019. Data was collected by observation, surveys, and interviews. Data analysis of sex ratios, length, and weight was carried out on samples of whitespotted guitarfish. The results of the analysis of the sex ratio of male and female whitespotted guitarfish were 1.00:1.44, this shows that the number of male fish caught is relatively equal to the number of female fish caught. The results of the analysis of the length and weight relationship of whitespotted guitarfish, the a value is 20.643 and the b value is 0.6770. That value represents a negative allometric growth pattern for male and female fish. The negative allometrics explain that the length growth is faster than the weight growth. Generally, the increase of the length and weight is equal, but the whitespotted guitarfish has length growth faster than weight growth

The use of carbon monoxide (CO) in fresh fish has generated considerable debate. Carbon monoxide is used to treat fresh fish in order to retain its fresh red appearance for a longer period. It reacts with the oxy-myoglobin to form a fairly stable cherry red carboxy-myoglobin complex that may mask spoilage, because the CO-complex can be stable beyond the microbiological shelf life of the meat. The presence of CO in tuna fish (<em>Thunnus Albacares</em>) has been investigated by means of optical spectroscopy. Formation of the CO adduct can be easily detected by the combined analysis of electronic absorption spectra in their normal and second derivative modes, monitoring the intense Soret band at 420 nm. Samples were judged as CO treated when their levels were higher than 200 ng/g. Only two positive samples out of 29 analyzed were detected. The high level of uncertainty (0.30) of the method requires the use of more specific and sensitive methods for confirmatory analysis.

Yellowfin tuna, Thunnus albacares (Bonnaterre, 1788) is one of the important economically for tuna species that spread in Indonesian waters, including in WPP 572 (Indian Ocean west coast of Sumatra). One important aspect relating to sustainable utilization is the growth pattern and the condition factor. This study aims to examine growth patterns and factor conditions of yellowfin tuna in the Eastern Indian Ocean. The number of fish samples measured in length and weight is 7,550 with length range from 76-176 cm (average: 129.03 cm) and mode at 150 cm. The length weight relationship of the species is W=4x10-5L2.842 (R2 0,957). In general the growth pattern of yellowfin tuna is negative allometric which means that the length increase is faster than the weight. The average relative condition factor of yellowfin tuna is 0.975 with a tendency to decrease along with the increasing of its length. The highest relative condition factor occurred at the length class of 80 cm with 1,061 and the lowest occurred at length 170 cm with 0.918. The monthly relative condition factor generally increased twice in one year from February to June and from July to December.

A preliminary research programme was carried out in order to study the acoustic wave reflection or target strength (TS) of tuna fish using a quantitative echo sounder (QES). The relationships between TS to fork length (FL) and swimbladder volume, for bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) and yellowfin tuna (T. albacares) are investigated. The TS of bigeye tuna was about 3 dB higher than yellowfin tuna when comparing species at the same size. The result can be correlated to the swimbladder volume differencebetween species. The relationship between TS and swimbladder volume was quantified for both species. Keywords: tuna fish, target strength, quantitative echo sounder
