Aim. The purpose of the article is to study the physical development and physical fitness of students of the III functional group under lack of physical activity and in the conditions of organized classes in a technical university. Materials and methods. The sample included 11 490 full time students (6051 males and 5439 females) aged 17–21 years. The study of physical development and physical fitness was conducted in two stages. In all participants, anthropometric and physiometric health data were recorded. These data were studied in dynamics from the 1st to the 4th year. The obtained data were examined stage-by-stage during the academic year and vacation period. Results. Significant differences were obtained in the physical development of girls in terms of weight and height by the end of the third year. The values of the Stange and Gench tests improved by the end of the first year. However, by the end of the second year, the negative dynamics was detected. The results of the Genchtest significantly improved by the end of the fourth year. The study of physical fitness revealed significant positive dynamic in the development of speed and a significant decrease in strength preparedness by the end of the fourth year. By the end of the first year, strength endurance became significantly higher compared with the data obtained at the time of the beginning of training. By the end of the third year endurance decreased significantly. Conclusion. Young people who regularly engage in physical activity during the first two years at the university have a positive trend in most indicators of physical development and physical fitness. Lack of motor activity, caused by a decrease in the number of classes provided for by the general education program, significantly affects endurance, speed, the development of strength (static endurance of the muscles of the shoulder girdle and dynamic strength of the muscles of the lower extremities), speed and strength qualities (6th and 8th semesters), flexibility.

The aim of the study was to investigate the protective role of physical activity (PA) and other health-related bio-psycho components (physical fitness, body composition, body perception and the sense of coherence (SOC)) in body acceptance. We searched for gender differences in those relationships. We investigated 231 adolescents aged 13–16 years from an urban area in Poland. We conducted objective measurements of height, weight, fat% and relative value of minute oxygen consumption. Questionnaires for PA, SOC Body Figure Perception and body acceptance were applied. Linear regression was used for analyzing determinants of body acceptance. We found that more physically active girls reported a less slim ideal vision of their figure (p < 0.05). Physical fitness is a better predictor of body acceptance than physical activity. In the final model, the sense of coherence, body mass index (BMI), and gender (being a boy) were also predictors of body acceptance (F(6,92) = 13.084, p < 0.0001). Gender differences were discussed in the present study. Fitness enhancing physical activity should be recommended for adolescents to achieve the protective psychosocial effect especially among girls. Physical activity on a daily basis brings positive results in a more adequate and reasonable body assessment and it can play a protective role in terms of mental wellbeing. Body satisfaction varies between genders and it is a more sensitive issue among girls than boys during adolescence.

Relevance. In the physical education of students during the formation of individual physical culture is relevant to the issue of self-assessment of physical development, the study of motivation to engage in various types of physical activity among students. The purpose of the work is to study the self-assessment of physical development and motivation in physical education among student youth in the process of formation of individual physical culture. Methods: analysis and generalization of data of scientific and methodical literature and sources of the Internet; sociological methods; psychological and diagnostic methods; pedagogical methods; methods of statistical data processing. Experimental studies were conducted at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. The study involved students of 1-3 grades, 105 people (58 boys and 47 girls). Results. In the course of the research, priorities were established in the motives and interests of student youth during physical education classes. The level of physical conditions of students according to the results of motor tests is determined. The individual profile of the physical «I» of the individual is determined with the help of the test-questionnaire EM Bochenkova «Self-description of physical development», which is a modified version of the known method of A.M. Parishioners. It is established that at a low level of «self-esteem» students generally rate «coordination of movements», «endurance», «flexibility». With a low self-esteem of «sports abilities» and «physical activity», the studied students rate the «appearance» and consider themselves quite attractive. In general, the level of self-esteem on some scales increases with age («global physical self», «strength», «endurance»). In order to form an individual culture of students’ health, it is necessary for the participants of the educational space to master the standards of self-preserving behavior and the culture of a healthy lifestyle to increase healthy activity. It is shown that students with a high level of physical fitness have higher scores on all indicators of the scale and they have a higher overall level of self-esteem. At the same time, students with a low level of physical fitness have an inflated self-esteem in relation to "appearance".

The aim of this research was to investigate morphofunctional features and physical fitness of boys 6 - 9 years old under the influence of various physical activity. The research performed in 2020 comprised 246 boys of 6 - 9 years old with different physical activity (121 children who are not involved in sports; 79 martial artists and 46 gymnasts with experience of 8 months and 4 years old). It was found that systematic sports activities of 6 - 9 years old boys have a positive effect on physical fitness and optimize morphofunctional indicators of physical development. The effect of the sport on the physical development and fitness of the boys depends on the start date and time of training sessions: a higher level of young gymnasts physical fitness is accompanied by a more intense adaptation of the cardiovascular system relative to martial artists. Differences in morphofunctional state and physical fitness between boys who are not involved in sports and young athletes are least significant in 6 year old boys, intensifying as growing up and increasing sport experience. It is more typical for gymnasts.

Objective To explore the influence of physical activity intensity on physical fitness of preschool children. Methods Taking 192 preschool children in Changsha City as the research objects, using accelerometers to measure physical activity intensity, using correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and isochronous substitution paradigm to analyze the correlation between different physical activity intensities. Results (1) There was no significant correlation between LPA and its physical fitness indicators. (2) MPA is significantly correlated with physical fitness indicators of preschool children. (3) After controlling for gender, age, wearing time and other factors, MVPA, especially MPA, still has a significant influence on various indicators of physical fitness; (4) After MVPA replaces PA of other strengths, physical fitness changes only when MVPA replaces others. The direction consistency and significance are only when the intensity is PA. Conclusion VPA is closely related to the physical fitness of preschool children. Promoting the improvement of VPA may be crucial to the physical development of preschool children.

AbstractIntroduction: The aim of the physical activity of the intellectually disabled is the strengthening of health, creating movement habits, promoting active recreation, and maintaining exercise capacity. Skillfully applied physical activity allows to mitigate the effects of pathology and create the compensations to enable the intellectually disabled people to live relatively independently. Physical activity and sport also increase their chances to integrate with their families, peers, and social environment.Materials and methods: The research targeted a group of 134 people with moderate or considerable intellectual disability (65 women and 69 men), aged 20-53 years, who participated in occupational therapy workshops in Jastrzębie Zdrój, Rybnik, and Żory. Physical fitness was assessed using the “Eurofit Special” test and balance tests. Measurements of body height and mass were also taken and then used to calculate the body mass index (BMI).Results: A salient somatic trait was the greater body mass relative to height among the persons with considerable disability, clearly illustrated by the BMI. This explained their greater heaviness in performing physical exercises. An even greater difference between participants with moderate and considerable intellectual disability was visible in physical fitness. Obviously, older persons did not achieve as good results in fitness tests as the younger ones, yet the participants were more differentiated by the level of disability than age. Most symptomatic differences to the disadvantage of the considerably disabled were observed in explosive strength, speed, abdominal muscle strength, and flexibility. Conclusions: Significant differences in fitness between the compared groups make it necessary to take into account the level of intellectual disability in the course of physical education and sport, at work, and in household duties.
