Abstract The relations between man and nature constitute an immemorial subject of the geographical research. Man, while striving to understand the surrounding world and its secrets, simultaneously alters and transforms it. The importance of knowing the rules of rational functioning in the natural environment, especially in the modern, globalized world is proven by it being a subject of schooling at all education levels. The purpose of the students gaining knowledge on the natural environment and the rules of its normal functioning in order to provide a balanced development thereof, is also meant to shape appropriate attitudes, consciousness and responsibility for the natural environment, both in the global and local aspects. Therefore, an attempt to determine the significance of the natural environment in shaping the sense of local identity in young people has been made. Studies on the local and regional identity have been conducted with the high schoolers from the Łódź voivodeship using the survey method. The results of the research allowed to determine the level of knowledge on the natural environment in the area of the students’ places of residence, including the areas protected by law. A high importance of natural values in shaping the pride of a person’s place of residence was also proven. Moreover, it turned out that the advantages of the natural habitat are in a high position in terms of areas considered “magical places”. The natural environment values are more likely to shape local identities in students residing in rural areas, in a direct neighbourhood of protected areas, forests or rivers.

The younger generation matures in a highly developed society, and the media provide young people with the opportunity to meet fundamental needs, including those of people-to-people contacts. But is it for sure? This raises the question of the link between the Internet activity of young people and their sense of alienation. The article is an attempt to answer this problem. The research was carried out using the diagnostic survey method among 196 students of secondary schools in Podkarpackie and Małopolskie voivodship.

Currently, the questions of how older people fit into the context of modern reality, to what extent their inherent life ideas are consistent with existing social norms are becoming relevant. The history of the development of attitudes towards the elderly, the position of old people is constantly changing. It is known that the life of old people largely depends on their social status in society. The article presents the results of studying the attitude of young people and people of mature age in Yakutia to old age and readiness to care for the elderly. The study involved representatives of young and mature age in the amount of 222, including 109 men, 113 women. 142 (64%) respondents live in cities, 80 (36%) - in rural areas. 68 (31%) of the respondents have higher education, the rest - secondary, 85.3% of the respondents are of mature age and 14.7% of young people live with their parents. The analysis of ethnographic works, folklore materials was used as research methods; survey method. The reliability of the difference in indicators was checked using the angular Fisher transformation. Analysis of the research results allows us to note that respondents treat elderly people with patience and care, however, young people tend to be indifferent to aging parents. The attitude towards the placement of parents in nursing homes is also noticeably different: young people are ready to place their parents in nursing homes if the circumstances are difficult. Comparison was also made of the opinions of representatives of different nationalities about their attitude to old age, and their willingness to care for elderly parents, it found that they also differ. Comparison of the research indicators showed that there is a high connection with the family among representatives of the small peoples of the north, they are also more re- sponsible for their parents, although in other nations, the readiness to care for the elderly is high among the Yakuts (p <0.05). In the future, the study of attitudes towards old age will be relevant, since the aging of the population is observed throughout the world.

Rural areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina include more than 80% of the country's territory and are inhabited by more than half of the population. In order to preserve the natural environment, traditions and customs, rural tourism is developing and rural areas are getting active for tourism purposes. The authors analyze the current state of rural tourism in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and provide recommendations for its sustainable development. The analysis shows that the basic problems that could slow down the development of rural tourism are: lack of incentives for the development and improvement of the state and government institutions, lack of subsidies for young people who want to live and work in the countryside, inability to use quality land for non-agricultural purposes, lack of defined standards for rural development and underdevelopment of infrastructure.

The aim of the realisation of the material is getting the results of carried on research concerning the fact of finding out to what level contents involving the balanced development during the educational activities was introduced, moreover, what influence of such issues on the creating the right attitudes towards the pro-ecological awareness of young people was. The balanced development is at present the challenge for creating the awareness not only of the particular society, but also in the widest sense the whole generation of people. Undertaking such issues the role of education during all stages of teaching should be taken into consideration, especially, in the range of propagating the idea of responsibility for the natural environment with eco-development. It is a specially important element of teaching according to the principle of pro-environmental education to undertake all actions in the educational centers, which aim is to stimulate the environmental awareness of young people as well as to prepare the pedagogical staff to the realization of the wide range of methods and strategies that allow to get the best results during the process of educating young generation.

AbstractIn the traditional nomadic culture of the Mongols, their philosophy does not centre around people when it comes to relating to the environment. Instead, sky and nature are worshipped as having the significance of a spiritual being with a Divine soul. This manner of worship manifests itself not only in their daily greetings – Höörhii–Amitan, for example – but also is reflected in their literature, their rituals regarding life and death, and in historical events. This philosophy allowed them to protect their natural habitat, and to live in harmony with nature for centuries; it brought them an inner world of profound peace and tranquillity. In this modern world where their natural environment is facing destruction, and their cultural environment is being contaminated, it is important for us to re-evaluate these issues and redefine traditional Mongolian worship and its meanings.

The South African youth faces multiple challenges that range from illiteracy, drug and alcohol abuse, crime and HIV/AIDS, to unemployment. These challenges and many other ills in society have led to interventions by government, and private and other civil societies. The government has established and initiated a number of programmes that aim at building capacity and helping the youth to cope with these multiple challenges. Some of the programmes are aimed at building leadership capacity among the impoverished youth in rural communities. A lot of money is being invested in these programmes, which are meant to develop young South Africans. However, there are some young people who do not participate in these programmes. They are also not in the formal education system, self-employed or employed elsewhere. And they are despondent. The government, private sector and non-governmental organisations are trying hard to bring these youths and others into the developmental arena, so that they can be active participants in the economy of the country in the near future. However, little research has been conducted to assess the broad impact of the various programmes in the country. The contribution that these programmes are making toward improving the livelihoods of young people has to be determined on a larger scale. Nevertheless, this article reports on an investigation that was conducted on a smaller scale, at the Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality. The aim of the research was to explore the perceptions young South Africans have of the leadership development programmes that they have participated in. A mixed research approach was used to collect data and the key findings indicated that knowledge accumulated through participation in the programmes does not always translate into practical applications. However, the programmes were deemed to be valuable in instilling a positive life-view. The study recommends that support systems be established in the rural areas to assist young people with life challenges.

Rural settlements occupy a significant part of the territory of Russia, where about 25% of the population lives and significant natural resource potential is concentrated, but the level of their socio-economic development is significantly inferior to urban ones. Increasing depressiveness of rural areas and spatial socio-economic differentiation is a systemic problem and an obstacle to the balanced development of the national economy, reduces its competitiveness due to insufficient use of economic potential, creates challenges to the economic and national security of the state. A powerful tool for countering such trends is the formation and implementation of the potential for the development of small agribusiness, which is mainly based on households created in the form of peasant (farmer) and personal subsidiary associations. The article ana-lyzes the potential of small agribusiness development in rural areas.

The family education responsibilities of rural left-behind children are not fully implemented, and school education is weak, which has caused a series of problems. The education of rural left-behind children has gradually attracted people's attention. In this context, this article studies the current situation and countermeasures of rural LBC education and teaching. This article combines research methods such as questionnaire survey method and on-site interview method for research. In order to better explain the problems of local government, this article first defines the definition of local government, expounds the theory of personality development, and uses scientific sampling methods in the research process to extract research results from some rural areas in our province.了Analysis. Based on the performance of LBC and non-LBC schools, learning guidance and learning, the current situation of LBC education in China was studied. In addition, this article also studied the performance of LBC parents before and after they went abroad, and made some suggestions. The study found that before the parents went out, LBC's academic performance was mainly concentrated at the intermediate level and above, accounting for 78%. After the parents went out, LBC's academic performance decreased significantly, and the results were mainly concentrated in the intermediate and above. Below, accounting for 84%. It can be seen that the role of parents in children's growth education is essential.

Abstract The natural environment is increasingly used in therapeutic psychosocial interventions for young people who have experienced trauma. However, as the research in this area has yet to be synthesised, very little is known about the types and outcomes of interventions. This prevents the optimisation of social work interventions in outdoor settings. Consequently, a scoping review of peer-reviewed research published from 2008 to 2018 was undertaken to examine how nature is being used in psychosocial interventions with young people aged ten to twenty-four years who have experienced trauma and the impact of these interventions on young people’s mental health. The database search identified 5,425 records; however, only ten papers met the inclusion criteria. These papers suggested that positive changes across a range of mental health outcomes for young people were achieved in psychosocial interventions which were situated in, or made use of the natural environment, although it is unclear whether the environment influenced the outcomes. The scoping review also highlighted the need for conducting further research that examines how environmental factors contribute to clinical change for young people who have experienced trauma.
