Abstract The importance of communication skills is increasing on the labour market and a further strengthening of this trend is expected due to Industry 4.0. This development will have significant consequences for individuals’ employability, requirements on educational outcomes and gender equality. This article employs data from a representative survey of Czech employees (N = 1,500) replenished with information on requirements on their communication skills (Effective communication, Czech language and English language) in order to explore (a) the distribution of communication skills requirements on the labour market, (b) personal and job characteristics related to work positions requiring highly developed communication skills, and (c) wage returns to these skills. The results show that one standard deviation increase in job requirements on communication skills is connected with 5.8% wage premium. However, not everybody needs well-developed communication skills. Only a quarter of employees needs highly developed effective communication, Czech and English languages, while there is also a quarter of employees that needs only a very basic level of communication skills. The results also revealed that females perform more communication-intensive occupations than males do. Cognitive skills and the need to excel represent other significant factors correlated with higher job requirements on communication skills.

The article is a presentation of a part of the results of research conducted during work on the dissertation. In the introduction, theoretical references to understanding volunteering from various perspectives were indicated. It also emphasizes the understanding of volunteering as an opportunity to develop professional competences of a volunteer. Consequently, the next part of the article is an argument on the relationship between volunteering and professional competences. The author indicates specific skills, knowledge and attitudes that, according to the literature, can be acquired during volunteering. Subsequently employers’ expectations towards the characteristics of future employees, as well as their attitude to volunteering are described. This part is based on research conducted, among others, by the Warsaw School of Economics. Then, the author presents the results of her own research conducted among employers of social sciences students and their perception of volunteering and the opportunities it creates for the development of competences. The analysis of the research results allows us to believe that volunteers, during their activity, gain mainly practical and industry knowledge. Among the skills indicated were group cooperation, interpersonal skills and effective communication. The attitudes that volunteers acquire thanks to their actions are: resourcefulness, responsibility, sensitivity and empathy. At the end, the results of the author’s research on competences acquired by volunteers were compared with the competences desired by employers and the existing competency gap. The analysis of all answers confirms that communication skills, openness, teamwork and industry knowledge are competences that are desirable in an ideal graduate, who most often has a competency gap in this area. At the same time, these are competences that can be acquired through volunteering. The research results may suggest that people entering the labour market, but also employers, are interested in volunteering as a way to increase their chances on the labour market.

<p>Literatures have reveal that teaching English Language in a conventional classroom with all the available methodology hardly gives the students opportunity to use the language effectively or gain the competence and confidence of using the language in and outside the classroom and probably develop fluency in it: especially when English is a second language other than the learner’s language like the Nigeria situation. This paper thus opines that with the use of drama as a tool or technique in teaching English Language as second language; learners would be equipped with the essential skills of communication and gain fluency in the language. This paper therefore explores the array of models through which language exploration through drama is related to Language Acquisition theories. The paper examines the theories of Language acquisition to establish the relevance of drama-in-education to the domain of teaching and learning and probably language teaching. It further x-rays the mimesis concept of drama as a basis and model for language learning by explaining the three imitative models of language learning among humans as they relates to communicative activities: to prove the relevance of drama as a potent tool for fostering effective communication skills in English as Second Language Learners.</p>

The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of self-efficacy,  effective communication skills of administratorsand teachers in Izmir. For learning processes to be effective, it is very important that educators have effective communication skills and develop their self-awareness in this regard. Determining the effective communication self-awareness of educators will contribute to the literature and guide higher policy practices. This study considers the following questions: Is there a significant difference in effective communication self-efficacy subscale scores according to educators’ task type and gender, years of service and branch?  This study uses the scanning model, a quantitative research method. The data collection tool consists of two parts: first, personal information about the educators; second, the scale items of the Effective Communication Self-Efficacy Inventory. The Inventory was consists of 41 items. Four main results were obtained from the findings of this study. A significant difference was found in favor of managers in all three subscales of the inventory. This can be explained by the fact that administrators see communication as a more necessary requirement than do teachers, in order to better maintain the education process.           Keywords: administrators, communication skills, self-efficacy, administrators-teachers.

Este  artículo    tiene    como  Objetivo  orientar  a  los  Docentes  en  una  metodología  para desarrollar la habilidad de escuchar en la enseñanza del Idioma Ingles. Tomando como punto de partida las habilidades lingüísticas: hablar, leer, escribir y escuchar teniendo en cuenta esta última como elemento de suma importancia dentro de las competencias comunicativas. Se presenta una metodología que puede ser utilizada como material de apoyo para los Docentes usando  algunos  Tic´s   para  que  desarrollen  la     comprensión  auditiva  y  lograr  una comunicación  eficaz en los estudiantes de Administración de Empresas Agropecuarias  de la Universidad  Estatal  del  Sur de Manabí.  El desarrollo  de habilidades  lingüísticas  para la escuchar  en inglés,  no solo le posibilita al estudiante manifestar las cosas que le rodean, que lo ha ido adquiriendo en la actividad y la comunicación diaria con los demás miembros de la carrera a la que pertenece o aquellos con los que   interactúa ocasionalmente, sino que se establece como una de las principales vías para la asimilación de nuevos conocimientos y experiencias resultante de la interacción con los demás.  Palabras claves: Comprensión auditiva, metodología, didáctica, habilidades lingüísticas   Didactics to develop the language skills of listening in English Language Abstract  This article aims to guide teachers in a methodology to develop listening skills in teaching English Language. This research paper investigates the factors that affect student’s interpersonal communication skills in English language and literature regular students at Kabridahar University. It focused on English Language and Literature regular students in Kabridahar University. The objective of the study was to investigate the major factors that affect student’s interpersonal communication. The researcher collected data from the students by using Questionnaire, Interview and observation in order to get an appropriate finding. The researcher used both qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis. The study shows that, the students have interest to communicate and interact with each other. But, some of barriers like mother tongue influence and variety of language affect their interpersonal communication as well as their relationship. Also, factors like   weak relationship to others, lack of interest, inexperience, lack of practice and gender issues are the major barriers which affected student’s interpersonal communication.

Adherence to lifestyle changes - beginning to exercise, for example - is assumed to be mediated by self-referent thoughts. This paper describes a pilot study and three studies conducted to develop and validate a questionnaire for adults to determine their self-perceptions related to health-oriented exercise. The pilot study identified items pertinent to the domains considered important in this context, and began the process of selecting items. Study 2 examined the factor structure, reduced the number of items, determined the internal consistency of the factors, and explored the discriminative validity of the questionnaire as to physical activity level and gender. Four factors with a total of 24 items were accepted, measuring mastery of exercise, body perception, social comfort/discomfort in the exercise setting, and perception of fitness. All subscales had acceptable internal consistencies. Preliminary validity was demonstrated by confirming hypothesized differences in scores as to gender, age, and physical activity level. The third study examined and demonstrated convergent validity with similar existing subscales. The fourth study examined an English-language version of the questionnaire, confirming the existence of the factors and providing preliminary psychometric evidence of the viability of the questionnaire.

Communication is fundamental and vital to all administrative functions and communication is a means of transmitting information and making oneself understood by another or others, Sanchez & Guo (2005). Good communication skills are very important to ones success as an administrator, Yate (2009). This paper discusses how the lack of communication can affect production within organizations and provides guidelines on how both management and employees can create effectiveness by improving their communication skills. Various methods including surveys, questionnaires and interviews will be used through a descriptive research to generate the information that will guide the research. Person’s communication skills affect both personal and organisational effectiveness, Brun (2010); summers (2010). It seems reasonable to conclude that one of the most inhibiting forces to organisational effectiveness is a lack of effective communication, Lutgen-Sandvik (2010). The purpose of this study is to investigate the lack of communication between management and staff in different organizations. The objective is to identify the causes for miscommunication between management and staff, to investigate the kind of effects that the lack of communication would have on different organizations, to provide recommendations on improving the lack of communication, between management and staff throughout organizations.

Abstract Communication is a process of sharing information through speech, writing, gestures or symbols between two or more people. The focus of the present paper is oral communication and the language under consideration is English. The teacher should adopt a student centered approach. The learners should be encouraged to do things in the class which result in developing their communication skills. The trainer has to focus on both the linguistic and paralinguistic features of the communication process while enhancing learners’ communication skills. These features involve the effective use of words, forming grammatically intelligible sentences and an appropriate use of voice and intonation. The teacher should encourage and train his students to use positive body language while listening and speaking. In order to hone the communication skills of the learners, it is very important to make the learners comfortable with the language they have to communicate in. Shedding their inhibitions is also one of the pivotal areas of concerns. This paper explores different techniques that could be useful while training students in communication skills. Communication is a process of sharing information through speech, writing, gestures or symbols between two or more people. The focus of the present paper is oral communication and the language under consideration is English. The major elements of a communication process are sender, receiver, message and feedback. Effective communication is a two way process. It involves both expressive (speaking) skills and receptive (listening) skills. It entails receiver’s understanding of the message sent by the sender and his feedback to the sender. Listening plays a very important role in the language learning process. It is the most primary of the four basic skills of any language i.e. Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Listening paves way for speaking. One can never be a good speaker if one is not a good listener. An effective communicator is first a good listener and then a good speaker. According to Tickoo ( 2003 ), ‘Good listening skills not only lay the foundations of good speech, but they grow best through effective communication’.

Engaging students in language activities can sometimes be challenging for language educators. One of the ways to engage students in language activities is through language games. Language games can motivate students to communicate, strengthens their ability to comprehend the language and enhance their problem-solving and cognitive skills. Language games also have a vast potential to increase engagement of the students, thus lead to the creation of the Conquer & Score: The Derivational Island. It is a word formation enrichment game catering to students learning lexicology and linguistics. The topic was chosen based on the result of an online quiz on the types of morphemes. The game focuses on the derivational morphemes used to form the English language words. The game requires knowledge of morphology as well as basic lexical analysis skills. The game provides educators a fun and engaging reinforcement activity for the students. Gamification elements used in the game such as rewards, flexible learning path and progress indicator offer a safe environment for competition, which can motivate students to outdo each other to win the game. This paper also highlights some important aspects of games in learning.
