Abstract Further tourism development in the Polish-Slovak borderland, as well as its overall economic development, depends on the construction of a motorway and expressway network. This paper analyses the impact of selected planned motorways and expressways (D1, A4, D3/S69, R1/R3/S7, and R4/S19) on the potential accessibility of the Polish-Slovak borderland with respect to the development of tourism. The most important investment project in Slovakia is the completion of the (started) D1 motorway. The R4/S19 and the R1/R3/S7 expressways and the D3 motorway/S69 expressway are expected to contribute to improved cross-border connections.

Tourism development contributes to economic development. In emerging economies like Kazakhstan, tourism development needs active entrepreneurship. As the country emerges from the post-Soviet era, there has been an increase in economic development and prosperity. Entrepreneurship in the tourism sector can drive economies forward through the creation of new tourism and hospitality businesses. The macroeconomic environment can influence entrepreneurial activity. We use an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model to examine the impact of macroeconomic factors on tourism entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan. Using data from 1996 to 2018, we find that there is a positive short-run relationship between wages in the tourism sector and entrepreneurship, suggesting that wage growth in the sector attracts entrepreneurs. In the long run, however, tourism sector wages have a negative relationship with entrepreneurship, suggesting that these higher wages represent a higher cost to entrepreneurship. There is also a strong positive relationship between national income and tourism entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan. Implications of macroeconomic policy changes for Kazakhstan and other emerging economies are discussed.

This research deals with the impact of intensity of inbound and outbound tourism on the sphere of passenger air carriages, based on the dataset that covers the indicators across different economic regions over the period of 2015-2017. The results based on building a correlation-regression model have shown that there is a close connection between tourism development and passenger carriages intensity. Verification of the model by the criteria of Fisher and Student (F-test and t-test) have proved the hypothesis about its statistical significance only after excluding five countries, for which no direct connection is observed between the chosen indictors. Further research has shown that the level of the country economic development does not influence the passenger air carriages industry. Specific attention is paid to the state and main tendencies of passenger air carriages industry in Ukraine. Impact of tourism on this kind of activity is analysed. The basic measures to increase its efficiency are highlighted.

With the emergence of globalization, economic integration among nations has become a necessity. Cross border trade is the most important medium of the current wave of globalization. In this process, knowingly or unknowingly the North East economy has emerged in to a new dimension of cross border trade (informal trade) with neighboring nations and that increases Social Welfare of the poor masses of the region. But the formal arrangements, like ‘Look East Policy’ stumbles the social welfare of the region. Border trade is the first and foremost important component of globalization and informal trade is multiple times more than the formal trade in this region. By this process, sustainable development is generated and it is visible now in this region. With the help of primary and secondary data, this paper tries to analyze the impact of globalization or cross border trade in the North East India (NEI). How far this globalization through cross border trade increases social welfare or generates sustainable economic development of the region is the core issue of this paper. For this purpose, the author has selected Nagaland as an area of study. Of late, the Government has initiated several pro-active measures to strengthen its economic growth further. In this direction, India’s Look East Policy is worth mentioning. Under this policy, India seeks economic cooperation with ASEAN and other neighbouring countries through the gateway of the North-Eastern Region. Despite initiatives of economic development, still the process is not heading towards the right direction. There are some institutional lacunae in this process. This paper is the modest attempt to highlight these lacunae and tries to recommend some feasible suggestions to overcome in this direction.

The purpose of this article is to analyze Chinese Yuan and major international reserve currencies on the basis of particular criteria such as a currency’s use in settling cross-border trade and financial transactions. The author estimates the potential of Yuan’s convertibility and its achieving the status of an international reserve currency. The author lays out a background to assess the impact of these probabilities on stable and sustainable economic development in China itself. The conclusion is that the character of Yuan’s internationalization is strikingly different from similar examples of other currencies’ historic paths to an international reserve currency status in that it is closely controlled by the government.

The aim of the present research is to examine the results and impacts of the cross-border tourism projects that were implemented under the Serbian-Hungarian relationship within the period of the European Union support between 2014 and 2020. Our research was carried out partly with the help of literature research and partly with that of interviews with the managers of major projects related to the tourism products of the region. The research revealed how and to what extent the goals and results set by these projects help the tourism development of Vojvodina. The research showed that although there was no outstanding development in the settlements affected by the projects, without EU funds development would have been smaller. For smaller settlements, tourism resources were definitely an alternative for development, and the supported projects had a significant impact on the life of the micro-community of each settlement, on the establishment of closer cooperation.

Topicality. The urgency of determining measures that are to ensure the economic growth of regions under the influence of globalization and decentralization of the system of governance and administrative-territorial structure is significant and linked to the formation of prerequisites for the further development of the economies of the regions. This topic is one of the main in modern regulatory documents, international agreements, strategies. Strategic documents on EU development for the period up to 2027 refer to the need of the ensuring of decent standard of wellfare without significant divergence in different territories of countries, in accordance with their prerequisites and capabilities in the fields of traditional and smart specializations. It emphasizes the importance of accessing the baseline territories with their local capabilities and advantages to the global economic exchange, while maintaining the balance of management and effectiveness of managing the development of the territorial bases and regional levels: without compromising local self-government, an adequate level of decentralization should be ensured, whereby standards for the performance of all management functions and the provision of public services will be controlled, regulated and guaranteed by the principle of subsidiarity, and key powers will be retained by central authorities and a high level of control will be ensured. Most European countries have already undergone the most difficult phase of transformational transformation to integrate territories into the global economic exchange based on the use of local opportunities and benefits. For Ukraine, however, this stage is just beginning and the results of the first phase of decentralization indicate the need to include levers of economic regulation and stimulate the development of the economic foundation for further administrative and territorial transformations. Therefore, it is important to formulate a set of measures to ensure the economic development of territorial systems in the country, which must meet the current perspective directions of world, European, national, cross-border policy and provide the construction of an institutional framework and economic foundation for further decentralization, administrative and administrative changes.Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to identify key areas and measures for the effective regulation of processes of sustainable development of functional territories in the context of decentralization and globalization and taking into account the impact of institutional support and framework conditions, in particular regulations, international, national, cross-border levels.Research results. The complex of vectors and measures for stimulation of sustainable development of functional territories, defined by economic features in the structure of administrative-territorial units of Ukraine, involved in the processes of decentralization and globalization, has been developed. The urgency of applying the modern mechanism of institutional support for the investment development of the regions in terms of decentralization from the standpoint of compliance with the goals and criteria of the Concept of reforming local self-government, strategic documents on promoting sustainable development in Ukraine until 2020 and 2030, as well as the provisions of government action plans, program documents support for reforms by the President of Ukraine. The key directions of increasing investment activity in the regions are determined on the basis of taking into account the principles and provisions of the European Cohesion Policy for the period up to 2027, the prospects for the development of the Lower Danube Euroregion, the implementation of the Danube Interreg transboundary cooperation program and the provisions of other agreements and program documents in the field of cross-border and international cooperation. Measures to regulate the economic development of the regions based on support for their effective participation in the globalization processes are defined.Conclusion. The regularities and challenges of the modern institutional support of the economic development of the regions in the conditions of influence of globalization and decentralization processes with the identification of features of such provision at the international, national, cross-border levels are revealed. Formulated vectors for stimulating the economic development of the region in modern conditions and supplemented by such measures of their implementation as: the use of tax levers to support priority types of activities in terms of functional territories and by design, economic grounds; introduction of economic experiments to support the development of territorial-economic complexes that form certain functional communities or capable of realizing potentially promising areas of specialization; development and active use of unified approaches to the assessment and sound regulation of economic activity and development of regional economic systems.

Tourism comprises the activities of people travelling and staying in different places from the country of their habitual residence, for a period not longer than one calendar year, and the purpose of this trip is leisure. Tourism, somehow, includes the natural resources of a country or a particular region. Many countries pay primary importance to tourism development. But besides the natural resources, human resources for the industry are also rated as 'raw material' or are predicted by experts as the most important factor that will be coped by the industry over the past decades and the next. It is not enough for a country to be rich in natural beauty in order to be a tourist destination. There should interact: better management, culture, tradition, welcoming, quality of service, etc. All these affect the evolution or development of natural resources that directly affect the economic growth of a country. Supporting the development of traditional economic branches has not brought any major effect on the ongoing development in Kosovo, so that enrichment of economic structure and the development of new branches provide an important opportunity for qualitative advancement of the economy and the entire Kosovo society. The purpose of this paper is to highlight some aspects which identify opportunities and the importance of providing tourism development in the growth and progress of the Kosovo society. The impact of tourism on the economy of various countries in the world is recognized and the positive effects are usually expressed based in the revenue that the country generates during a certain period. It means that while other countries are wondering what has happened to the development of tourism during the year, we still have to ask, will it happen or how will tourism development happen to us.219 Kosovo is now on the way out of the crisis as political, security, economic, social or other ones, which have dominated for years. Based on the principle that the country cannot have a sustainable future without economic development, but no sustainable economic development without stability, it is quite necessary to identify the factors that contribute to the sustainability of the country. One of the factors which may contribute to the rapid emergence of severe crises is the development of tourism.

Over the past two decades a major burst of scholarship has occurred around tourism and local economic development futures in South Africa. This study addressed the question of key stakeholder perceptions of local economic development through tourism as the economic driver. In addition, it examines the challenges for enhancing the local development role of the tourism sector. Arguably, stakeholders at the coalface of tourism and local development issues, such as tourism business owners and local government officials, can offer useful insights into the everyday problems of maximizing the impact of tourism in local municipalities. The focus is on the King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality (KSDM) in Eastern Cape province. The results are presented and dissected from 33 interviews conducted with private sector stakeholders as well as 20 government stakeholders. Stakeholder perceptions were investigated concerning three major themes: (1) the role and prospects for tourism and local economic development, (2) the use of municipal assets for tourism development; and, (3) the challenges facing tourism businesses for local economic development The research findings underscore several factors that explain the decline of the tourism economy of KSDM since 2006 and reduced its contribution to local economic development. Central issues surround crime and safety, infrastructural deficiencies, and shortcomings of the local government itself, including its failure to maintain critical municipal assets essential for tourism development.
