As a part of our studies on the biologically active substances from Spanish plants, we have undertaken an investigation of the chemical constituents of a typical mediterranean species, Phillyrea latifolia L. (Oleaceae). Two secoiridoid glycosides, three phenylpropanoid glycosides, one lignane and two triterpenic acids were isolated from the leaves of this species and identified. The phytochemical analysis of the aerial parts of P. latifolia revealed that it is a rich source of oleuropeoside.

To determine the content of the dominant groups of biologically active substances (tannins, polysaccharides, flavonoids) and bioelements in aerial parts of ten species of the Rosaceae family, which grows in Siberia: Potentilla anserina L., P. longifolia Willd., P. canescens Besser, P. bifurca L., P. tergemina Sojak, P. argentea L., P. goldbachii Rupr., P. sericea Dulac., Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb., Filipendula ulmaria (L.) Maxim. To determine the concentrations of essential and conditionally essential trace elements defined by the method of atomic emission spectroscopy. First identified plants of the genus Potentilla (P. canescens, P. tergemina) and Filipendula (F. ulmaria), accumulate significant quantities of lithium – 14,6, and 11,0 13,3 mg/kg, respectively, making them promising for further studies on the isolation and identification of active substances with the aim of creating innovative drugs. Investigated the content of heavy metals (Pb, Hg, As, Cd), the values of which meets regulatory requirements. Useful properties of the examined species family Rosaceae are determined by the content of biologically active substances (flavonoids, polysaccharides, tannins) and the complex of macro - and micronutrients. It is revealed that a dominant position in the spectrum belongs to the macronutrients potassium, calcium and magnesium (4,300 to 27,000 mg/kg). Among micronutrients the leading role is copper, followed by iron, silicon and manganese having important biological value, in particular, involved in the process of hematopoiesis.

Phytochemical analysis of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of the aerial parts of Coccinia barteri was carried out. These extracts exhibited satisfactory inhibitory activities against bacteria and fungi strains, which include; Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium notatum and Rhizopus stolonifer. Methanol extract of C. barteri possesses antioxidant activity by scavenging DPPH free radical with IC50 of 187.56 μg/mL, using DPPH antioxidant assay. GC-MS analysis of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of the plant principally revealed the presence of phytol, ethyl hexadecanoate and clionasterol with their corresponding percentage abundance of 57.75%, 18.33% and 9.79%, respectively.

Studies on the influence of biologically active substances with immunomodulatory properties on the productivity of greenhouse cucumber were conducted in the winter-spring turnover of the sixth light zone in 2019-2020. The paper analyzes data on the prevalence of major diseases in cucumber plantings, the intensity of respiration and photosynthesis in plants, the level of yield and yielding of standard crop products, depending on the use of immunomodulating substances against the background of the main nutrition scheme. As a result of scientific research, it was found that the use of immunomodulators (arachidonic acid, hydroxycinnamic acids, triterpenic acids, salicylic acid) in the technology of cucumber cultivation activated the protective properties of plants against pathogens, contributed to the activation of the intensity of respiration, photosynthesis, obtaining an increased yields and the output of standard products.

We are engaged in the ongoing investigation into the chemical constituents of liverworts in our search for novel compounds and biologically active substances. In the present study, two new rosane diterpenoids were isolated from the Argentine liverwort Anastrophyllum species, together with known aromadendrane sesqui- and rosane diterpenoids. Two new ent-kaurene and 4 ent-kaurene diterpenoids were isolated from the Malaysian liverwort Jungermannia species. Their structures were determined using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy techniques, circular dichroism spectroscopy, and chemical transformation.

In this analytical review, data on the proteins characteristics and main biologically active compounds (BAC) composition of quinoa grains (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) as well as pharmacological and nutritional properties are considered. The main BAC groups of quinoa grains are polyphenols, steroids and phytoecdysteroids. Quinoa grains is a food raw materials with high nutritional value and unique phytochemical composition. Food products derived from quinoa and their individual chemical constituents have a variety of advantageous properties. Further research of this object will allow to assess its advantages over other cereals and understand the mechanism of action of its BAC, to develop new functional food ingredients in specialized food products.

The genus Potentilla (Potentilla L.) is a member of the family Rosaceae, widespread in temperate, Arctic and Alpine zones of the Northern hemisphere. The genus is known since ancient times for its healing properties. Modern pharmacological studies have confirmed traditional use of the extracts of Potentilla species in various diseases. Phytochemistry representatives of Potentilla L. are poorly understood. Biotechnology for the production of renewable raw materials is only developed for Potentilla alba L.Objective – to conduct phytochemical analysis of biotechnological raw materials and Potentilla alba L. Potentilla fragarioides L., identification of features of the elemental composition and accumulation of biologically active substances in comparison with intact plants.The result of the research developed in biotechnology for the production of biomass of P. fragarioides. The evaluation of the intensity and specificity of accumulation of chemical elements in bodies of regenerated plants of P. alba from the nutrient media in tissue culture. The elements of vigorous accumulation of Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Mo Cu, and the element of a strong accumulation of Co. These features of the elemental composition of plant material P. alba, depending on the production method. Estimated purity, content of water and alcohol-soluble extractives, and certain groups of biologically active substances.It is revealed that white Potentilla and cinquefoil zemlyannikova are the hub of flavonoids and tannins. The incidences of accumulation of biologically active substances in the bloodroot zemljanichnoe exceed the targets set for the white cinquefoil, both traditional and biotechnological raw materials.

Introduction. Currently, close attention in the field of pharmacy and medicine is directed to the search for new sources of biologically active substances of various origins, including vegetable. The woody plant Elaeagnus argentea is considered as a promising source. Despite its widespread use in the food industry, folk medicine as an anti-inflammatory, restorative, antimicrobial agent, the chemical composition of this plant has not been sufficiently studied.Aim. Qualitative and quantitative determination of the main groups of biologically active substances (BAS) in the raw material (leaves) of Elaeagnus argentea growing on the territory of the Astrakhan region for further development of a methodology for standardizing the raw material of this plant.Materials and methods. The leaves of Elaeagnus argentea were harvested in the spring in the eastern part of the delta of the Astrakhan region (Volga region). Drying of raw materials was carried out in natural conditions. In the study, unified methods were used: to determine the amount of flavonoids and saponins, the spectrophotometric method was used, ascorbic acid - the titrimetric method. For the analysis of flavonoids in the leaves of Elaeagnus argentea, an aqueous-alcoholic solution of 70 % concentration was used as an extractant. The quantitative content of flavonoids was determined in the obtained raw material extract in terms of luteolin-7-glucoside. The amount of saponins in the leaves of Elaeagnus argentea was determined in terms of oleanolic acid. 96 % ethanol was used as an extractant. The quantitative determination of ascorbic acid in the aqueous extract of crushed raw materials was carried out by titrimetry based on the ability to reduce 2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol.Results and discussion. In the pharmacognostic study of biologically active substances in the leaves of Elaeagnus argentea, the content of ascorbic acid was found to be at least 0.32 %, the amount of flavonoids in terms of luteolin-7-glucoside was at least 1.92 %; saponins - 2.38 %; which indicates the need for a more detailed study of the phytochemical composition of other morphological groups of the plant Elaeagnus argentea growing in the Astrakhan region.Conclusion. The data obtained during the study can be used to confirm the quality of raw materials (leaves) of Elaeagnus argentea. A more detailed study of leaves for the presence of other groups of biologically active substances will make it possible to use the obtained data for the development of regulatory documents for medicinal plant raw materials «Elaeagnus argentea leaves».

Background: Eremostachys macrophylla Montbr. & Auch. is one of the wild growing species of herbs found in East Azerbaijan province of Iran. These species are used in folk medicine for the healing of wound, treatment of snake bites, rheumatism and joint pains. The primary aim of this study was to obtain natural pure compounds and this was done by subjecting the aerial parts of Eremostachys macrophylla Montbr. & Auch. to phytochemical analysis. Methods: The air-dried and crushed aerial parts were respectively extracted with n-hexane, dichloromethane (DCM) and methanol (MeOH) solvents using a soxhlet apparatus. The 10%, 20% and 40% of MeOH in water Sep-Pak fractions of the MeOH extract were subjected to a preparative reversed- phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). Also, the isolated pure compounds were identified by one-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (1D-NMR) spectroscopic technique. Results: The results obtained in this study showed the presence of seven pure components; (1) Lamalbide, (2) Sesamoside, (3) Phlomiol, (4) Verbascoside, (5) Luteolin-7-O- glucoside, (6) Apigenin-7-O- rutinoside and (7) Kaempferol-3-O- glucoside with iridoid, phenylethanoid and flavonoid structures. Conclusion: The results from the study demonstrated that the aerial parts of E. macrophylla could be a good source of iridoids, phenylethanoids and flavonoids.
