This research seeks to investigate whether Islamic work ethic is linked to individuals’ attitudes towards computer use ethics, job satisfaction and organisational commitment. The research used a cross-sectional self-administered survey method in the International Islamic University Malaysia. A total of 310 survey questionnaires were distributed to academic staff in four faculties i.e. Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Human Science and Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Economics and Management Sciences faculties. Cluster sampling was used in the selection of academic staff from several randomly chosen class schedules. The study found that Islamic work ethic within a university environment is linked to individuals’ attitudes towards computer use ethics, job satisfaction and organisational commitment. Implications and areas for future research are also discussed.

This study aims to identify and analyze the role of Islamic Work Ethic and locus of control in improving job satisfaction both directly and indirectly. The study population is 607 Muslim Civil Servants (PNS) and working in regional work units (SKPD) North Buton Regency. The sample that obtained for this study are 124 civil servants (PNS). Sampling was done by using a proportional (proportionate random sampling), in each instances, with 8% of precision rate. The data collection method was a customized questionnaire survey method based on Likert scale 1-5. The analysis tool used is Partial Least Square (PLS) with hypothesis testing process used software application program Smart PLS 3.0.The results showed that the Islamic Work Ethic and Locus Of Control has a positive and significant influence either directly or indirectly on Job Satisfaction, thus concluded that the Islamic work ethics and locus of control proved to increase employee satisfaction in work units (SKPD) , North Buton Regency. The practical contribution of this research is to provide information to the Civil Servants (PNS) and Local Government in order to always improve understanding and programs related to the increase in work attitudes Civil Servants (PNS), especially in the scope of work units (SKPD). While theoretically this study contribute to the development of different models of measurement variables from previous studies, in which the role of the Islamic Work Ethic variables and Locus of Control as exogenous variables are reflective, while job satisfaction variables as endogenous variables are formative. Abstract This study examined the contribution of social–demographic characteristics, employee attitudes and environmental factors in explaining levels of organisational commitment amongst public sector social workers in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected in the summer of 2016 from employees at twelve local directorates of the Ministry of Social Development (N = 237) in the West Bank. Palestinian social workers reported extremely high levels of overall organisational commitment. Results of multiple regressions revealed predictors of this outcome, including job stress, job satisfaction and service orientation. As hypothesised, job satisfaction and service orientation were positively related to the dependent variable. Surprisingly, higher levels of job stress were related to higher levels of organisational commitment. Implications for organisational policies and future research are discussed.

This study investigates the role of Islamic work ethic as mediator between transformational leadership and work outcomes (organizational commitment, job satisfaction and turnover intention). This study used a sample of 370 employees from 60 Islamic microfinance institutions in Central Java, Indonesia. The results of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) indicate that transformational leadership has a positively significant impact on Islamic work ethic. The findings also noted that Islamic work ethic directly and positively affect both organizational commitment and job satisfaction on the one hand, and negatively influences turnover intention on the other. Overall the model supported that Islamic work ethic has a significant role to mediate the the relationship betweem transformational leadership and work outcomes. Implication, limitation and suggestion for future research are discussed.

Job motivation plays a vital role in determining job satisfaction levels. In the Malaysian Polytechnic context, limited studies have investigated the influence of job motivation on job satisfaction among academic staff. Therefore, this study aims is to examine the influence of job motivation on job satisfaction among polytechnic academic staff. This study employs quantitative research and single-cross sectional study. The data is gathered using the survey method. The result of multiple regression analysis shows that job motivation significantly and positively influences job satisfaction. More specifically, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation show a significant and positive influence on job satisfaction. It implies that improving job motivation in terms of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is critically important to increase job satisfaction among polytechnic academic staff. Therefore, this study will contribute to polytechnic management as an indicator in the decision-making process to achieve the desired goals in the future.

High job demands are considered a risk factor for uncivil behavior in the workplace but the mechanism behind this relationship remains unclear. The current study aimed to analyze emotional exhaustion and job satisfaction as sequential mediators of the relationship between job demands and instigated workplace incivility within the integrative framework of affective events theory and the job demand–control model. Data were collected from 102 university academic staff in Klang Valley, Malaysia, via snowball sampling method. The results supported the predicted three-path mediation model with age, gender, and employment contract type as covariates. High job demands led to emotional exhaustion, which, in turn, led to a decrease in job satisfaction level and as a result gave rise to instigated workplace incivility. Implications, limitations of these findings, and directions for future research are further discussed on how to enhance and establish a civil and respectful workplace.

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing turmoil in the health aspect and spread to the economic sector where most of the economic activity has stopped to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Businesses will be disrupted, including business actors who will experience difficulties and even bankruptcy. The small business sector is most affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 due to the absence of outside activities by most of the community. This research aimed to identify business optimism during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Cross-sectional designed research with non Probability Sampling using the survey method by distributing online questionnaires (Google Form). The analysis data using SPSS software. The research results stated that the respondents believe that the business they did during the COVID-19 pandemic can still run well, business after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic will be even better. This research is expected to reference future research regarding the business forecast for business actor behavior, business improvement strategies, and other business-related research during the pandemic.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Islamic work ethics on job satisfaction, turnover intentions and organizational commitment and its three dimensions: affective commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment. This method of analysis used a simple regression to determine the relationship of independent variables and dependent variables. The analysis used descriptive analysis to present the main characteristic of the samples. Islamic work ethic used instrument developed by Ali, job satisfaction was measured by Dubinsky and Harley’s instruments, organizational commitment used instrument by Bozeman, Perrine, Meyer and the turnover intentions adapted by previous research, Home and Griffith. The collected data was tabulated and analyzed using softwareStatistical Pakage for the Social Sciences (SPSS)16.0. This research selects 10 Islamic microfinances in Pekalongan city.  Results show that Islamic Work Ethic is positive significant related to job satisfaction, affective commitment, continuance commitment, normative commitment, and negative influence related to turnover intention variable. From this research, the application of Islamic Work Ethics was a solution to job satisfaction and organizational commitment and less contributes to turnover intention.

Work motivation and job attitudes are important for productivity levels among academic employees. In situations where employees perceive problems, for example, health-related and work environment-related problems, the ability to perform at work could be affected, which may result in fewer publications, reduced quality and less research funding. Few studies, however, have paid attention to productivity loss among academic employees in order to understand how, or if, the perceived loss is affected by the reported problems, either alone or in combination with work motivation and job attitudes. To evaluate whether attitudes towards work—measured as job satisfaction, organisational commitment and work motivation—are associated with productivity loss in the workplace, a cross-sectional study was conducted. This type of design is required as performance is highly variable and is affected by changes in health and work status. This study includes employees who reported either health-related problems, work environment problems or a combination of both (n = 1475). Linear regression analyses were used to answer the hypotheses. Higher levels of motivation, job satisfaction and organisational commitment were associated with lower levels of productivity loss among employees who experienced either health-related or work environment problems. High work motivation and high commitment were significantly associated with lower levels of productivity loss among employees who experienced a combination of problems. In summary, productivity loss among academic employees is not only affected by health-related problems or problems in the work environment but also by work motivation, job satisfaction and organisational commitment; i.e., these factors seem to buffer, or moderate, the reduction in performance levels for this group of employees.
