This work analyzes political mythologization, in particular within the framework of the dialectical confrontation between the artificial images of the “Messiah” and the “World Demon”. The purpose of the work is to identify the constructive and functional features of a political myth with a specific teleological purpose. Among others, an important task is to identify the destructive trends caused by the speculative influence of a political myth. The research methodology includes the dialectical method used as a tool for investigating the internal contradictions of the political myth phenomenon This method was also used to analyze the opposition of two artificial images (the “Messiah” and the “World Demon”). The analysis of authenticity (as the correspondence between positioning and content) of political mythologization as a kind of speculative system was used to identify its specifics of functioning and impact on the objects that are the main targets. This method in combination with the primary deconstruction of a monolithic myth is necessary for the subsequent synthesis of the obtained results. The modeling method allowed us to form the characteristic features of a political myth. Some elements of ethical and psychological approaches, as well as the approaches of religious studies were also used to fix the pragmatic and speculative aspects of a political myth. The following results were obtained: 1) aestheticization is an important component of a political myth; 2) for all their seeming abstractness, the images of political mythologization have pragmatic literality; 3) the parasitical nature of political mythologization was revealed; 4) the relativity of the concepts of freedom and individuality in a political myth was shown; 5) the aspect of conformism and pragmatism of political mythologization was established; 6) political myths create conditions for destructive behavior and attitudes.

The article introduces the creative work of the famous American playwright Sam Shepard, whose works are almost unknown to our Uzbek reader. His plays are well known throughout the world; they influenced the formation of the worldview of readers of different nations and show the peculiarities of American culture. Despite the worldwide fame of Sam Shepard’s works, they are not studied well by literary critics. In America and Europe his works have been studied in details for a long period, and even several monographs in English have been written. However, neither in the Russian speaking, nor in the domestic literary criticism there is yet no major work on Shepard's works. The article also deals with the artistic features of the political myth of the “American dream” in one of the most scandalous plays, “The God of Hell,” dedicated to the protest against the war in Iraq. Thus, this study, which touches upon some issues of Shepard's creative work in connection with his innovative artistic originality, to a certain extent, seeks to fill this gap.

Abstract The paper addresses the complexity of social issues in contemporary American society through the prism of its reflection in theatre and literature. The characteristic features of American narratives and performatives are freedom and an almost utopian belief in diversity and social understanding. At the same time, the discussed works present a comprehensive look at social issues using a great variety of forms and genres, and appealing to the aesthetic sensitivity of different groups of recipients. In the face of future problems in the political arena, American art offers an interesting transatlantic perspective on the complexity of 21st-century issues which are relevant all over the world.

This article pairs the lenses of religious studies and political analysis in order to understand better the utopian future envisioned by the Book of Zephaniah. Identifying prominent political elements in light of common ancient Near Eastern models of statehood, it focuses on the political process that the Book of Zephaniah sees as culminating world history. The elimination from Judah and from other nations of those who do not follow or submit to Yhwh is correlated with empire formation, followed by a surprising shift to a territorial state model in which the remaining citizens of the nations and of Judah form a unified religious community without sharing a common homeland. The study concludes with reflections on the utility of political analysis for understanding religious utopian visions of the future.

The present study is devoted to the identification of structural, semantic and functional features of the expression’s means of the motivation’s category by the example of the analysis of the using explicit and implicit forms of the implementation of the voluntative function of a language in the poetic works of the Austrian poetess Ingeborg Bachman and the Ossetian poet Nafi Dzhusoity. The ways of implementing the category of motivation in a poetic text are considered through the prism of German- and Ossetian-speaking linguocultures. The choice of a linguoculturological approach to the study of direct and indirect forms of verbalization of the voluntative function in poetic texts is explained by the close relationship of language and culture. The picture of the world, which includes certain ideas about the surrounding reality, determines the characteristic features of the author's idiostyle, determining the choice of certain artistic means. The analysis of the means of will’s expression allowed us to conclude about the high density of the use of imperative forms in the poetic works of I. Bakhman and N. Dzhusoity. In particular, there is a wider use of the grammatically marked form – imperative – in the texts of both authors. According to the results of the study, the imperative can be qualified as the dominant form of expression of the motivation’s category in both German and Ossetian languages. Further study of the poetic works of these authors revealed the predominance of direct means of representation of voluntary semantics in the texts of I. Bakhman and indirect forms – in the poetic works of N. Dzhusoity. This observation allows us to make a preliminary conclusion about the differences in the German- and Ossetian-speaking linguocultures, which, of course, needs confirmation based on the analysis of more extensive empirical material. Therefore, basing on the conducted research, we can conclude that for the most complete and correct study of the national picture of the world, an analysis of the poet's idiostyle at different language levels – pragmatics, semantics and grammar – is necessary.

EVERY HUMANITARIAN ACTION TAKES PLACE WITHIN A POLITICAL context. This means that all humanitarian organizations, such as those which operate under the sign of the Red Cross, must devise a humanitarian policy which will be valid in the long term, based on a thorough analysis of the political context, the characteristic features of an epoch, the structures of political societies, the interaction of profound forces and the world political system. This humanitarian policy in its turn entails the development of a humanitarian strategy which is distinct from the tactical moves imposed by the diversity of situations and crises. Neglect of this work of reflection results in contradiction and confusion and, worse still, humanitarian activity can be degraded into a tool of politics.

In the political lexicon, the following expressions are traditionally used “sport is an ambassador, a symbol of peace, friendship and unity throughout the world”, “athletes are people’s diplomats”, “athletes, sports teams have done much more for their country with their success than politicians and diplomats”. A feature of modern diplomacy is the democratization of protocol, the frequent organization of meetings at the highest level at sports stadiums, and the constant replenishment of diplomatic terminology with new concepts. The purpose of the study is to trace the characteristic features of sports and diplomacy in sports diplomacy. The main objectives of the research are to find out what is common and different in sports and diplomacy, to identify the features of the development of modern sports diplomacy.

This article discusses a filmic research methodology that notices the tangible aesthetic affective entanglements of entities. It explicitly notices traces of self as discernible in others as mattering and is understood as an affirmative movement that may enable an uptake of equal opportunity in education. This filmic work with former Australian schoolgirls expands on Bill Nichols’ framing of performative documentary by drawing on Karen Barad’s new materialist theory of intra-action, during the making and multiple re-presentations of the research. This phenomenon demonstrates the political power of the named “re/active documentary” as a perpetual and co-created intra-action with participants, image, “things,” and virtual audience. Difference in this research is not exterior but a movement of connections where the entanglement of participants, researcher, film artifact, and audience are fluid emergent parts co-constituted within the world.

Abstract The article attempts to forma a definition of contemporary political myth. This definition is formulated against the background of concepts that have been presented so far in sciences close to the topic of myth, such as religious studies, anthropology, sociology, linguistics, philosophy, and cultural studies. The contemporary political myth becomes an independent form which, not contradicting the definitions of myth in other scientific disciplines, is transferred, updated or created from scratch in order to liberate and direct the political energy inherent in society. The contemporary political myth becomes an unverifiable fiction which, through referring to images and symbols, often replaces a discussion or rational arguments. Despite its irrational nature, it has a distinguishable impact on the society and the political activities and behaviour undertaken within it.

Ukrainian religious studies have deep roots. We find the elements of it in the written descendants of the writings of Kievan Rus. From the prince's time, the universal way of vision, understanding and appreciation of the world for many Ukrainian thinkers becomes their own religious experiences. The main purpose of their works is not the desire to create a certain integral system of theological knowledge, but the desire to convey their personal religious-minded perception of the divine nature, harmony, beauty and perfection of God created the world.

An important problem of religious studies, the history of religion as a branch of knowledge is the periodization process of the development of religious phenomenon. It is precisely here, as in focus, that the question of the essence and meaning of the religious development of the human being of the world, the origin of beliefs and cult, the reasons for the changes in them, the place and role of religion in the social and spiritual process, etc., are converging.
