White turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.) Roscoe) is one of Indonesian herbal medicine. The extraction process to get active compound was influenced by some factor such as solvent, temperature, time, and method of extraction. The objective of this study was to determine the significant factor of extraction  that is solvent, temperature and time of extraction on the polyphenol content and antioxidant activity of white turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.) Roscoe) rhizome. Extraction was done by dynamic maceration method with variations (23 factor variable design) of solvent (ethanol 95% and water), temperature (25°C and 70°C), time (6 and 24 hours). The method of analysis of polyphenol content using Folin Ciocalteu reagent, and the antioxidant activity using DPPH free radical reduction method. The experiment design and data analysis using software Design Expert ver.10. The result showed that extraction using ethanol 95% at 70°C for 24 hours was gave high polyphenol content and antioxidant activity. Data analysis was showed that polyphenol content and antioxidant activity was influenced only by solvent of extraction. This study indicated that solvent is significant extraction factor for polyphenol content and antioxidant activity of white turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.) Roscoe) rhizome. Keywords: Antioxidant, Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.) Roscoe, extraction, polyphenol

The aim. To determine the intensified method of extraction of phenolic compounds from Acorus calamus leaves and optimal conditions for the process. Materials and methods. In order to develop the optimal intensified method of extraction samples were prepared in different conditions of raw materials-extractant ratio, temperature, time and multiplicity. As a raw materials spectrophotometrically pre-standardized Acorus calamus leaves were used. The extraction was carried out in a hermetically sealed ultrasonic extraction reactor PEX 1 (REUS, Contes, France). As the criteria of extraction efficiency were indicators of dry residue and total amount of flavonoids determined using methods described in State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine. The amount of flavonoids was determined spectrophotometrically on a certified device Specord 200 (Analytik Jena, Germany). Results. According to our research results it was found that ultrasonic action and addition of surfactant significantly improves the efficiency of the extraction process. The optimal conditions for the process were determined. Experimentally proved that the rational raw material-extractant ratio is 1:15. Comparative study of the extraction process with different temperatures showed that the highest amount of extractives is achieved at temperature 70 °C and 45 min of duration. The optimal extraction multiplicity is 3. Conclusions. As a result of the study, the intensified extraction method for Acorus calamus leaves – re-maceration with ultrasound – was established. The conducted researches allowed to develop the method of extraction, expedient in the conditions of the modern pharmaceutical industry.

This research aimed to optimize the total polyphenol content (TPC) extracted from soybean sprout powder under different experimental parameters, including ethanol concentration (60–100% v/v), extraction temperature (40–80 °C), extraction time (15–150 min), material:solvent ratio (1:4–1:10 g/mL), the number extraction cycles (1, 2 and 3 times), the age of sprout (0–7 days), and the used part of the sprout (cotyledon, hypocotyl, or radicle). The obtained results were used in response surface methodology, in combination with a central composite design, to model the total polyphenol content (TPC) with respect to three variables, including ethanol concentration, extraction temperature, and material:solvent ratio. The experimental conditions for optimal recovery of TPC consisted of ethanol concentration of 88% (v/v), extraction temperature of 59 °C, material:solvent ratio of 1:6.5 g/mL, extraction time of 60 min, and 2 cycles of maceration. In addition, for maximal TPC, the sprout should undergo the germination of 5 days and the radicle fraction should be used. Based on the suggested optimum conditions, the obtained and verified TPC was 19.801 mg genistein (GE)/g dry weight (d.w.). The obtained dried extract also exhibited low antioxidant activity.

Jasminum Subtriplinerve Blume (Oleaceae) is herbal plants widely a tea for weight loss, stimulates milk glands. Extract product it easy used yet had little research. This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of extracting conditions such as water/material ratio, extraction temperature and extracting time on extracting yield, polyphenol content and antioxidant activity of J.subtriplinerve extract. The total phenolic compounds were determined according to the Folin–Ciocalteu method. Extraction yield (0.22g/100 g) was obtained at water/material ratio 15:1 (ml/g), 40°C and 4 hours extraction time. Under these optimized conditions, the polyphenol content of was 2640.4 μg/1g extract. And the extract can harvest 46.11 % of DPPH (30 μg/ mL) at 10 000 μg/ml concentration

This study expands the usage of Citrus madurensis ( Citrofortunella microcarpa), which is a good source of skin whitening and antioxidants activation in cosmetics. The goal of this study is to provide cosmeceutical activity data about the extraction yield and total polyphenol of calamondin orange by optimizing the focused high ultrasound (INEFU), ultrasound extraction (UE), and water extraction (WE) conditions. Under optimal extraction conditions, which consisted of 1800 W for 45 minutes (INEFU) and 500 W for 45 minutes (UE), 21.55% (w/w) and 13.27% (w/w) of the highest extractions yield and total polyphenol content was obtained. For the skin whitening activity, tyrosinase inhibitory activity was observed at 69.28% in the INEFU extracts, which was 69.24% higher than that of the UE extracts (58.82%). To reduce melanin production in Clone M-3 cells, 86.9% melanin production was observed following the addition of control, WE relative to the control without a sample, and 81.2% and 78.9% were found in the UE and INEFU conditions, respectively. The highest total phenol secretion was conclusively obtained under the optimal conditions and resulted in a significant improvement of the cosmetic activities of C. madurensis ( C. microcarpa)-based cosmeceutical ingredient.

The content of secondary metabolites of Euphorbia tirucalli L plants namely flavonids, phenols, saponins, and tannins This study was conducted to determine the content of secondary metabolite compounds and the antioxidant activity of twig leaves of fractured plants. Secondary metabolites are obtained from the extraction process with ethanol solvent using maceration and partitioning methods. Phytochemical screening research methods are carried out by color testing using various reagents. The data analysis technique was carried out qualitatively. The results of the study on phytochemical screening showed that they positively contained flavonoids which were marked by changes in color to yellow, tannins and steroids while the alkaloids, saponins and triterpenoids were negative. This study can be concluded that fracture plants contain secondary metabolite compounds namely flavonoids, tannins and steroids. Keywords : Knowledge; Compliance; Tuberculosis.

Dried Roselle calyxes were used to extract polyphenols by ultrasonic technology. By using single factor test and orthogonal test, the ultrasonic extraction process of roselle dry calyxes polyphenols was optimized. Antioxidant effect of the extraction was measured by the clearance rate of diphenyl picryl hydrazinyl radicals. The optimized extraction conditions were determined as follows:extraction temperature, 45°C; solid-liquid ratio, 1:15; extraction time, 20 min; ethanol solvent, 75%. Antioxidant activity was examined by the comparison between the sample with the highest polyphenol content and butylated hydroxytoluene. The result shows that the sample has stronger antioxidant ability than butylated hydroxytoluene.
