The article presents research data on indices of lipid peroxidation (TBA–active products and hydroperoxides lipids) in the blood of broiler chickens on the background of vaccination and disease Nyukasla for the actions of vitamins E and C.The study was conducted on three groups of 100 broiler birds each. Control group fed normal chicken feed. The first research group in addition to poultry feed said received – tocopherol acetate in an amount of 0.1 g/kg feed, the second – ascorbic acid 0.25 g/kg feed. The third research group chickens – tocopherol acetate and ascorbic acid at these doses. For research use blood that was in the chicken after decapitation at different ages: 11–, 27–, 34– and 41–day age. The results of performance of different age groups broiler chickens compared with the value of the index poultry 11–day age for vaccination, and a control group of birds.Studies have shown that the content of intermediate and final products of lipid peroxidation in the blood plasma of broilers depends on the age and period of immunization. Feeding high amounts of vitamin E and C in the composition of feed for broiler chickens caused a reduction (p < 0.05 – 0.001) content in plasma lipid hydroperoxides and TBA–active products. PAUL likely lower rates of broiler chickens research groups suggest reducing the negative impact of stress factors on their bodies on the background of vaccination against the disease Nyukasla. These changes were more pronounced in the blood of chickens, which in addition to the basic diet receiving tocopherol acetate and ascorbic acid.

Protein content and the ratio of its fractions were investigated in the serum of broiler chickens during the growing period with the addition of vitamins E and C to their ration. The investigations were performed in one of the farms in Lviv region on four groups of 100 broiler chickens in each, starting from 1- to 41-day-olds. Chickens in the control group received a standard ration, the first experimental diet with tocopherol acetate, the second experimental – ascorbic acid, and the third – a complex of these vitamins. Poultry research were conducted at different ages: 27-, 34-, and 41-day-olds. The content of common protein was determined in blood serum – biuret method and the range of soluble proteins – by vertical electrophoresis in plates of 7.5 % polyacrylamide gel. Conducted research have shown that the use of tocopherol acetate and ascorbic acid supplements to compound feed of broiler chickens caused a rise in serum total protein content. However, these changes were more pronounced in chickens with the combined use of vitamins E and C in all search periods (P < 0.05–0.01), and also in 11-day-old broilers (P < 0.05), who used ascorbic acid supplement. In the search of the ratio of protein fractions was ascertained an increase in the content of γ-globulin fraction in chickens from the search groups regarding controls at 11 and 27 days of age. Herewith the differences were likely to be in broiler chickens, who used the tocopherol acetate supplement. Instead, 11-day-old chicks in this group had a lower b-globulin fraction (P < 0.05). However, in the serum of chickens from the experimental groups regarding control at 41 days of age a significantly higher content of the α-globulin fraction was registered. In general, the results of the searches showed that additional introduction of tocopherol acetate and ascorbic acid to chickens ration has a stimulating influence on the processes of protein biosynthesis and immune function in the organism of chickens in the process of their growth. This influence was more expressed in chickens with the combined use of vitamins E and C.

The purpose of the work was to find out the changes in the lipid composition of the liver and skeletal muscles of broiler chickens at different stages of growth under the influence of supplements of vitamins E and C in their diet. The studies were conducted on four groups of broiler chickens. The control group was fed a standard compound feed. The first experimental group in addition to the specified compound feed received tocopherol acetate in the amount of 0.1 g/kg, the second — ascorbic acid, 0.25 g/kg. The third experimental group of chickens received tocopherol acetate and ascorbic acid at mentioned doses. The lipids from these tissues were extracted by the Folch method, and the ratio of individual lipid classes was determined by thin layer chromatography on silica gel. The results of the studies indicate the stimulating effect of vitamins E and C on the accumulation of total lipids in the skeletal muscles and liver of broiler chickens. In addition, we can conclude that feeding the broiler chickens of supplements containing vitamins E and C during the period of intensive growth promotes the increase of lipid synthesis in their liver and deposition of synthesized lipids in skeletal muscle. However, these processes are accompanied by a redistribution of the ratio of individual lipid classes in the investigated organs and tissues of chickens

The paper studies the influence of feeding broiler chickens in the composition of animal feed preparation BPS–44 and various doses of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae on the intensity of lipid peroxidation (LPO) in terms of vaccination against Gumboro disease.The study was conducted on four groups of chickens at 100 birds each. The control group of chickens fed a standard feed (SC) and a 15–day–old vipoyuvaly vaccine against Gumboro disease (Gumbokal IM Forte SPF). The first experimental group of birds, in addition to the UK received – probiotic BPS–44 (based on Bacillus subtilis strain 44) in an amount of 0.21 g / kg, the second research group – 1% of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The third research group of chickens – 2% of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. For studies using the blood that was taken from the chickens after decapitation at different ages: 11–, 27–, 34– and 41–day–old.It was stated a higher content of intermediate and final products of lipid peroxidation in the blood plasma of broilers in the 27–, 34– and 41–day–old, compared with 11–day, which indicates an increase in the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes and indicates their dependence on age and poultry immunization period . Feeding broiler chickens in the composition of feed yeast Saccharomuces cerevisie and probiotic BPS–44 causes an inhibitory effect on the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes in their body, namely a reduction (p <0,01 – 0,001) content of lipid hydroperoxide and TBA–active products can be detoxication properties associated with study drugs.

The use of natural plant extracts in poultry feed could improve their productivity as well as the oxidative stability of stored derived meat. The roles of cornelian cherry extract (CCE) in growth, cecal microbes, and meat antioxidative markers of broiler chickens were evaluated. A total of 500 Ross 308 broiler chicks were fed diets supplemented with CCE (0, 50, 100, 200, 400 mg/kg of diet) for 38 days. The highest levels of weight gain and feed utilization were observed in a group fed 200 mg/kg of CCE. Maximum upregulation of glucose transporters—1 and 2 and sodium-dependent glucose transporter genes—were found in the group fed 200 mg/kg of CCE. Lactobacilli and Bifidobacterium colonization increased as the CCE levels increased. The greatest upregulation of antioxidant genes (glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase) in breast meat was observed in groups fed CCE (200 and 400 mg/kg). Dietary CCE significantly delayed the lipid oxidation of breast meat compared with that of the control group. The total phenolic content, 2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrihydrzyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and reducing power in meat improved with higher levels of CCE. Dietary CCE improved the growth, performance of broilers, and meat antioxidant stability after 90 days of storage.

Abstract PurposeThe therapeutic activity of Glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) is mainly regulated by liberating nitric oxide (NO) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS). During this biotransformation, oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation inside the red blood cells (RBCs) occur. The principal objective of our research is to explain the ameliorating effect of L-ascorbic acid for the deleterious effects of chronic administration of nitrovasodilator drugs. MethodsWe studied some biochemical parameters for the oxidative stress using groups of high sucrose/fat (HSF) diet Wistar male rats chronically orally administered ISMN. Afterwards, we evaluated the role of L-ascorbic acid against these biochemical changes. ResultsChronic treatment with organic nitrates caused elevated serum levels of lipid peroxidation, hemoglobin derivatives as methemoglobin and carboxyhemoglobin, rate of hemoglobin autoxidation, the cellular levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines marker (NF-κB) and apoptosis markers (caspase-3) in myocardium muscles in a dose dependent manner. Meanwhile, such exposure caused decline in the enzymatic effect of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH) and catalase activity (CAT) accompanied with a decrease of in the level of mitochondrial oxidative stress marker (nrf2) in myocardium muscles and decrease in the serum iron and total iron binding capacity (TIBC) in a dose dependent manner. Concomitant treatment with L-ascorbic acid significantly diminished these changes for all examined parameters.ConclusionChronic administration of organic nitrates leads to the alteration of the level of oxidative stress factors in the myocardium tissue due to generation of reactive oxygen species. Using vitamin C can effectively ameliorate such intoxication to overcome the nitrate tolerance.

The use of dried olive pomace as complementary energy sources in poultry feed is still limited due to its low protein and high fiber contents. Bioconversion of olive pomace through solid-state fermentation with or without exogenous enzymes is considered as a trial for improving its nutritional value. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of fermented olive pomace with or without enzymatic treatment on the growth, modulations of genes encoding digestive enzymes and glucose transporters, meat oxidative stability, and economic efficiency of broiler chickens. A total of 1400 day-old broiler chicks (Ross 308) were randomly allocated to seven dietary treatments with 10 replicates of 20 birds/replicate. Treatments included control (basal corn–soybean diet) and other six treatments in which basal diet was replaced by three levels (7.5, 15, and 30%) of fermented olive pomace (FOPI) or enzymatically fermented olive pomace (FOPII) for 42 days. The highest body weight gain was observed in groups fed 7.5 and 15% FOPII (increased by 6.6 and 12.5%, respectively, when compared with the control group). Also, feeding on 7.5 and 15% FOPII yielded a better feed conversion ratio and improved the digestibility of crude protein, fat, and crude fiber. The expression of the SGLT-1 gene was upregulated in groups fed FOPI and FOPII when compared with the control group. Moreover, the expression of the GLUT2 gene was elevated in groups fed 7.5 and 15% FOPII. By increasing the levels of FOPI and FOPII in diets, the expression of genes encoding pancreatic AMY2A, PNLIP, and CCK was upregulated (p &lt; 0.05) when compared with the control. Fat percentage and cholesterol content in breast meat were significantly reduced (p &lt; 0.05) by nearly 13.7 and 16.7% in groups fed FOPI and FOPII at the levels of 15 and 30%. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents in breast meat were significantly increased in groups fed 15 and 30% FOPI and FOPII when compared with the control group and even after a long period of frozen storage. After 180 days of frozen storage, the inclusion of high levels of FOP significantly increased (p &lt; 0.05) the levels of glutathione peroxide and total superoxide dismutase and meat ability to scavenge free radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl. Furthermore, the highest net profit and profitability ratio and the lowest cost feed/kg body gain were achieved in groups fed 7.5 and 15% of FOPII, respectively. The results of this study indicated that dietary inclusion of 15% FOPII could enhance the growth performance and economic efficiency of broiler chickens. Moreover, a higher inclusion level of FOPI or FOPII could enhance the quality and increase the oxidative stability of frozen meat and extend the storage time.

An experiment was carried out to examine the effects of L-carnitine supplementation on growth performance and cardiopulmonary function of broiler chickens reared at high altitude (2100 m above sea level). A total of 96 day-old male chicks (Cobb 500) were randomly assigned into two dietary treatments containing 0 (control group) and 200 mg/kg L-carnitine. The experimental diets were fed for a period of 42 days consisting of the starting (days 1 to 21) and growing periods (days 21 to 42). Nutrient requirements of chickens met the NRC (1994) recommendations. The results showed that dietary L-carnitine had no significant influence on body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio. L-carnitine reduced plasma concentration of malondialdehyde, packed cell volume (PCV) and abdominal fat deposition compared to the control (P < 0.05). A significant (P < 0.05) decrease was observed in the right to total ventricular weight ratio (RV:TV) in birds receiving L-carnitine when compared to the control. Supplementation of L-carnitine increased plasma nitric oxide and immune responsiveness, which manifested in an increased toe-web thickness index measured at 24 h following the injection of phytohaemagglutinin P. In conclusion, supplementation of L-carnitine had beneficial effects on preventing lipid peroxidation and pulmonary hypertension in broiler chickens raised at high altitude.

Studies were conducted to determine the effectiveness of the use of various doses of pharmaceutical substances based on the extract of a medicinal plant thyme on the quality indicators of broiler meat. The work was done in a broiler farm. Formed control and 5 experimental groups of day-old broiler chickens with 37 heads in each group. Chickens of the control group were fed the basic ration, broilers of the experimental groups additionally received a pharmaceutical substance obtained from the medicinal plant thyme in various doses: the 1–2 mg / kg, 2–4, the 3–6, 4–8, 5–10 mg / kg body weight daily. At the end of poultry rearing, the slaughter qualities of carcasses, the development of internal organs and the chemical composition of the pectoral muscle are determined. At the end of the study, the positive effect of thyme extract on the indicators of anatomical cutting of broiler chickens was established. In the 3th, 4th and 5th experimental groups, significant differences were found compared with the control group. Thyme extract did not have a negative impact on the development of the internal organs of broiler chickens. There are no significant differences in chemical composition and the amount of essential amino acids in the pectoral muscles of broilers.

The development of stomatitis is characterized by the appearance of oxidative stress, which is marked by an increase in the intensity of peroxide lipid oxidation processes, resulting in metabolic disturbance in oral mucosa. As a result, toxic substances accumulate and endogenic toxicity develops. Thus, correction of pathological processes in the oral mucosa with antioxidant medication enables to optimize the intensity of inflammation, shorten the period of catabolic phase and accelerate the regeneration. Extract of Geranium palustre herb as a dental film was used to reduce the intensity of processes of lipid peroxidation and endogenous intoxication. This treatment method enables to release an active substance from the drug locally and to provide optimal therapeutic effect. The efficacy of the experimental medication was studied in the dynamics of experimental ulcerative stomatitis development in rabbits. The experimental model of ulcerative stomatitis in animals was induced with a burn method. For the experiment, the animals were divided into 2 groups: control group, where treatment was not performed, and experimental group, where animals were treated by applying a dental film with Geranium palustre extract. The monitoring was conducted on the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 10th days of the experiment, which are key stages of healing. During these periods, blood was taken under anesthesia from the auricular vein of each experimental animal. Dynamics of prooxidant processes was detected by the level of lipid hydroperoxides and malondialdehyde, and the level of endogenic toxicity by the content of middle molecules. Statistic processing of the obtained results of investigation was performed using personal computer with installed proper software package StatSoft Statistica 10. Reliable difference was considered р<0.05. It has been shown that extract of Geranium palustre herb, as a dental film, has antioxidant properties, which are effectively reducing the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes. It should be mentioned that the content of lipid hydroperoxides and final product of lipid peroxidation processes – malondialdehyde – in experimental animals’ blood was statistically lower in all periods of investigation than in control group, where treatment was not performed. The obtained results show that higher inhibiting effect of experimental medication is marked during the final stage of lipid peroxide oxidation than during the initial stage. As the result showed, the development of endogenic toxicity was observed in both groups and the highest indices were recorded at the peak of the inflammatory process on the third day of the experiment. Dynamics of middle molecules content shows that application of Geranium palustre extract, as a dental film, decreases this index during all investigated periods and reduces intoxication level in experimental animals. Thus, application of dental film in stomatitis treatment enables to release medication directly into the damaged area, which significantly increases therapeutic effect of biologically active substances of Geranium palustre phytocomplex, and rapid absorption of the film in the oral cavity provides easy use. Considering efficacy, non-toxicity and availability of the investigated medication, the expediency of its application in dental practice for the treatment of stomatitis and other inflammatory diseases of the oral mucosa may be considered.

In vivo experiments were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a yeast cell wall fraction (YCW) to reduce the negative impact of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) to the intestinal epithelium in broiler chickens. Zeta potential (ζ-potential), point of zero charge (pHpzc), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques were used to characterize the YCW. Two hundred one-day-old male Ross 308 broiler chickens were randomly allocated into four treatments: (1) control, chickens fed an AFB1-free diet; (2) AF, chickens feed an AFB1-contaminated diet (500 ng AFB1/g); (3) YCW, chickens fed an AFB1-free diet + 0.05% YCW; and (4) AF + YCW, chickens fed an AFB1-contaminated diet (500 ng AFB1/g) + 0.05% YCW. At the end of the 21-day feeding period, fluorescein isothiocyanate dextran (FITC-d) was administered to chicks by oral gavage to evaluate gastrointestinal leakage. Blood and duodenum samples were collected to assess serum biochemistry and histomorphology, respectively. Compared to the control group, chicks of the AF group significantly diminished weight gain (WG) and average daily feed intake (ADFI), and increased feed conversion ratio (FCR), mortality rate (MR), and intestinal lesion scores (p &lt; 0.05). Alterations in some serum biochemical parameters, and damage to the intestinal integrity were also evident in the AF-intoxicated birds. YCW supplementation improved WG and FCR and increased villus height, villus area, crypt depth, and the number of goblet cells in villi. The effects of YCW on growth performance were not significant in chicks of the AF + YCW group; however, the treatment decreased MR and significantly ameliorated some biochemical and histomorphological alterations. The beneficial effect of YCW was more evident in promoting gut health since chickens of the AF + YCW group presented a significant reduction in serum FITC-d concentration. This positive effect was mainly related to the changes in negative charges of YCW due to changes in pH, the net negative surface charge above the pHpzc, the higher quantities of negative charged functional groups on the YCW surface, and its ability to form large aggregates. From these results, it can be concluded that YCW at low supplementation level can partially protect broilers' intestinal health from chronic exposure to AFB1.
