Aim. A quantitative study on generational differences showed a decrease in optimism among the young generation (Karaivanova, 2016). The present work aims to study in detail the relationship between individualistic values, self-esteem, and optimism among the Millennial generation. Optimism is a general expectation for positive results and positive events in life (Radoslavova & Velichkov, 2005). Method. A sample of 204 respondents from 20 to 35 years old voluntarily filled in a survey containing scales measuring individualistic values, self-esteem, and optimism. The relationship between these variables was tested using regression and mediation analyses. The results were processed using the statistical software SPSS, version 22.0.0.0, and the lavaan application in R Studio. Results. The theoretical model created and tested in this study proved to have good explanatory power for the dependent variable optimism explaining one-third of its variance and gives significant clarity on the relationship between individualistic values, self-esteem, and optimism for the young generation in Bulgaria. Conclusion. Individualistic values turned out to predict self-esteem. The more individualistic a person is, the higher they perceive their competences and social image. At the same time, being individualistic, i.e. being open for change and following one’s own interests does not make young people look more optimistically towards the future and believe in the solution of every problem they encounter. Individualistic values have a positive mediated effect on optimism with self-esteem as a mediator. Having strong self-confidence makes young people have positive expectations for the future.

Aim: The present study was designed to examine relationships between young people’s self-concepts and their perceptions of their futures Methods: High school students (n = 347) completed measures of the two domains of self‑concept, the evaluative domain, self-esteem, and the knowledge or structural domain, self-concept clarity. They also completed two measures of perceptions of their futures, optimism and future time perspective. Results: Both measures of self-concept were positively correlated with both measures of perception of the future. For both measures of perceptions of the future, regression analyses found that when perceptions of the future were regressed onto the two measures of self-concept perceptions of the future were significantly related to only self-esteem. Relationships between perceptions of the future and self-concept clarity were not significant. Analyses of mediation found that self-esteem mediated the relationship between self-concept clarity and both measures of perceptions of the future. Conclusion: Young people with a clearer sense of self and who have higher self-esteem are more optimistic and perceive a longer future than young people with a less clear sense of self and who have lower self-esteem; however, the effects of self-concept clarity disappear after the relationship between clarity and self-esteem are taken into account.

A few days before the wedding he decided to go to say goodbye to Pavlovskaya to her homeland, Ukraine. In his letters to the future wife the poet tried to smooth out the tension of the situation, perhaps anticipating that he would be bounded with I.M. Runt 30 Литературный факт. 2021. № 2 (20) by a long-term relationship, where life and literature are closely interconnected. The letters are published for the first time.

Ukrainian youth from the beginning of the country’s independence was a catalyst for democratic changes. From the Revolution on Granite, through the Sumy’s Revolution on Grass and Orange Revolution to the Revolution of Dignity and the war in the East, undeniably it was the youth who fought for the future of Ukraine. While appreciating the contribution of young people to the contemporary history of Ukraine, it is essential to ask which national heroes and what historical events are important to the young generation. Thanks to the research conducted in 2017-2018 on a representative group of Ukrainian youth (1043 respondents), the author can answer that question. The results show that there are no surprises; the research confirms the all-Ukrainian results and shares knowledge on this subject. However, it is worth emphasizing some surprises, as well as the frequent selection of the answer “neutral attitude” to historical events, which may indicate the lack of historical knowledge among the surveyed youth.

This article, which is based on a comparative telephone survey conducted in 2016, examines the relationship between social mobility experience and the life satisfaction of people aged 18 to 35 in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Using both objective and subjective measures of social mobility, we found that young people’s perceptions of their own social mobility and that of the entire youth population correlated positively with life satisfaction. However, the objective upward experiences of intragenerational and intergenerational mobility did not have a significant effect on life satisfaction. In addition, the objective upward experiences of individuals were found to be uncorrelated with the perceptions of their own social mobility and that of the entire youth population. These findings suggest that young people will not become more satisfied even if they themselves have actually experienced upward mobility, because their positive perception of social mobility depends on whether they can move upward to their desired status. It is the expected social mobility and the competence to achieve rather than the actual past mobility experience that could affect the life satisfaction of the young generation in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

This article reveals the features of the development of self-esteem and achievement motivation in older adolescents. Adolescence is considered a crisis period in human ontogenesis. In modern studies, there is a steady increase in the formation of unfavorable personality traits in adolescents. At this age, problems with self-esteem of the individual are more common, since the teenager's interest in himself, his self-perception and the need to understand himself are activated by the processes of puberty and psycho-physiological changes. The danger of this tendency for the future generation lies in the fact that inadequate self-esteem can cause the development of insecurity, complexes, anxiety, aggression, and can also act as a factor in suicidal behavior of adolescents. It should be noted that for many years Kazakhstan has been among the ten countries in the world in terms of the number of suicides among adolescents and youth. In modern socio-economic conditions, it is especially important to achieve a high level of development of a teenager's personality, and the formation of such qualities as self-confidence, motivation to achieve success. Therefore, the study of the relationship between self-esteem and the motivation for achieving success of the younger generation, along with modern social and revolutionary changes, is one of the urgent problems. The article presents an analysis of the results of an empirical study, the purpose of which was to identify the relationship between self-esteem and motivation for achieving success in adolescents. To achieve the goal of the study, the following psychodiagnostic methods were used: the method of G.N.Kazantseva "Study of general self-esteem"; the method of A. A. Rean "Motivation for success and fear of failure". The results suggest that there is a close positive relationship between self-esteem and achievement motivation in adolescents

The article analyses the pedagogues’ experience in applying the model of integrated assistance to the child in school. The research involved 15 teachers responsible for coordination of the assistance to a specific child; the teachers represented three Lithuanian schools which have implemented the developed model. The pedagogues, as case coordinators, recorded the experience of implementation of the integrated assistance model in schools in their reflections. They’ve written down the reflections once per week in the form of a semi-structural electronic pedagogical diary. According to the analysis of the research data, in applying the integrated assistance model one of the major changes is the change in the learning motivation. The changes in learning motivation are related to changes in pupils’ learning outcomes, their involvement in the learning process, and school attendance. Pursuant to the research, self-esteem building is especially important for personality changes in children, and this ensured the increase of self-confidence. Improved relations between the child and his/her family and between the teachers and pupils were noticed in the relationship with the others. It is to be assumed that coordination of common actions of children, parents, teachers and other concerned assistance institutions had impact on the occurrence of these changes, as well as individualization of the assistance and anticipation of personal responsibility for a specific case management.
