The object of this research is the commemorative practices of cultural-historical reconstruction. The subject of this research is the inversion of temporality in festival practices of cultural-historical reconstruction. The goal lies in determination of specificity of temporal representations of historical reenactors through the prism of the concept of inversion of social time. For achieving the set goal, the author carries out a secondary analysis of interviews with the planners and participants of the historical reconstruction festival “Times and Epochs”. The materials of Russian media comprised the empirical basis for this work. Most informative source was portal “The City”, which published interviews with the representatives of historical reconstruction movement from various Russian cities, socio-demographic and professional groups. The novelty of is defined by introduction of the new theoretical and empirical material into the scientific discourse. The memorial culture and cultural-historical reconstruction are viewed as significant and effective factors of collective commemoration from the perspective of temporal approach for the first time. The conducted analysis allowed determining multivariation of the motives and intentions underlying the commemorative practices of cultural-historical reconstruction. The festival “Times and Epochs” is viewed as an example of commemorative practice, where the subject of commemorative activity is the collective past, actualized within metropolitan sociocultural space in terms of the project-network approach. The author reveals the problems of development of the festival as a memorial project, as well as prospects of its integration into the urban environment.

With Singapore serving as the subject of exploration, The Hard State, Soft City of Singapore explores the purview of imaginative representations of the city. Alongside the physical structures and associated practices that make up our lived environment, and conceptualized space engineered into material form by bureaucrats, experts and commercial interests, a perceptual layer of space is conjured out of people’s everyday life experiences. While such imaginative projections may not be as tangible as its functional designations, they are nonetheless equally vital and palpable. The richness of its inhabitants’ memories, aspirations and meaningful interpretations challenges the reduction of Singapore as a Generic City. Taking the imaginative field as the point of departure, the forms and modes of intellectual and creative articulations of Singapore’s urban condition probe the resilience of cities and the people who reside in them, through the images they convey or evoke as a means for collective expressions of human agency in placemaking.

Summary A city nowadays has become a really complex and multi-layered structure containing the features of a phenomenon. It is a formation that has transformed or forced to rethinking many “standardized” urbanistic theories and approaches. By its shape and content it is a dynamic, constantly changing and multiple system related to other larger urban structures forming larger-scale urbanized networks. Due to such peculiarities, the city and its aesthetic qualities can no longer by judged and defined by the categories of the 19th and 20thcenturies. Its issues and problems have long ago trespassed the boundaries of a single scientific discipline. Nevertheless, the issue of urban aesthetics and composition still remains very relevant, especially bearing in mind recent global socio-cultural conditions and the related urban unification, as, following the intense wave of urbanization, many Lithuanian towns, with the capital Vilnius preeminently, have changed a lot, both on “the outside” (cityscape) and “the inside” (local visual perception) within the last decade. Many examples of such recently transformed towns in Lithuania just testify the fact that the issue of aesthetics and composition has been almost or totally ignored in further developing or newly shaping the centers of such towns. By exploring quite a large number of foreign and Lithuanian sources of urban theory and examples of urban space and composition analysis (these are presented in the attached bibliography), the article author aims at reviewing and analyzing the categories of urban composition, its theoretical approaches and insights. This text is a presentation of interim results of the larger research. Some thesises and concepts have been also presented in different scientific conferences and publications, in the Lithuanian and English languages. Santrauka Analizuojant daug užsienio ir Lietuvos urbanistikos teorijos literatūros šaltinių ir urbanistinės erdvės (Urban Space) bei kompozicijos analizės pavyzdžių, pateikiamų šio straipsnio literatūros sąraše, apžvelgiamos ir analizuojamos urbanistinės (arba miesto) kompozicijos kategorijos, teorinės nuostatos bei sampratos. Šiame tekste pateikiami tarpiniai didesnio tyrimo rezultatai. Kai kurios jo tezės ir nuostatos buvo paskelbtos mokslinėse konferencijose bei mokslinėse publikacijose lietuvių ir anglų kalbomis.

The article reveals the actual problem of young people’s public opinion about interethnic and interfaith relations in multicultural border regions of Russia, which are exposed to the increased impact of cross-border threats to information security. The purpose of this article is to identify the similarities and differences in the orientations and attitudes of perception of interethnic and interfaith relations by the working youth of Krasnodar Region and the Republic of Crimea. The study was conducted on the basis of the results of questionnaire sociological surveys synchronously implemented in the Kuban and in the Crimea (August – October 2018). The novelty of the article lies in the choice of its purpose, the subject of the research and the collected empirical material. As a result of the work, conclusions were drawn about the increased conflictiness of interethnic and interfaith mutual perceptions of working youth in the Republic of Crimea, about the predominance of socio-cultural delimitation “Slavs – Crimean Tatars”, which largely coincides with confessional disengagement. Ethnic distances on the scale of E. Bogardus in the Crimea are clearly pronounced asymmetrical. The area of increased conflict is established in the Dzhankoy district and the city of Simferopol with suburbs. Migration processes and migration policies are perceived by the working youth of Crimea as a less controversial and ethnically marked process than the youth of Kuban.

The aim of the study is to present the implemented “smart” solutions and the developed indicators of their measurement in the context of the city of Częstochowa (Poland), as well as a participant in the “Benchmarking—we are looking for the best smart city solutions”. In order to achieve the assumed goal, a traditional review of the literature on the subject in the field of “smart city” was carried out. Then, the methodological assumptions related to developing a model set of indicators for cities participating in the program have been presented. In addition, a comparative analysis of the obtained indicators values for cities, Częstochowa and Bydgoszcz, has been carried out in the scope of one exemplary measure. The proposed research procedure can be used to analyze and evaluate cities in the country, as well as to select alternative solutions in the context of other urban features. Due to the fact that other cities in Poland will also participate in the study, the significance of this work will have a wide impact. The research presented in the article is only a part of an intended larger initiative in which several dozen Polish cities will take part.
