The paper analyzes the technological preparation of production at the railcar enterprises in terms of developing technological processes and processing sets of technological documents. Factors affecting the quality of technological preparation of production for maintenance and repair of rolling stock are considered. In contrast to the previously performed works, where the assessment of the level of technological training was carried out by experts of a scientific organization, the initial data in the article were the results of a survey of specialists of technical departments of structural divisions of the car industry of the Sverdlovsk and South Ural Railways. Based on the method of expert qualimetry, the weight of factors that have the greatest impact on the quality of technological processes is estimated. As a result of the survey, a low level of automation of design processes was established, which consists mainly in the design of technological documentation. It is shown that the degree of depth of development and detail of technological processes is at the level of the route description

PurposeAutomation facilitates production activities within offsite construction (OSC) projects through computer-controlled and mechanised systems that can be programmed to deliver various products in a self-regulating sequence. Despite known benefits of automation to offsite production, the level of automation adoption in New Zealand is low. This study is an effort to understand the current status of automation within the New Zealand construction industry and to identify the barriers and enablers to its uptake.Design/methodology/approachThis study utilises the qualitative approach of semi-structured interviews (open-ended questions). Using a referral sampling strategy (snowballing), fifteen New Zealand industry experts were interviewed, and the data collected were analysed using qualitative content analysis.FindingsThe study found that there is a weak business case for full automation. Four main categories of barriers to the uptake of automated OSC were identified, including requirement of high capital cost, lack of education about automation and OSC and non-existence of regulations to support OSC. It was noted that financial supports to the OSC sub-sector in form of subsidies, tax waivers, and enhanced leasing model could enhance the uptake of automation. Further to this more awareness about OSC's automation and regulations suitable for OSC could enhance the confidence of business owners to invest in this area.Originality/valueOriginality of this paper stems from the fact that, not much attention has been paid to investigating the uptake of automation for OSC sub-sector of construction industry in New Zealand context.

Abstract This paper presents assessment of technological usefulness of panel production line in prefabrication process of large ship hull sections, in which special attention is paid to producibility of welding operations. Basing on the assessment these authors worked out hierarchy of analyzed sequences of welding technological processes as well as production line stands used for the processes. The assessment was performed on the basis of analysis of a concept of panel production line based on real production lines functioning in shipbuilding industry, as well as technical documentation of typical hull sections of a multi-purpose ferry. The presented analysis took into account impact of technological - constructional parameters onto producibility of welding process of prefabricated sections. Among these parameters the following were numbered: mass of the sections and number of their elements, total length of welds, labour consumption, material consumption as well as linear heat input in welding operations. On the basis of the achieved results, places which worsen effectiveness of production line operation were identified, as a result it was possible to formulate proposals for modernization of flow prefabrication line for hull sections.

The article presents the list of singular indicators of technological support of technologies and the method of determining their actual values and their quality levels. According to the results of determining the quality level of technological processes, one of three management decisions can be made. The paper describes singular quality indicators that are directly related to the quality of technological processes in the machine-building industry, at the stage of design and preparation of technical documentation. And also presented are complex quality indicators, based on which determine the generalized indicator of quality of the evaluated technological process. As a result of the work the features of conformity assessment of technological processes and related mandatory requirements are formed. Also described is the process of obtaining a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the quality of the technological process with a detailed description of all necessary formulas

The basis of training of chemists-technologists of chemical profile is the formation of their professional competence. It is necessary that future professionals gain knowledge of modern innovative chemical engineering technologies for modern production and be able to apply them in practical conditions when preparing bachelors in the specialty 161 "Chemical Technology and Engineering". The proposed approach is the development and formation of students' theoretical ideas and knowledge about processes, effective use of technological means, process development, training with design and technical documentation, using modern methods of computer design. It was argued that the specifics of classroom and independent work of students in basic and elective disciplines - is the result of a competency-based approach. Specialized-professional competencies include knowledge of technological processes, knowledge of technological documentation, skills to map technological processes; knowledge of technological process design and skills to conduct various types of project analysis; knowledge of research methods and skills of organizing research and analysis of their results; ability to use theoretical knowledge and practical skills to master the basics of entrepreneurship. The prospect of a competent approach to the study of disciplines in students of this specialty is the formation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of calculation and choice. The purpose of this approach is to provide students with knowledge of technical means and systems of automatic control and regulation of basic technological parameters of chemical-technological processes through modern information technologies used to create and manage technological parameters.

Introduction. The aim of the work is to develop a mathematical model of a part based on a parametric model of graphic systems. Material and Methods. The review of the status of the question of developing a mathematical model of a part based on graphic systems showed the possibility of controlling the geometric shape of a part through the variables of a parameterized drawing. A proposal was made to use design parameterization in the calculation of the parameters of technological processes in computer-aided design systems. Results. The article establishes links between the design parameters of the part drawing and tabular values of the variables. The revealed relationships between the parameters in the drawing and the variables in the table make it possible to change the geometric shape of the part by changing the values in the variable table, i.e. the drawing is managed through the table. It is proposed to use this system of work with the parametric drawing in computer-aided design systems for calculating the parameters of technological processes. Discussion and Conclusion. The tasks solved in this article allow making a step in increasing the level of automation of parameter calculations in computer-aided design systems. The implementation of the developed methodology for constructing mathematical models of parts based on graphic systems will increase the overall level of automation of developing geometric drawings of parts. The implementation of this technique in computer-aided design systems allows automating the calculation of parameters (cutting modes, time norms, technological dimensions on transitions, etc.).

Purpose One group of risk governance actors that recently came into focus for empirical studies is the board of directors. In this context, the increasing number of directors that work on more than one board committee (committee overlap) as well as its effects on monitoring effectiveness has become a prevalent subject of discussion. In this context, this paper aims to investigate the current status of empirical research on how committee overlap affects monitoring effectiveness. Design/methodology/approach A meta-analytical approach is used, encompassing a total sample of 167,449 observations. The authors consider several determinants of monitoring effectiveness such as reporting quality, executive compensation, pay for performance-sensitivity, CEO turnover, audit fees, qualified audit opinion and investment/overinvestment. Findings The authors’ meta-analysis proves that research on the effects of committee overlap yielded highly controversial results. Although there is no correlation between overlap and monitoring effectiveness at the general level, the presence of their relationship is still confirmed in a few subcategories. The authors also verify that the legal requirements regarding board structure and committee overlap has a certain influence, particularly in the common law system. Originality/value The meta-analytical insights help to derive statements that are more comprehensive and go beyond the results of the investigated primary studies. Furthermore, the insights offer implications for firms, theory and new opportunities regarding future empirical research to address unresolved questions.
