ABSTRACT Objective: to understand the perception on hospital pedagogy of family caregivers of pediatric cancer patients in the Department of Córdoba, Colombia. Method: a qualitative study with an ethnographic approach whose results were obtained through interviews, participant observation and focus groups with 25 family caregivers enrolled in the database of the UNICOS, Volunteer School Support Program, of the University of Córdoba. Data was collected between February and June 2017, coded and organized in three axes: conceptions of hospital pedagogy, activities and didactics and values of the hospital pedagogue; and analyzed under the technique of multiple triangulation. Results: all caregivers belong to the female gender, between 20-40 years old, incomplete high school level, in a consensual union and unemployed; pedagogy is conceived as an act of love that is limited by the lack of adequate spaces and materials; the graphic-plastic activities and the interactive didactics that include music, directed readings and videos are the children's biggest preferences; in addition, the hospital pedagogue is conceived as a special person, with human warmth, sympathy and listening skills. Conclusion: hospital pedagogy is a strategy that allows coping with the disease, recognition of children and caregivers as subjects of rights and opportunities, and consolidation of inter-sectorial and interdisciplinary work for the development of the child's health.

If a university or course of study to apply for accreditation, graduation rate is one of the influential factors. Educational period targeted in 4 years or 8 semesters of study period. But in reality there are still many students who pass beyond the study period. In this case the university or course of study can utilize students' self data to predict the student's graduation rate. One of them by using the concept of data mining. In this research the authors used an a priori algorithm to find the relationship between departments taken at high school level with the level of graduation students. The student's graduation rate is measured by length of study and GPA. The calculation is using 2 ways that is by manual calculation and by using Tanagra software. Based on the results of the analysis from regular class A students of 2012/2013 which amounted to 23 data it can be found rule, if the majors taken at high school level is SMK, then the possibility of the student will graduate on time with a period of 4 years or less. The GPA that the student will achieve between 3.1 - 3.5. Keywords - Algoritma Apriori, Data mining, Student Graduation, Tanagra

Researchers at the University of Florida and Texas A&M University developed a survey to gain insight into demographic and educational influences on undergraduate students who major in horticulture. Five universities participated in the study of undergraduate horticulture programs. These included the University of Florida, Texas A&M University, Oklahoma State University, University of Tennessee, and Kansas State University. About 600 surveys were sent to schools during the 1997 fall semester. The questionnaires were completed by horticulture majors and nonmajors taking classes in horticulture departments. The survey consisted of two main sections. The first section, which was completed by all students, explored student demographic information, high school history, university history, and horticulture background. Only horticulture majors completed the second section, which examined factors influencing choice of horticulture as a major. Statistically significant differences were found between horticulture majors and nonmajors when comparing the two groups on the variables of transfer status, gardening experiences, and the importance of gardening. There was a significantly higher percentage of transfer students among horticulture majors. The decision to major in horticulture occurred somewhat early in academic programs, with the largest representations in high school or early in college. Overall, majors had more gardening experience than nonmajors and considered the hobby of gardening as a strong influence in choosing their major. This information should be considered in recruitment efforts since students reported that this interest fostered in them a desire to pursue horticulture as a major. School garden programs at the primary level and horticulture classes at the high school level could possibly influence more students to choose horticulture as a major at the college level. Currently, trends in recruiting efforts in academic programs at the university level are intense and competitive, as students are given more and more career option information. Consequently, data from this study may be useful for horticulture departments developing targeted recruiting programs.

A Tracer Study is research or a study of alumni tracking. Graduates or alumni are considered to have the most appropriate capacity to provide feedback as far as an evaluation of the institution is concerned. That is why the implementation of a Tracer Study is often attributed to the efforts of evaluation and improvement of the education system of an institution. Through the implementation of a Tracer Study, institutions can obtain information about possible deficiencies in the educational and learning process. In Indonesia, a Tracer Study is generally implemented to track alumni of a university and their associations in the working world. By seeing the usefulness of a Tracer Study at the university level, this study conducted an implementation of a Tracer Study at the high school level. The implementation itself focused on the determination of the respondent and the preparation of the questionnaire as a research instrument by accounting for the differences in the characteristics of high school and university graduates. The Tracer Study results were analyzed using correspondence analysis with Eigenvalue Decomposition (EVD). Data analysis was carried out on a case study about the relationship between non-academic activities and communication capabilities.

There is a need for outreach programs to attract a diverse range of students to the computing discipline. The lack of qualified computing graduates to fill the growing number of computing vacancies is of concern to government and industry and there are few female students entering the computing pipeline at high school level. This paper presents three outreach programs that have the underlying assumption that students need to be reminded about the creativity and potential of computing so that it remains on the radar of their future career options. Each program instigated social and cultural change through a paradigm shift where girls moved from being ICT consumers to ICT creators. By exposing students to a wide variety of ICT activities and careers during secondary schooling, they were more likely to consider studying information systems, computer science or any other computing course at the university level. Results are presented showing student attitudinal changes as well as observed increases in enrolments at secondary school and university courses.

In 1985, the National University of Mexico (UNAM) created a series of updating courses for high-school level teachers, both as an answer to an explicit demand of the teachers themselves, who asked for “fresh” information in their fields, and as an effort to improve the general level of undergraduate students, whose grades in the entrance examinations to the University had been secularly decreasing for years. To date, three “packages” of intensive 50-hour courses have been offered (during the three summer vacation periods) and Astronomy has been present in all of them. However, it should be mentioned that this presence was due only to the personal interest of the director of the project, since the subject “Astronomy” is not included in the official programs. In the following, we present a brief description of the courses and some interesting results.

Abstract Including students with significant disabilities at the high school level has been a subject of increasing research in recent years. This study explores the experiences of a high school student with significant disabilities, Michael, through the narratives of his peers. Participant observation in the building indicated that Michael remained on the periphery of mainstream school experiences as his peers worked with an institutional narrative that was predicated on normative expectations of all students. Using data from interviews, the article investigates how Michael's peers made sense of the process of inclusion that was implemented within this building. It documents the practical constructions of students as they used various elements of the normative discourse within the building to fashion their own interpretations of significant disability. These candid student commentaries retained a persistent focus on the extent to which Michael's program addressed (or failed to address) his fun-loving disposition while remaining critical of the rationale behind the practices it supported. As the data showed, peers' notions of fun for Michael were deeply intertwined with the opportunities for participation made available to him and the critical necessity for social interaction with his peers.

“Kampus Mengajar” aimed to assist the process of teaching and learning at the elementary-junior high school level through technology adaptation, teaching numeracy and literacy, and administrative procedures. The deployment of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, which required learning to be conducted online, will significantly help the school, especially related to technology adaptation. However, this program was less attractive to students and lecturers at the University of Merdeka Malang; this was evident from the relatively small participation of students and lecturers at batch 1. In the initial observation, the “Kampus Mengajar” was less attractive because it did not follow the existing scientific competencies at the University of Merdeka Malang; thus, it was difficult to conduct a credit conversion process. This low participation affects the IKU ranking, where the University of Malang is in cluster 3 with 75.21. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of the “Kampus Mengajar” as an effort to increase the participation of the University of Merdeka Malang academic community. This research was conducted using an exploratory survey research method. Data were obtained through questionnaires and FGDs. The results showed that the implementation of the Kampus Mengajar at the University of Merdeka Malang had been running through socialization at the central level to the study programs. There was an increase in participation in each batch, both lecturers and students.
