The aim of this study is to investigate students in classes 1-2-3-4, studying Pyschological Guidance and Counselling (PGC) at a university in T.R.N.C. (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) in their relationships with their parents and their attitudes towards marriage. The study includes 325 students and was conducted during the spring of 2015-2016. ‘Personal information forms’, ‘İnönü Marriage Attitudes Scale, ‘Attitudes towards Parents Scale I and II’ have been used in order to collect research data. The viewpoints of the student PCG group, who work with child and family, have been particularly focused in connection to all of these. The findings revealed that female students’ attitudes towards their mothers are better compared to that of male students. However, in terms of gender, no connection was found between attitude towards their father and their attitude towards marriage. As female PCG students’ attitude towards their mother increases, so too has their attitude towards their father and their attitudes towards marriage. For the men whose parents are still together (not separated), there is no link between their strong attiudes towards their parents and their attitude towards marriage. It has come to light that female students, whose parents are separated, have a stronger attitude towards their mother and father. No connection was found between the students’ parents being married or having separate living arrangements and the students’ gender. Male students with parents who live separately have a stronger approach towards their their mother and father.

Abstract Many studies have indicated that single-sex classrooms promote female students’ self-confidence and achievement in various professions, including professions where their rate of employment is low, such as mathematics and other exact sciences. The purpose of the present study is to examine the relationship between single-sex classrooms and math achievements among both female and male students. The study population included 608 students learning in the fifth-ninth grades, who attended state-religious schools in the southern region of Israel and came from families who had similar socioeconomic status. The students answered a short demographic questionnaire and their math teacher filled out each student’s score achieved in the regional math summative assessment. The findings showed no relationship between classroom type and boys’ achievement in mathematics, while a significant relationship was found between learning in single-sex classroom and higher math achievements among girls in elementary school. In middle school, however, no significant difference was found.

Abstract The aim of the research is to determine the changes in psychosomatic and somatic problems of future health educators by analyzing the relations of these symptoms with lifestyle factors. The same questionnaire was used in the surveys carried out in 2008 and 2013 in order to evaluate the variables. The respondents were asked how often they had different psychosomatic and somatic complaints over the last 12 months. These complaints were compared with health lifestyle (doing physical activity, frequency of alcohol consumption and smoking) factors. The participants in the first survey (2008) were 168 students (65 male and 103 female), while the participants in the second survey (2013) were 186 students (81 male and 105 female). According to the study results, sleeping disorders were more frequent in the first course male students in 2013 than in 2008. In addition to these disorders, female students complained that they had headache, shoulder and neck pain and backache. It was noticed that in the second survey there were more female respondents who smoked almost every day (17.9% and 8.1% respectively) and less physically active female respondents (52.4% and 21.6% respectively). Thus health educators who are less physically active have a greater probability to have psychosomatic and somatic problems.
