The aim of the article is to highlight the specificity of visual transformations that occur in the modern urban space under the influence of the development of creative industries. The research methodology involves an interdisciplinary approach and engaging a range of cultural, sociological, and philosophical works. The works of modern foreign researchers Z.Bauman, Ch. Landry, D.Hezmondhalsh are attracted. The sphere of urban planning and the problem of creative industries are being studied. Thanks to creative industries is appears new jobs, the solution of social problems (especially in poor areas), as well as the transformation of urban space. The modern city is a reflection of the transformational processes taking place in the world. There is a change in the form of regulation of the city development policy, from the state to the municipal. There are conditions for activating creative industries that can be defined as an individual creative background, skill or talent that can create added value and jobs through the production and exploitation of intellectual property. The development of creative industries has economic feasibility, but this process is accompanied by a change in the image of the city. Urban space is the text of culture, which often combines non-interconnected components. The visual image of the modern city is repulsive and attractive, it is difficult to bring it to a single concept, but it continues to be the center of human life. Scientific novelty lies in the study of the relationship of the development of creative industries in the urban space and their impact on the visual image of the city. Practical significance is connected with the emphasis on the need to invent an individual development strategy for each city as a “creative city”, where the sphere of cultural production is leading. Promising is the direction of creative industries in a single direction and minimizing the factors influencing the negative perception of the vision of the city.

The aim of the article is to highlight the actual trends associated with architectural construction and identify ways of forming a visual image of a modern city. The solution to this goal involves not only the analysis of certain unique architectural structures, but also the outline of the existing visual practices in the city which correlate with the urban landscape. The research methodology is connected with the use of the method of synthe- sis, the use of tools of cultural analysis. The most extraordinary buildings are rarely residential buildings, much more often they are intended for public use. Their very essence is con- nected with publicity and attraction of a considerable quantity of visitors, tourists. These can be museums, libraries, concert halls, stadiums, shop- ping malls. In addition to these structures, extremely impressive structures are created in the field of transport – bridges, railway stations. The re- equipment of old objects and the creation of new ones becomes such that necessarily creates an occasion for communication, becoming a part of the media. In architecture there is a desire to circumvent the principle of statics that was inherent to it. Manifestations of this tendency in architecture were attempts to "revitalize" the building, giving them mobility through structures that visually convey the idea of fluidity (asymmetric structures, often deprived of straight angles with the prevalence of rounded parts). Creating the effect of architectural variability arises not only at the expense of innovative constructions, but also due to the equipment of the buildings by media facades, which perform as a purely aesthetic and advertising function, providing the opportunity to represent buildings in fundamentally different visual images. Scientific novelty consists in highlighting the specifics of architectural constructions claiming the status of "art" and visual practices that in- teract with them directly. The conclusion is made about the transformation of a modern city. The practical significance of the study is that features of the development of modern architectural constructions are presented and the factors influencing the formation of the visual image of the city are highlighted.

It may be noted that in recentdecades, significant development gets such a direction as Urban Studies, in which the focus of research serves the city. The methodology of the study includes an appeal to an interdisciplinary approach that relies on the achievements of practical cultural studies, Urban studies, and aesthetics theory by Ukrainian and Western authors. Scientific novelty consists in analyzing the connection ofactual visual practices presented in the urban space and forming of Internet activity, which facilitates the mutual influence of these spheres one on another. The author noted that urban space is gradually becoming not only interactive, but also fully assuming the characteristics of WEB 2.0, which means active rethinking and transforming the environment, urban residents involvement in decision-making that becomes a norm of everyday life. Abstract Predicting the population size of a city is one of the key tasks preceding the creation of city development plans, seeing as how urban space management should be adequate to current and forecasted economic and social trends, including demographic ones. In many cities of the world, apart from capitals and metropolises, the phenomenon of depopulation and shrinking has been observed, which is due to a decrease in the fertility rate and a negative migration balance. Apart from the inhabitants registered in the city for permanent residence, there are also people living there temporary, including students. Some graduates will decide to stay in the city, thus increasing the population of the city’s residents. The purpose of the study described in this article was to attempt to determine the extent to which new-coming students are able to alleviate the effects of the adverse phenomenon of city depopulation. The city chosen as the research area - Olsztyn - has been experiencing the loss of residents for 10 years and is also the largest university center in the province. Understanding settlement / migration plans required a broad survey. As a result, it was concluded that the impact of graduates on inhibiting depopulation is relatively small as most of them planned to move out to a larger urban center, and only every fifth one declared a willingness to live in Olsztyn. Retaining graduates would require the development of the labor market towards new, well-paid jobs.

The paper deals with issues of high-rise building development and contemporary problems related to the formation of city development vision in Lithuania. The analysis focuses on the possibilities and problems arising in the process of developing the Special Plan of high-rise building arrangement in Klaipėda in the formation of the visual image of the city. The methodology of this Plan is discussed by the author in two papers. The present paper is the first one and analyses two stages of the plan development. The first stage is the analysis of the current situation in Klaipėda and possibilities to introduce high-rise buildings into the city morphostructure. This stage comprises 7 aspects: evaluation of the territory development from the point of view of investment possibilities; historical development of the city structure; hierarchy of values of preserved territories; analysis of the territory planning documents regulating townscape formation; evaluation of visual peculiarities; definition of visual identity zones, analysis and evaluation of important mass view points as well as evolvents of views seen from them. The second stage of developing the Special Plan constitutes efforts to define the conception of high-rise buildings arrangement on a city scale, central part scale and old-town scale. Santrauka Straipsnis skirtas aukštybinės statybos plėtros klausimui ir su tuo susijusioms šiandieninėms miesto plėtros vizijos formavimo problemoms Lietuvoje. Nagrinėjamos Klaipėdos miesto vizualinio įvaizdžio plėtros galimybės ir problemos rengiant Klaipėdos miesto aukštybinių pastatų išdėstymo specialųjį planą (SP). Šio plano metodikai aptarti autorė numatė parengti du straipsnius. Šiame, pirmajame, liečiamos dvi plano rengimo stadijos. Pirmoji – tai esama Klaipėdos miesto būklė, galimybės miesto morfostruktūroje rastis aukštybiniams pastatams; jos aptarimas apima 7 aspektus – miesto teritorijos pagal investicines plėtros galimybes vertinimą; miesto struktūros istorinę raidą; saugomų teritorijų vertybinę hierarchiją; dokumentų sprendinių, turinčių įtakos miestovaizdžių formavimui, analizę; vizualinių ypatumų vertinimą; miesto vizualinio identiteto zonų nustatymą ir svarbiausių masinės apžvalgos taškų bei iš jų matomo vaizdo išklotinių tyrimą ir nustatymą. Antroji plano rengimo stadija – tai aukštybinių pastatų išdėstymo koncepcijos paieškos miesto mastu, centrinės dalies mastu ir senamiesčio mastu.

This paper discusses the long-term vision of the historic city development, where buildings assume a new function over time. The discussion is based on the example of Palazzo Querini Stampalia and Fondaco dei Tedeschi – two monuments restored to Venice in a new, different role. In the comparative analysis of the transformation of the buildings, particular attention was paid to the cultural, social and economic context of the city. This article aims to review the strengths and weaknesses of the new-use scenarios, outlining the renovation of the monuments and its added value for cities. The author concluded that no matter what the new function of the building is, it is worth renovating them, because this way the heritage can survive and this should be the central objective of a long-term vision.

The main focus of this article is on defining the specific characteristics of public space organization in a modern Ukrainian city. The study identified the vector of change in the organization of public spaces in recent decades under the influence of changing socio-historical, ideological context and under the influence of globalization processes. It is determined that the main formats of using public spaces in the city today are pragmatic formats of use – the practice of commercialization of urban space, the practice of interaction with strangers, «domestication» of public space, «Europeanization» of public space, desacralization and marking of public space as safe and convenient.

The article examines the features of the perception of the urban environment as a specific phe- nomenon. The article considers the artistic works of a group of contemporary Ukrainian artists P. Makov, A. Sai, L. Dzhuraev, A. Priduvalov in the genre of urban landscape from the point of view of a conceptual approach, which allows us to understand the general direction of development of this type of genre. The works of contemporary Ukrainian artists reflect how a modern city creates an endless combination of connections between different aspects of life and the corresponding various forms and impressions. The article analyzes the works that the authors demonstrated as their reflections on changes in the urban environment in special creative projects. The urban environment causes a creative person to strive to convey his atmosphere, images, rhythms in his own language. For centuries, artists have depicted the urban space, but it was in the twentieth century that the transformation of the urban environment into an urban one contributed to the fact that the city became a source of special inspiration for subsequent times. The theme of urbanism is specific in the work of contemporary Ukrainian artists, where the very phenomenon of the city is the basis of creative inspiration. The aim of this work is to study the conceptual and programmatic works of contemporary Ukrainian artists to reveal the theme of urbanism in painting and the main trends in displaying the city as a concept in the work of artists.

Introduction. The paper attempts to find answers to the questions: will it be possible to preserve historical-cultural “face” of the city, or it will disappear under the onslaught of the advanced achievements of civilization; is there an urban space to a reasonable person, who have reached great technological heights, or directed against him; what are the ontological foundations of the modern city? The relevance of the author's approach is the analysis of the “concept” of the city as urogenous spatio-temporal macro model, which not only develops under the influence of the inhabitants, but also determines their worldview and behavior.Methodology and sources. Methodological basis of the work is the cultural and philosophical analysis of the “concept“ of the modern city in the works of domestic and foreign sociologists, and ethologists, urboecology, philosophers, anthropologists, art historians (V. G. Il’in, R. Park, L. Worth, E. Gorokhovskaya, I. A. Litvinova, V. I. Mathis, G. Simmel, E. Fromm, E. T. Hall, M. I. year-old boy, James W., Jean-Paul Ferrier, Jean-Albert Guieysse, Thierry Rebour, H. W. Zorbaugh, etc.). Used demographic statistics allowing to understand the issues of depopulation, migration and multi-ethnicity of the townspeople. Results and discussion. In modern culture hypertrophied original function of the city as a source of protection and comfort, it is a shift towards maximum convenience and independence of individuals. In the result, the urban environment is made, adapting to the challenges put forward by society. Historically “face” of the city gets lost. This jeopardizes not only the rich cultural heritage of the cities, but also the authenticity of the existence of the person. The ontological basis of the modern “concept” of the city is defined by urban characteristics: multiculturalism, multi-ethnicity, presentationhost (the image of the city), the superficiality of contact, the spontaneity of development, the blurring of boundaries. They not only make up the text of modern urban culture, but also form a macro model of society. Thus, the result of the study is the conceptualization of the contradictions of the modern city that provides for a person as comfortable as possible in the consumer environment at the same time directed against him or her.Conclusion. It is concluded that in the current ecological, demographic and economic situation, the question of understanding the role of modern urban culture in the search for a dialogue between the technogenic and informational development of civilization with nature, the historical and cultural content of the city with its image, and mass consumption with an original manifestation is most acute. The authors believe that it depends only on the person whether the urban space will exist for or against him or her.
