Reviewed is a selection of works composed by woman artist composer and songstress Maria Sadowska. These include songs from the “Women's Day” record and from a film of the same title, as well as “Revolution” from the “Table of Contents” album. Due to the method of interpretation I use, the criticism is feminist. I selected precisely these said works for study mainly because the artist has been largely inspired by mothers of feminist thought, such as Susan Sontag, Barbara Kruger and Simone de Beauvoir. The topics touched upon by the artist definitely fall within the interests of feminist criticism. And I hope that taking up the subject of feminism in this context is a timely response to current public interest.

The object of interest in this sketch is an analysis of the vocabulary indicating selected elements of the world of fauna and fl ora in Symbolika wiosenna (Spring symbolism) by Stefania Ulanowska (Kraków 1884). The collected language material is characterised by wealth and complexity of the subject matter. The indicated vocabulary has not been characterised yet. This paper employs elements of the cognitivist description of language. The selection of this method enables depiction of the relation between linguistic knowledge and encyclopaedic knowledge. Language becomes an indispensible element of mental processes of the perception of the world (Tokarski 1995; Miodunka 1980). The analysis of the excerpted material clearly shows that the discussed spring symbolism usually invokes, contrary to the prototype, the semantic fi eld related to ‘śmierć’ (death) rather than ‘życie’ (life). The reconstructed image of the folk idea of spring largely deviates from the ideas established in the consciousness of language users in general, which is confi rmed by the discussed examples. It presents unit connotations that are individualised and present in the consciousness of members of small rural communities of those times. Keywords: Stefania Ulanowska – vocabulary of fauna and flora

The selfish ambitions of mankind have done terrible damage to our planet. The results of the understanding that puts people in the foreground have caused great destruction in nature. The disasters that followed the warming of the climate made visible the effects of excessive consumption, unplanned urbanization, and destroyed forests on ecology and therefore on humanity. In recent years, the focus of art has also clearly shifted to ecology. Projects that define the coming of the world to the present and suggest future scenarios have been supported by institutions working on culture and art. In this context, photographers, who keep the record of the change of the world, are an important figure in individual or collaborative work on the subject. One of them is the Pictet Photography Award, which financially supports photography projects in the context of the environment and sustainability. In this article, the mission of the Pictet photography award, its method of operation, the reason for the selection of the determined themes and their importance today, the definition of the final photography projects in terms of content and aesthetics, and how they contribute to the photographers will be discussed. The purpose of the article is to justify the necessity of making a comprehensive educational e-dictionary from a number of disciplines within a certain domain, to show its place in the educational space, to find out compilation principles and usage specifics in the educational process. It is noted that modernization of the modern Ukrainian higher education system requires the search for new approaches to the organization of educational activities that would contribute to the creation of a comprehensive perception of the subject field. It is shown that the formation of the integral outlook of the professional to-be at the educational process as well as developing his system approach to analysis of any phenomena of reality can facilitate the selection and structuring of material on the principles of differentiation and integration. Part of this problem is solved by a complex educational e-dictionary, which is made up of the key concepts of disciplines of a certain speciality (in a particular case, a journalism). The logic and topicality should become conceptual foundations of the electronic dictionary, which will be represented in the elements of its macrostructure (prefaces, rules of using the dictionary, term register, conceptual-terminological groups of terms, illustrations). On the basis of thorough theoretical and applied lexicographic works, a system of lexicographic macrocomponents is developed that characterize the general structure of the dictionary and the principles of presentation of materials in it, as well as a system of microparameters that determine the properties of the term-dominants of the vocabulary article. The value of our research is that it describes in detail the micro- and macro tructure of the complex educational electronic dictionary, solves the key problems associated with the selection of terminology units of the register, and also outlines the advantages of the electronic dictionary in comparison with its paper analogue. The results of the study will promote convergence of sciences and the introduction of integration methods into education for the formation of a comprehensive perception of the world among students and, in particular, for individual understanding through the personal «self» how crucial it is to overcome the contradictions between people and environment.

The article is devoted to the study of metaphor as a basic constant of Spanish fictional discourse. The article deals with the peculiarities of the functioning of the Spanish fictional discourse, due to the specifics of historical development and the peculiarities of geographical location. The relevance of the study is due to the importance of considering the national and cultural specifics. Special attention is paid to the formation of the national picture of the world. The overview of the concepts of “picture of the world”, “ fictional discourse”, “metaphor” is given. The subject of the study is the texts of modern Spanish-language authors as J.J. Millas, Antonio Pometa, Pepa Merlo, Sara Mesa, Javier Mesa, Berta Marce. The above-mentioned authors actively use metaphor in their works, emphasizing a number of moments from the life of their characters, the peculiarities of their worldview, revealing a new implicit meaning inherent in the texts. The author of the article shows that metaphors become a basic constant of the Spanish fictional discourse, because of Spanish culture, being by its nature a culture of the hidden type, strives at all times of its existence to create works with a hidden meaning that require decoding and interpretation on the part of the reader. The Spanish authors create riddle texts with different readings and answers to the questions posed. The active use of metaphors determines the careful selection of vocabulary, showing the peculiarities of the national and cultural consciousness of the Spanish nation, which is prone to increased expressiveness of fictional discourse. The metaphor becomes not just a trope in the literary text, but the model that connects together different levels of the text space, being a semantic reflection of the model and picture of the world of Spanish authors.

Globalization and integration of the world market leads to internationalization of retail and overall trade. At the turn of the century, internationalization has become a widespread retail phenomenon. Thus, it has become a permanent and inevitable process. Internationalization of trade, especially retail, covers a large number of countries, but with varying intensity. The subject of this work is the achieved level of internationalization of trade, especially retail, on the markets of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Serbia. Arguments for the selection of these countries are numerous. One of them is the fact that both countries originated from the former Yugoslav federation. At the same time, Croatia is the newest member of the European Union (as of 1 July 2013), and Serbia signed the Stabilization and Association Process, and is on the way of opening membership negotiations. For these reasons, Croatian experience can serve Serbia as a landmark in the implementation of activities in the segment of trade and its internationalization. The paper aims at mapping Serbian activities in the process of further internationalization of retail.

What does it mean to understand the world religiously? How is such understanding to be distinguished from scientific understanding? And what does it have to do with religious practice, transfiguring love, and spiritual well-being? These are just some of the fascinating questions to be explored in this volume by a selection of the most distinguished and accessible writers in the field. The radical suggestion is that we require a new model of religious understanding—one that poses a challenge to the narrowly theoretical approach which has predominated in recent debate by giving due weight to its moral, spiritual, and practical dimensions. New Models of Religious Understanding sets a new and exciting agenda for philosophy of religion. It cuts across the supposed divide between analytic and continental approaches to the subject, and will engage the interest of a broad range of philosophical and theological readers.

The article is devoted to the analysis of a fragment of Kyiv Rus’ linguistic picture of the world and to the reconstruction of human ethic orientations of the Early Middle Age. The aim of this scientific research is to highlight the semantic scope and functions of language units in the Kyiv-Pechersk Patericon are to describe the moral and ethic portrait of a monk. The proposed theme of a study allows updating the analysis aimed at the reconstruction of the Old Ruthenians ethical ideals. The Kyiv-Pechersk Patericon is the first original collection of lives of the Old East Slavic saints of the 13th century. It does not only fully describe the images of the first Rus’ ascetics, but thanks to its unique structure it is the only one among the East Slavic written papers, which gives a valuable possibility to unite different materials into a holistic picture of the moral life in ancient Kyiv. The linguistic means of depicting the moral and ethical characteristics of the inhabitants of the monastery became the subject of the study. It is concluded that in the selection of the characteristics of the monks in the text under consideration there is a tendency to idealize, focus on the literary etiquette norms and highlight the concept of the honor of the clergy. A special attention is paid to such qualities as the allegiance to Christian teaching, humbleness, restraint, mercy, expressed through about 40 positively connotated substantive and adjective lexemes (some negative characteristics are isolated and, therefore, are not involved in the analysis). The selected names don’t perform any terminological functions (they are not components of the titles of the highest ranks of the clergy or namings of the faces of holiness) but rather represent moral and ethical characteristics. In the use of most part of laudatory epithets-definitions there is a tendency to associate them with a specific person, which in the process of further canonization will be the basis for the inclusion of each of them in the certain category of sainthood. According to the origin and character of their use, these lexemes pertain to the church-bookish element. The consistency in refusing to borrow Greek or Latin words to denote the holiness idea indicates a high level of language and cultural-religion consciousness and can be regarded as the main feature of the Slavic choice in denoting this idea. The proposed article considers one of the fragments of the lexical originality of the Kyiv-Pechersk Patericon, which opens us prospects for further studies of this ancient text at different language levels.
