Abstract. The initial training of Physical Education teachers has "undergone" deep changes along with educational reforms. What should remain equally relevant is that students, as future specialist teachers in this area, should be the ones who value the quality of their education. In this research, we use the tool validated by Moreno and Conte (2001), the Assessment and Training on Teaching in Physical Education (V.A.C.D.E.F.), which we applied to 39 Primary Education degree students who attend the program in Physical Education at a Center of the University of Cádiz. Among the most important findings, we emphasize that the majority of students feel well trained for carrying out the future teaching work. They agree with the contents that are imparted in their program, they are interested in the technical elements of sports and the specialty itself, as well as they strive for more practical classes within their training.

This study explored the underlying processes associated with the policy of increasing qualified physical education teachers (QPETs) in Singapore primary schools. Data were collected from the National Archives of Singapore, Newslink, NewpaperSG and documents. An ‘archaeological analysis’ by Foucault (1972) was used to trace the discursive conditions which enabled and facilitated the policy. Three distinct elements were borrowed from ‘The Archaeology of Knowledge and the Discourse on Language’, namely: the status – as reflected in the positions of individuals influencing the PE policies and initiatives; the institutional sites – as in the locations of the decisions being exercised, and; the situation – identified by the key events leading to the decision to increase QPETs in primary schools. The conclusions based on the analysis of these elements offer a clearer understanding of the various contributions to the adoption of the policy and serve to provide an insightful lens to policymakers who might seek to redesign the future shape of Physical Education.

The Teacher Integration Attitudes Questionnaire (TIAQ) was developed in order to assess the attitudes and beliefs of teachers (n = 110) with regard to the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular education settings. Using Structural Equation Modeling, the final structural model of the TIAQ comprised four constructs, namely, “Skills,” “Benefits,” “Acceptance,” and “Support.” The final model was fully supported by the derivation sample of music education teachers (n = 54) and produced a Comparative Fit Index (CFI = 1.00). The replication sample of physical education teachers (n = 56) partially supported the generality of the TIAQ, (CFI = .844). Further, the internal consistency properties of the TIAQ (Cronbach’s alpha was .77 for both samples) were satisfactory. We conclude that the psychometric properties of the TIAQ were adequate, and it can be used as a valid assessment in evaluating the status of inclusion for students with disabilities as perceived by music education and physical education teachers. However, future research is needed to support its generality with other groups of teachers and professionals.

Results of comprehensive surveys (1980 and 1988) were compared relative to physical education for handicapped students. A direct, self-report methodology was used. Statewide (Ohio) samples of 241 (1980) and 242 (1988) physical education teachers participated. Data indicated that the status of physical education for handicapped students had remained the same. By 1988, only 14% of the teachers had contributed to a multidisciplinary staff for developing IEPs. Teachers’ lack of knowledge of PL 94-142 was revealed in both years, and interest in teaching handicapped students was no better than “neutral/mixed” (1988). A majority of teachers in 1980 and 1988 indicated a general need for assistance in motor behavior assessments. By 1988 a majority of teachers (51%) had not received encouragement/support from their administration. In both years, over 75% believed that handicapped students are excluded from participation in physical education due to “nature of handicap” and “functional ability.” Overall, results in 1980 were reaffirmed in 1988. Teachers lacked the ability to provide appropriate physical education for handicapped students.

An experience of training physical education teachers at the universityABSTRACTEquitable and quality education for all citizens is one of the most important ways to overcome the inequalities that are still strongly felt in societies. The quality of teachers is a central dimension of educational processes, which largely depends on the quality of initial training. This article presents a research developed with the objective of exploring the characteristics of the identities of teacher educators and the training climates that form teachers focused on social inclusion and humanization. Theoretically, the study is based on the concept of professional identity. Methodologically, the research follows a qualitative orientation that is structured through a group interview with teachers who teach a physical education teaching course at a Portuguese university and documentary analysis on higher education in Portugal on national level and on studied people institutional level. The institution was chosen due to the recognized quality of its course. To account for the identity of the trainers, the interview considered the professional path of the teacher educators and their perspective on initial training; the documents included legislation, study plans, menus for self and straight course evaluation documents. The analysis suggests that it is possible for the academy to train teachers for inclusion and humanization, namely under certain conditions: (i) existence of dual identities (of academic and professional record) and (ii) existence of true communities of practice for teacher educators, cooperating teachers and student trainees. Keywords: Teacher Training. In many sporting events that have been held both nationally and internationally, Indonesia is still ranked below. Observations that have been made on PJOK teachers and trainers have found that they have not been able to identify and develop sports talent optimally by applying science. Research that has been done proves that an athlete is not only born but is also created through an appropriate talent identification program. There are at least two instruments that can be used to identify children's talents, namely I do and I Like. This application I like is online and saves and processes the data of children that we input and then will provide an output in the form of a dominant sport that is suitable for children. While I do in the form of tests of the ability of children with predetermined instruments. This service activity aims to: a) have skills in identifying and developing talent, b) understand and be skilled in using I do and I like instruments as part of talent identification, c) able to implement the management of talent identification instruments in their respective places. The method used uses the principle that every innovation received by PJOK teachers and trainers through PIE (Preparation, Implementation and Evaluation). This means that the delivery of innovations to Partners is taken through the stages of explanation, discussion, practice and evaluation stages are carried out with assistance in the learning and training process
