The primary goal of this study was to determine the effect of copper in patients with Enterobius vermicularis infection, as well as its association with IgE and TRFC. The study was carried out with 583 suspected and thirty healthy respondents of the same age who visited the AL-Zahra maternity and pediatrics laboratory, AL-Hakeem hospital, in AL-Najaf province(Iraq) from July 2020 to June 2021. This study aimed to estimate the level of copper, IgE, and TRFC in patients suffering from enterobiasis. The concentration of three biomarkers (copper, IgE, and TRFC) in serum was determined using the ELISA technique as per the manufacturer's instructions while the concentration of copper was assessed by using the colourimetric method. Results of the study revealed that the concentrations of IgE and TRFC significantly increased (P≤0.05) in the blood sample of E. vermiculris infected patients, while the serum concentrations of copper decreased significantly (P≤0.05) compared to the control group. The results of the current study suggested that the E. vermicularis infection alters serum IgE and TRFC concentrations, which significantly impacts copper levels in the blood.

      The Aim of this study was to determine Immunogenetic expression of  Toll-like receptor gene clusters related to prostatitis, to give acknowledge about Role of TLR in prostatitis immunity in men from Basrah and Maysan provinces. A case–control study included 135 confirmed prostatitis patients And 50 persons as a control group. Data about age, marital status, working, infertility, family history and personal information like (Infection, Allergy, Steroid therapy, Residency, Smoking, Alcohol Drinking, Blood group, Body max index (BMI) and the clinical finding for all patients of Prostatitis were collected. This study shows the effect of PSA level in patients with prostatitis and control group, with P-value <0.0001 therefore the study shows a positive significant between elevated PSA levels and Prostatitis.

Objective. To determine the blood serum 2-microglobulin and 2-macroglobulin concentration in patients undergoing renal replacement therapy (programmed hemodialysis) for the diagnosis of uremic pancreatitis and / or destructive pancreatitis. Materials and methods. The study involved 52 patients admitted to the Surgical Unit of Astrakhan "RZhD-Medicine" Hospital and City Clinical Hospital № 3. The blood serum 2-microglobulin and 2-macroglobulin concentration was analyzed in patients admitted on an emergency basis with suspicion of uremic pancreatitis and destructive pancreatitis, who receive renal replacement therapy (programmed hemodialysis). The control group included 50 outpatients undergoing renal replacement therapy (programmed hemodialysis). The study did not include patients with suspected pancreatitis who were not receiving renal replacement therapy. The period of the study is 20192021. Results. The concentration of blood serum 2-microglobulin is statistically higher than normal in all patients, who had received renal replacement therapy (programmed hemodialysis) in anamnesis. The most statistically high concentration of 2-microglobulin was revealed while studying patients with uremic pancreatitis (n = 34), and was (30.0 2.75 mg/l) compared with the blood serum concentration in patients with destructive pancreatitis (8 0.51 mg / l). The concentration of 2-macroglobulin was statistically lower in destructive pancreatitis (n = 18) and was 615 161 mg/l compared with uremic pancreatitis (980 216 mg/l). In the control group of outpatients (n = 50) receiving renal replacement therapy (programmed hemodialysis), no statistically significant blood serum concentrations of 2-microglobulin and 2-macroglobulin were found. Conclusions. A clear dependence of the concentration of 2-microglobulin and 2-macroglobulin on the severity of uremic pancreatitis and destructive pancreatitis was established. Statistically high values of 2-microglobulin concentrations were obtained in patients with uremic pancreatitis, and the 2-macroglobulin level was statistically low in destructive pancreatitis.

Abstract Endometriosis is a gynaecological disorder characterized by increased number and activation of peritoneal macrophages and release of macrophage-derived cytokines and growth factors. The aim of our work was t(5 study the level of neopterin and interleukin (TL)-10 in peritoneal fluid and serum of women with endometriosis in relation to stage of disease. Concentrations of neopterin and IL-10 were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in PF and serum of 58 women; 43 with endometriosis and 15 without endometriosis. In our study present of neopterin in PF of women with endometriosis whereas neopterin could not be detected in the control group. Neopterin serum concentrations were significantly higher in affected women compared with control. Significantly increased neopterin concentrations were observed in peritoneal fluid and serum of women with advanced endometriosis. The mean peritoneal fluid and serum IL-10 concentrations were significantly higher ainong studied women than control. In women with early endometriosis, significantly increased concentration of IL-10 in peritoneal fluid and serum was observed. In conclusions, both increased concentrations of neopterin and IL-10 in the peritoneal fluid and serum suggest an important role of these Compounds in pathogenesis of endometriosis and indicate an enhanced macrophage activity in this disease.

Introduction: Burns are common medical infections that examined in hospitals. Cytokines are produced by innate immune response; cytokines determine the type of adaptive immune response. This study aims to screen and evaluate the role of IL-2 and IL-6 levels in the serum of patients who have suffered from burns by ELISA technique. Methods: Seventy serum samples were collected from burned patients in Baghdad city hospitals and tested by ELISA technique to detect IL-2 and IL-6 levels. Results: Shows great differences in IL-2 level of male patients (30.16 pg/ml) compared to males control group by an average of (29.66 pg/ml). While IL-6 shows significant differences in female patients with range (63.39 pg/ml) and male (66.47 pg/ml) compared to females control group (2.48 pg/ml) and males (22.80 pg/ml). Moreover cytokines shows significant differences between the three age groups of burned patients in comparison with the control group. In conclusion the result of present study showed significant difference in level of some cytokines IL-2,IL-6 for patients with burns. Conclusion: the result of present study showed significant difference in level of some cytokines IL-2, IL-6 for patients with burns.

The primary goal of this study was to determine the function of eosinophil cationic protein in iron status in patients infected with Enterobius vermicularis. For this, a total of 583 suspected patients and thirty healthy people of the same age who have visited the AL-Zahra maternity and pediatrics laboratory, AL-Hakeem hospital, AL-Sajad hospital AL-Fruit al-Awsat hospital, and AL-Munadira hospital in AL-Najaf province from July 2020 to June 2021 were screened. The presence of E. vermicularis eggs was estimated by using the saline wet mount technique from faeces samples of all respondents. Blood samples were collected from the 60 positive and 30 healthy control group and centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 5 minutes to separate serum, which was then collected in sterile tubes. Each serum sample was divided into three parts and stored in the deep freezer at -20°C until the serological test was performed. The level of ECP, iron and ferritin in enterobiasis patients was estimated from the isolated blood serum. According to the Manufacturer Company instructions, the concentration of two biomarkers (ECP, Ferritin) in serum samples was determined using the ELISA technique (Human reader, Germany). While the concentration of iron was evaluated using a colourimetric method. In comparison to the control group, the concentration of ECP was reported significantly higher (P<0.05) in the E. vermiculris infected patients while the concentration of serum iron and ferritin was significantly decreased. The results of the current study can be concluded that E. vermicularis infection changes the serum ECP, iron, and ferritin concentration.

Analysis of liver biopsy specimens showed that SARS-CoV-2 might have led to liver damage. This study aimed to evaluate the role of selected hepatokines and myokines in the development and progression of COVID-19. Seventy patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 and 20 healthy volunteers were enrolled in the study. Irisin, pentraxin 3, fetuin-A, and FGF-21 serum concentrations and biochemical parameters were assessed using an immunoenzymatic method with commercially available enzyme immunoassay (EIA) or enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. Serum fetuin-A concentrations were significantly decreased in COVID-19 patients compared to healthy volunteers. The serum concentration of FGF-21 was significantly increased in obese COVID-19 patients compared to overweight ones. Moreover, the FGF-21 level was higher in COVID-19 patients diagnosed with metabolic syndrome than in patients without metabolic syndrome. PTX3 concentration was higher in COVID-19 patients with higher HOMA-IR values than those with lower HOMA-IR values. COVID-19 patients with HOMA-IR ≤3 and >3 had significantly lower fetuin-A levels than the control group. Irisin concentration was significantly decreased in the HOMA-IR ≤ 3 COVID-19 subgroup when comparing with the control group. Lower levels of fetuin-A observed in COVID-19 patients despite higher HOMA-IR, CRP, and ferritin levels, pneumonia, patients requiring ICU care suggests that fetuin-A deficiency predisposes to more severe COVID-19 course. Upregulated pentraxin 3 may be used as a potential predictor of COVID-19 severity.

The goal of this study was to detect the risk of developing different atopic dermatitis (AD) phenotypes in children (isolated or combined with other comorbid atopic diseases (AtD)) depending on serum concentrations of cutaneous T-cell attracting chemokine (CTACK)/CCL27. The main group comprised 39 children aged 3 to 18 years old suffering from different AD phenotypes – isolated (18 patients) and combined with comorbid AtD – AR/ARC and/or bronchial asthma (21 patients). The control group comprised 47 children aged 3 to 18 years old, suffering from diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). Serum CTACK/CCL 27 concentrations were detected in all children. In the full main group, the average level of CTACK/CCL27 was significantly higher compared to the patients of the control group: 4403.6 pg/ml (95% CI: 3726.2; 5148.7, p<0.001) and 3495.9 pg/ml (95% CI: 3197.8; 4186.8, p<0.001), respectively. Mean serum CTACK/CCL27 levels in patients of the main group with different AD phenotypes were higher than those in the full main group: with isolated AD – 4549.4 pg/ml (LQ; HQ: 3923.5; 5175.2, p<0.05), with AD associated with other AtD – 5116.6 pg/ml (LQ, HQ: 4062.8; 6170.5, p<0.05). In phenotypes of overall and isolated AD, the cut-off value of serum CTACK/ CCL27 is 3586.5 pg/ml (76.9% and 77.8%, respectively, and 38.3% in the control group). The risk of development at this concentration is 5.37 (95% CI: 2.05; 14.07, p<0.001) for the total AD phenotype and 5.64 (95% 1.56; 20.32, p<0.05) for the isolated AD phenotype. In AD phenotype combined with comorbid AtD, the cut-off value of serum CTACK/CCL27 is 4308.8 pg/ml (66.7% of the main and 21.3% in the control group). The risk of developing this AD phenotype at this concentration is 7.40 (95% CI: 2.30; 23.76, p<0.001). Serum CTACK/CCL27 levels are the reliable biomarker of the risk for developing different AD phenotypes in children. In the serum level of CTACK/CCL27=3658.5 pg/ml, the significant risk of developing total AD phenotype is 5.37, and isolated – AD=5.64. In the serum concentration of CTACK/CCL27=4308.8 pg/ml, the significant risk of developing AD phenotype combined with comorbid AtD is 7.40.

Background: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an auto inflammatory genetic disease resulted from the mutation of pyrin, which contributes to the formation of inflamma some complex. Therefore, activation of cytokines is one of the hallmarks of FMF pathogenesis. This study aimed to investigate the role of miRNAs as regulatory biomarkers for inflammation in patients with FMF. Methods: 50 FMF patients and 25 healthy subjects were included in this study. Q RT-PCR was used to determine plasma expressions of miR-181a and miR-125a, while IFN-γ and IL-17 were estimated using ELISA technique. Results: Our results indicated that, the expression of miR-181a was significantly decreased (p = 0.006) while miR-125a expression was insignificantly reduced (p = 0.101) also IL-17 levels were significantly higher(p = 0.003) and plasma IFN-γ levels were insignificantly increased (p = 0.322) in FMF patients than control group. Correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation between miR-181a expression and lymphocyte percentages (p = 0.048),while a significant negative association was observed between miR-125a and C-reactive protein (CRP) (p = 0.005) in FMF patients. However, there were no associations between miR-125a and miR-181a with IFN-γ and IL-17 in FMF patients. Conclusion: miR-181a and miR-125a could be used as regulatory biomarkers for inflammation in FMF patients.

The aim of this study was to detect the concentration of IgE antibody in children infected with Enterobius vermicularis and healthy children as a control group by using Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. The results indicated that there was an increase in the concentration of IgE antibody levels in people with E. vermicularis parasite with an average of (227.08 IU) compared to the control group, and the study of elevation ratios for age, where the results showed that the lowest increase in IgE antibody was recorded in the age group 1-3 years. The highest increase was recorded in the age group between 7-9 years with an average of (306.84 IU). The results of the statistical analysis showed very significant differences indicating a higher level of IgE among people with E. vermicularis parasite compared to the control group at a probability level of 0.05. The results of the statistical analysis through the use of the F-test showed no significant differences between the high antibody IgE in children with E. vermicularis parasite depending on age groups.
