Este artigo analisa a modalidade de educação a distância em instituições de ensino superior de cursos de Tecnologia da Informação na região do Distrito Federal do Brasil. Para consecução deste objetivo, percorrem-se os três passos mencionados a seguir. Inicialmente, discute-se brevemente a legislação de ensino a distância no Brasil; em seguida, realiza-se uma compilação de trabalhos recentes da literatura que tratam do assunto; por fim, faz-se uma pesquisa de campo com discentes de cursos superiores de Ciência da Computação e Sistema de Informações na região do Distrito Federal. As principais contribuições advindas da realização deste trabalho são permitir identificar os problemas enfrentados na realização de cursos ou disciplinas nessa modalidade e, sobretudo, propor soluções de melhorias do processo como um todo. Palavras-chave: Educação a distância; Ensino superior; Aprendizagem. Performance Analysis in Distance-Learning Higher-Education Programs of Information Technology in Federal DistrictAbstractThis article analyzes the modality of distance learning in higher education institutions of Information Technology programs in the region of the Federal District of Brazil. To achieve this goal, the following three steps are covered. Initially, it is briefly discussed the legislation of distance learning in Brazil; a compilation of recent literature works related to this subject matter is then carried out; at last, a field research is taken with students of programs in Computer Science and Information Systems in the region of the Federal District. El artículo aborda la necesidad de la creatividad que se impone en la era actual del conocimiento y la importancia que  constituyen las tecnologías como herramientas indispensables en todas las esferas de la vida. En Trabajo toma como campo investigativo los cambios que se llevan a cabo en esta esfera en la Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí y la Universidad Técnica de Babahoyo, Ecuador, donde se toman como objeto el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje en la Educación Superior. El objetivo de la investigación fue comunicar el impacto de las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones en las Universidades, donde se hace énfasis en el nuevo rol de los docentes y su nuevo desempeño de facilitadores del aprendizaje en los educandos a través en los nuevos escenarios mediados por las tecnologías. Para el desarrollo exitoso de esta memoria investigativa se   usó como metodología instrumentos que se basaron fundamentalmente en documentos referativos que ayudaron a justificar el problema de investigación, el cual consistía fundamentalmente en el impacto de las nuevos  dispositivos tecnológicos y su utilidad en los centros de altos estudios del país. Se concluyó que las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación son herramientas indispensables en la docencia y al mismo tiempo la forma de intervenir en el diseño educativo que nos llevan a explorar nuevos métodos docentes en los escenarios educativos mediados por estas. Se constató además que estas herramientas favorecen satisfactoriamente al proceso si se tiene una buena preparación por parte del docente.   Palabras clave: Herramientas tecnológicas, universidades, formación, docencia universitaria, proceso de enseñanza – aprendizaje Impact of information technology and communications: a look at higher education  Abstract The article states the need of the creativity that prevails in the current era of knowledge and the importance that technologies constitute in all spheres of life. In field research work it takes as changes take place in this area in Southern State University of Manabí and the Technical University of Babahoyo, Ecuador, where they are taken as an object the process of learning in higher education. The aim of the research was to communicate the impact of Information Technology and Communications in the universities, where the emphasis is on the new role of teachers and their new performance of facilitators of learning in students through the new scenarios mediated by technologies. For the successful development of this research report it was used as a methodology instruments based mainly on referative documents that helped to justify the research problem, which consisted mainly of the impact of new technological devices and their use in the centers of higher learning in the country. It was concluded that information technology and communication are indispensable tools in teaching and at the same time how to intervene in the educational design that lead us to explore new teaching methods in educational settings mediated by these. It was further found that these tools successfully promote the process if there is a good preparation by the teacher.

Aim/Purpose: This paper investigates the gaps between industry and academia perceptions of information technology fields, such as computer science, software engineering, and computer engineering, and it identifies areas of asymmetry between curricula and industry expectations. The study mainly focuses on the skills required of IT professionals (graduated students) and on how higher education institutes equip students for industry. Background: Higher education institutes have several IT-related departments. However, it is not clear whether these departments have sufficient content to equip students with industry-related skills. Rapid advances mean that some curriculum topics are redundant before the end of a standard two- or four-year degree programs. Balancing the technical/non-technical skills and adjusting the curricula to better prepare the students for industry is a constant demand for higher education institutions. Several studies have demonstrated that a generic curriculum is inadequate to address current IT industry needs. Methodology: The study involved a comprehensive survey of IT professionals and companies using a Web-based questionnaire sent directly to individual companies, academics, and employers. 64 universities and 38 companies in 24 countries were represented by the 209 participants, of whom 99 were IT professionals, 72 academics, and 38 employers. Contribution: This paper is intended to guide academics in preparing dynamic curricula that can be easily adapted to current industry trends and technological developments, with content directly relevant to student’s careers. In addition, the results may identify the skills that students need to secure employment and the courses that will provide skills in line with current industry trends. Findings: The results indicate a lack of emphasis on personal and non-technical skills in undergraduate education compared to general computer science, software development, and coding courses. Employers’ and software experts’ responses emphasize that soft skills should not be ignored, and that, of these, analytical thinking and teamwork are the two most requested. Rather than a theoretical emphasis, courses should include hands-on projects. Rapid developments and innovations in information technologies demand that spiral and waterfall models are replaced with emerging software development models, such as Agile and Scrum development. Recommendations for Practitioners: A multidisciplinary approach should be taken to the teaching of soft skills, such as communication, ethics, leadership, and customer relations. Establishing multiple learning tracks in IT education would equip students with specialized knowledge and skills in IT. An effective communication channel should be established between students and industry. It is also important to reduce the distance between academics and students and to provide an interactive environment for technical discussions. Enterprise level computing and Framework use provide job market advantages. Recommendation for Researchers: Researchers and department heads, particularly those involved in curriculum design and accreditation, could use the results of this exemplary study to identify key topics for attention. Impact on Society: Changes of various degrees are required in the current curricula in many higher education institutions to better meet student needs. Societies and technology are dynamic in nature, and information technology-related curricula in higher education institutions should be equally dynamic. Future Research: Since technology (especially information technology) transforms and advances itself so rapidly, this study should be replicated t to investigate how these changes affect the gap between revised curricula and current industry expectations.

It is highlighted in the study that digital transformations of the fourth industrial revolution are changing the modern human world, encouraging a person to acquire new competencies and become a qualified specialist in the digital economy. In connection with the progressive scientific and technical development, the institute of higher education is being transformed; new previously unknown approaches to the organization of higher education appear. One of such approaches is the introduction of online learning in higher education. The authors refer to the experience of 2020, when, during the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, the whole world began to actively transfer work processes to a remote format, which also affected the institute of education. Universities around the world introduced distance learning using information technology, which helped students and faculty communicate at a distance. Based on the analysis, the following conclusions were drawn: digitalization of higher education in Russian universities is currently associated with the use of information and communication technologies in the educational environment and to a lesser extent with the use of electronic educational environment in the indirect interaction of students and teaching staff. In our opinion, it is necessary for the digitalization process to be consistent and not to be reduced to full distance learning, but to competently integrate information technology into the traditional learning process.

Distance and online education are popular training modes in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and open education. Accreditation is one of the approaches that many countries across the world have implemented to assure the quality of higher education, including distance learning programs. This study investigates the rationale and future directions for quality assurance and accreditation of distance education programs in Vietnam. First, the paper presents concepts of distance education, and quality assurance and accreditation of distance education. Second, the research reviews experiences of implementing quality assurance and accreditation for distance education from several countries in the world. Next, the paper analyses the rationale for conducting accreditation of distance education programs in our country. Finally, the study proposes three groups of recommendations for the national quality assurance organization, accreditation agencies and higher education institutions to be able to implement the quality assurance and accreditation of distance education in Vietnam successfully. The article presents a comparative analysis of the educational and professional program "Informatics" of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education in the field of knowledge 12 "Information Technology", specialty 122 "Computer Science", which is implemented at the Faculty of Computer Science and Cybernetics Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with educational and professional programs of the same level and specialties of other institutions of higher education in Ukraine. During the analysis, they were compared with the approved standard of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education in the specialty 122 "Computer Science". In order to conduct a comparative analysis, the authors developed and completed a educational program database. The result of the study is checking the educational program for completeness, that is lack of competencies that are not provided by any discipline and sufficiency, that is the lack of disciplines that do not provide any competence. The ratio of competencies and disciplines in different programs in a common specialty is analyzed.

Today, learning how to program or coding is an important issue even for children. So, pre-service Information Technology (IT) teachers are expected to have gained necessary skills for teaching programming. Considering that learning programming is not an easy process, we need icebreakers in order to change pre-service teachers’ perceptions of programming positively. This study focused on an implementation of a training of rapid application development (RAD). The aim of the study was to come up with an answer to the question; “can RAD be used as an icebreaker in order to change Turkish pre-service IT teachers’ perceptions towards programming positively?” The findings revealed that RAD tools can be used as icebreakers in the context of the study. In this respect, it is recommended that these tools be included in the higher education programs providing informatics education.

Advances in information technology stimulate development of applications to enhance Internet-based higher education. Reviewing a virtual classroom model, we studied the possibilities and problems of introducing model-based distance learning in everyday higher education. We survey important issues and methodological elements of virtual classrooms in relation to demands of teaching procedures, programs, and materials. Our main objective is to determine specific circumstances enabling objects to be defined for this special modeling. We begin by introducing application of features in models for virtual teaching, then discuss issues in local and global education, focusing on the advantages of virtual education. We detail application-related features of the cited course model and discuss the implementation of virtual classrooms in higher education.

<p><em>The main problem in this study, along with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has plagued Indonesia for more than a year, has caused various problems and has an impact on various aspects of life, especially in education. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, the government enforces distance learning (PJJ), which also impacts learning Arabic and requires teachers to develop creativity in learning. Using a qualitative field research method, this study aims to determine the creativity of Arabic language teachers in utilizing information technology for distance learning (PJJ) during the covid-19 pandemic. As for some of the media used, such as. Create video content, take advantage of social media, use video conferencing applications such as Zoom and Google Meet to take advantage of educational website services in the form of Google Classroom and Wordwall games. Based on the results of the analysis conducted by the researchers, this study proved that, first, there are various kinds of teacher creativity in learning Arabic online such as interactive multimedia, quizzes with google forms, word wall games, and so on. Second, being able to eliminate student learning boredom by developing teacher creativity based on information technology. Third, it is still necessary to conduct information technology-based creativity development training, especially in learning Arabic, because not all Arabic language teachers can develop information technology-based teaching skills. This study proved that, first, there are various kinds of teacher creativity in learning Arabic online such as interactive multimedia, quizzes with google forms, word wall games, and so on.
