The purpose of the article is to improve procedures of computerized monitoring and control of technological processes of growing greenhouse crops by substantiating methods of improving the accuracy of computer-integrated devices for measuring irrigation solution acidity. The article solves the topical scientific and applied problem of determining the conversion characteristics of computerized acidity monitoring systems with integral and differential assessment of their metrological parameters. Theoretical and experimental studies were obtained based on structural-algorithmic synthesis methods for information-measuring systems; methods of mathematical planning of experiments; regression analysis of experimental data and the concept of uncertainty. The computerized acidity meter was implemented on the basis of an ion-selective pH electrode, Arduino microprocessor platform, and ThingSpeak cloud computing service. The relative total boundary uncertainty of acidity measurement is not more than ±1.1 %. Methods of compensating of the random component of uncertainty based on the median filtering algorithm and additional uncertainty from the destabilizing effect of temperature were introduced when implementing the measuring device. Promising areas of priority research to improve the efficiency of the developed computerized acidity meter were justified. The developed device can be used in the complex automation of greenhouse cultivation processes. The developed and implemented measuring tool can be used when planning agricultural operations in greenhouse conditions.

Analysis and formalization of the monitoring and automatic control tasks of the MR for the movement and execution of various types of technological operations on inclined and vertical ferromagnetic surfaces are obtained. Generalized structure of mobile robotic complex is shown with main subsystems consideration. Critical analysis of the current state of the problem of development of universal structures of mobile robots (MRs) for the various types of technological operations execution and elaborations of computerized systems for monitoring and control of MR movement is done. In particular, wheeled, walked and crawler type MRs with pneumatic, vacuum-propeller, magnetic and magnetically operated clamping devices to grip with vertical and ceiling surfaces are reviewed. The constructive features of the crawler MR with magnetic clamping devices capable of moving along sloping ferromagnetic surfaces are considered. The basic technical parameters of the MR are shown for the further synthesis of computerized monitoring and automatic control systems. Formalization of the tasks of monitoring and control of the MR positioning at the processing of large area ferromagnetic surfaces is considered from the point of view of control theory.

The article renders the special features of the design of a tracked mobile robot (MR) for moving over inclined ferromagnetic surfaces while performing specified technological operations. There is conducted a synthesis of the functional structure and selective technological parameters (such as control coordinates) of the computerized monitoring and control system (CMCS) intended for use with this MR. Application of the CMCS with the proposed functional structure allows substantially increasing the accuracy of the MR monitoring and control, which in turn provides for a considerable enhancement in the quality and economic efficiency of the operations on processing of large ferromagnetic surfaces.

Nowadays manufacturing industry faces increasing demands to customize products according to personal needs. This trend leads to a proliferation of complex product designs. To cope with this complexity, manufacturing systems are equipped with advanced sensing capabilities. However, traditional statistical process control methods are not concerned with the stream of in-process imaging data. Also, very little has been done to investigate nonlinearity, irregularity, and inhomogeneity in image stream collected from manufacturing processes. This paper presents the multifractal spectrum and lacunarity measures to characterize irregular and inhomogeneous patterns of image profiles, as well as detect the hidden dynamics of the underlying manufacturing process. Experimental studies show that the proposed method not only effectively characterizes the surface finishes for quality control of ultra-precision machining but also provides an effective model to link process parameters with fractal characteristics of in-process images acquired from additive manufacturing. This, in turn, will allow a swift response to processes changes and consequently reduce the number of defective products. The proposed fractal method has strong potentials to be applied for process monitoring and control in a variety of domains such as ultra-precision machining, additive manufacturing, and biomanufacturing.

The article also presents the results of experimental studies of the effect of oxidation with atmospheric oxygen, an increase in the process temperature on the plasticity of bitumen. The efficiency of bitumen oxidation depends on the size of the contact surface between the liquid and gas phases. Acceleration of the oxidation process is achieved 6-7 times with good mixing of the reacting phases. The article is devoted to the analysis and study of various methods of obtaining petroleum bitumen and improving the adhesion properties in various mineral materials. Using the example of the Astrakhan gas processing plant, the effectiveness of the addition of additives - nitrogen-, sulfur-containing substances, elemental sulfur, etc. - to improve the adhesion properties of bitumen to mineral materials is shown. The analysis of the effect of temperature differences in summer and winter on the binding properties of bitumen is carried out. A method for preliminary stripping of volatile components from oils is considered, which leads to a decrease in the content of paraffin-naphthenic hydrocarbons and an improvement in the quality of the obtained bitumen.

Most modern technical tasks require high precision measurements. To do this, it is necessary to analyze the causes of errors and take measures to reduce their influence on the accuracy of measurements. The causes of errors are very diverse and cannot always be identified. However, some systematic components of the measurement error can be described and calculated mathematically. In this case, the task of reducing the signal at the output of a measuring device to the form it would have when using an “ideal” device is reduced to calculating a certain linear operator which product to the measured signal allows obtaining the minimum systematic error. In this paper, the application of the reduction method is given by the example of a measuring instrument for the degree of polarization of light radiation which comprises three measuring channels for measuring the intensity of linearly polarized radiation. Each channel is built with the use of three operational amplifiers. The main errors of a measuring channel that can be described and determined are the errors of the operational amplifiers associated with the bias voltages and temperature drift. In real measuring systems there are much larger of such components. However, the use of computer equipment for modeling systems and processes, as well as measurements, removes all restrictions on the possibilities of processing the obtained data in a software way. With the help of computer technology it is possible to reduce the influence of perturbing effects and systematic errors, and also to eliminate gross errors. The random component of an error can be reduced by increasing the number of measurements and carrying out statistical data processing.

The metropolitan city of Seoul uses more energy than any other area in South Korea due to its high population density. It also has high emissions of air pollutants. Since an individual usually spends most of his/her working hours indoors, the ambient air quality refers to indoor air quality. In particular, PM10concentration in the underground areas should be monitored to preserve the health of commuters in the subway system. Seoul Metro and Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation measure several air pollutants regularly. In this study, the accuracy of an instrument for PM measurement using the light scattering method was improved with the help of a linear regression analysis technique to continuously measure thePM10concentrations in subway stations. In addition, an air quality monitoring system based on environmental sensors was implemented to display and record the data of PM10, CO2, temperature, and humidity. Through experimental studies, we found that ventilation fans could improve air quality and decrease PM10concentrations in the tunnels effectively by increasing the air flow rate.
