The research aimed to empower the Muslim housewife’s understanding and skill in Tulungagung in waste management through Science and Technology e-media. The subjects of the empowerment are the housewives in Tanggung, Tanjungsari, and Jabon villages. The methods of the empowerment are formal and non-formal approaches, training, and implementation. The analysis was carried out using gain score normalized to analyze the value of understanding and skill in waste management before and after the empowerment. The results indicated that e-media can improve the housewife’s understanding (0,5) and it can improve the housewife’s skill (0,68). This showed that e-media can be as one of educational media in waste management.

Discussion in the process of teaching refers to a more sophisticated form of conversation, which is more frequently applied working with senior school learners. Problems rather than facts or phenomena are discussed. The question rises if the method of discussion is relevant in lessons of surrounding world learn-ing and whether it enables school learners to acquire knowledge, facilitates its memorisation or allows to ar-rive at solutions to urgent problems. The research involved 18 second formers, 15 school learners of fourth form and 13 students. All the groups of respondents discussed the same problem. Different roles were assigned to the participants in the discussion (a number of respondents represented heads of waste management company, whereas the rest assumed roles of residents of area where waste dump was being set up) and they involved in discussions of issues related to waste management and waste dump establishment. A considerable difference in the results of questionnaires provided to the participants before and after the discussion was observed. It is obvious that the respondents not only gained knowledge but also acquired a different perception and understanding of the problems analysed in the discussion. However, the compari-son of all the results of the survey revealed a stronger educational role of the discussion teaching fourth for-mers. This confirms theoretical statements that this method is more effective with senior school learners. The group of students also found the discussion useful. BACKGROUND: Each pregnancy and childbirth has complication risks. These complications are accompanying pathological incidences that might cause maternal mortality. AIM: This research aims to determine the effect of educational media development in increasing knowledge and attitudes about complications of pregnancy and childbirth in pregnant women. METHODS: This research method passed through several stages as follows: First stage consisted of the development of educational media (leaflets), and second stage consisted of development test with leaflet media using a quasi-experimental research design. The samples were Trimester I to Trimester III pregnant women who visited Sayang Rakyat Hospital Makassar, which consisted of 30 people as intervention group and 30 people as control group. The intervention group was provided leaflets while the control group was provided books on maternal and child health. Data analysis used Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Mann–Whitney test. RESULTS: The results showed that there are differences in case of knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding complications of pregnancy and childbirth before and after being provided with leaflet intervention with a value of p = 0.000. Likewise, there are differences in the case of knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding pregnancy and childbirth complications between the intervention and control groups with p = 0.041 and 0.001, respectively. CONCLUSION: Educational media on knowledge and attitudes about complications of pregnancy and childbirth has a positive effect in pregnant women at Sayang Rakyat Hospital in Makassar.

In this study, the development of professionalism of undergraduate students of civil engineering is essential to face the challenges in the modern world and this study describes professional internship program for each semester in the civil engineering department at SRM Institute of Science and Technology. Based upon literature reviews of the professional internship program for each semester questionnaires are prepared and given to faculties, undergraduates of SRM Institute of Science and Technology and also get from the construction contractors, to predict issues in the traditional professional internship program. For undergraduates questionnaires consider weighted percentage of before and after professional internship program are Wb and Wa. The expert groups were utilized to planning, implementation, evaluation, and execution of the professional internship program at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology. An implementation of the professional internship program for each semester of undergraduate students of the civil engineering department at SRM Institute of Science and Technology. The outcomes obtained for civil engineering undergraduates are getting from valuable resources, that professional internship program for each semester is needed undergraduates to develop the carrier and gain knowledge and should create best civil engineers.

The aim of the present study was to create a source separation and waste reduction culture in Ardabil city in a randomized systematic way. The present semi-experimental study was conducted in two regions of Ardabil city. The number of sample in each region was 100 (50 as control, 50 as case population). In order to determine the effect of the profile of households in regions 1 and 2 and the effect of training on the amount of produced waste and the increase of awareness on source waste separation, two-step sampling, before and after training, was conducted in both groups. Beside a questionnaire also was completed before and after training. The results showed the statistically significant relationship between the income and reduction of produced waste in region 1 and 2. In the case group, level of awareness in regions 1 and 2 was changed from low-medium (first step) to medium-high (second step). Also, amount of produced waste was reduced in second steps in the case group. This result indicates the effect of training as an intervention factor, on waste management. Therefore, the desirable education system should be selected according to the status of society and the cultural, social, and economic conditions of each region and it is advisable to use specialized staff with health and environmental views to train citizens in order to source waste separation and waste management.

This study aims to determine the achievement of physics learning using Teams GamesTournaments (TGT) model and find out an increase or gainscore between experimental classes using TeamGames Tournamens model with control class using whiteboard. Conducting research in SMAN 1Tugumulyo with sample 48 students, consisting of 25 students class XIA1 as experiment class and 23students X1 A2 as control class. The type of this research is quasi experimental design. The data collectiontechnique used is objective test. The statistical prestation test (t-test) used in this research is homogeneoustest and normality data test. The results showed that: 1) the experimental class experienced an increase inlearning achievement between before and after using TGT model, 2) the increase or gainscore in theexperimental class is 5,0 and the gain score of the control class is 4,24. So it can be concluded TGT modelcan affect student achievement.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan motivasi, hasil belajar kognitif, hasil belajar afektif peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan media komik. Penelitian dilakukan lewat quasi experiment dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah 57 peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 1 Banjarnegara. Media komik digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPA selama 6 kali tatap muka. Data motivasi dan hasil belajar afektif diperoleh lewat angket dan observasi, sedangkan hasil belajar kognitif lewat pretes dan postes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media komik di dalam pembelajaran IPA mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik dengan nilai gain skor sebesar 0,55 (sedang); hasil belajar ranah kognitif dengan gain skor sebesar 0,42 (sedang); dan meningkatkan hasil belajar ranah afektif dengan gain skor sebesar 0,34 (sedang). Hasil uji beda antara sebelum dan setelah perlakuan menunjukkan adanya perbedaan baik yang menyangkut motivasi belajar, hasil belajar ranah kognitif, maupun hasil belajar ranah afektif. Kata Kunci: media komik, pembelajaran IPA, motivasi, hasil belajar kognititf, hasil belajar afektifTHE USE OF COMIC MEDIA IN SCIENCE INSTRUCTION TO IMPROVE MOTIVATION AND COGNITIVE AND AFFECTIVE ACHIEVEMENT Abstract: This study was aimed to describe the improvement of students’ motivation, cognitive and affective learning achievement in science instruction using comic media. The study was carried out using the quasi experiment with the one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of 57 seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Banjarnegara.Comic media were used in science instruction for six times. The data on motivation and affective learning achievement were obtained through questionnaires and observation, while the cognitive learning achievement was obtained through the pretest and posttest. The findings of the study showed that the use of the comic media in the science instruction could improve the students’ motivation with a gain score of 0.55; improve the cognitive learning achievement with a gain score of 0.42; and improve the affective learning achievement with a gain score of 0.34. There was a significant difference in the students’ motivation, cognitive learning achievement, and affective learning achievement before and after the treatment. The paper presents the legal status of existing public enterprises in Slovenia before and after the adoption of Public-Private Partnership Act, that demanded the reorganization of existing public enterprises in the period 2007-2009. The paper also presents the analysis of local public utilities delivery mechanisms in Slovenia, focusing on the local public utilities providers in the field of water and waste management. The aim of the paper is to introduce the changes in the legal status of existing public enterprises, caused by new legislation and also to give an insight into the current state of local public utilities providers in the field of water and waste management. The results confirm the fact that public enterprise is the most common organizational form of local public utilities providers in the field of water and waste management and lead to conclusion that in the reorganization process the majority of existing public enterprises retained the status of a public enterprise.
