In this study, encouraging students to self-improvement is considered as a set of interconnected and interacting structural components aimed at stimulating self-development, development of mechanisms of reflection and self-realization. The functions of self-improvement and encouragement are defined. The mechanism and stages of student encouragement are analyzed. The elements of self-improvement are characterized in detail in the work. Forms (external and internal) and methods of stimulating students to self-improvement are identified, based on the experience of Ukraine and Great Britain during the development of this problem in science – the beginning of the XXI century. Incentive methods are described in terms of their effectiveness. The paper focuses on modern conditions of effective self-improvement of students and it has been found that in order to be competitive and successful in the professional sphere, a modern student should gain a process of self-improvement and a modern teacher– to encourage him/her with different methods. Prospects for further research are identified, which should be aimed at scientifically domestic and foreign experience towards the analysis and selection of effective techniques, methods and means of encouraging students to self-improvement, which the teacher will be able to use in practice. Their value orientations, interests and motives, beliefs, ideas about goals or intentions, as well as professional competence play an important role in the process of forming students' readiness for successful professional activity. It is a complex structured picture that includes both the self and relationships with other people, as well as positive and negative beliefs. It is largely due to the preparation of the student in the university. Such a statement of the problem requires not only effective methods for the formation of a successful specialist, but also the creative organization of the pedagogical process, the creation of appropriate conditions for the formation of students' focus on successful professional activity.

The methodological basis of the study is represented by the following approaches. The ideas of systematic approach were the basis for considering the phenomenon under study as an integral, orderly, complexly organized education and building the process of its improvement. A culturological approach enriched the cultural foundations of considering and understanding the essence of the corporate culture of the lecturer, the process of its improvement by relying on value constructs of interaction, the presentation of cultural forms of self-development. An activity-based approach has determined the targeted, procedural, and effective components of the activity and interaction of lecturers, the special organization of which is the most important condition for the development of the lecturer’s personality and his corporate culture. The provisions of acmeological approach presented the essence of the development of the corporate culture of the lecturer by taking into account the individual nature of development, as a movement towards maturity, through its contradictions resolved by the lecturer-subject. We note the principles of consistency, humanization, unity of objective and subjective, joint activity, cultural conformity of the development of corporate culture of a university lecturer.

“Liberty of the individual is a thing of the past, or the future, in Palestine”, wrote Bernard Joseph, a distinguished member of Israel's “government in the making” in 1948, shortly before Israel was inaugurated as a sovereign state. Joseph's “present” was the dusk of British rule in Palestine. Draconian Defence (Emergency) Regulations suspended conventional liberties ordinary westerners were accustomed to expect and turned Palestine into a police state.Precisely what “liberty of the individual” the esteemed jurist, who held degrees from both McGill University and the University of London, had in mind when he invoked the past of Palestine is not entirely clear. He could not have possibly meant liberty under the Ottoman regime which prevailed until 1918. Ottoman rule in Palestine was authoritarian, feudal and corrupt.
