Health condition is an important area of social life. Employees in good health work more efficiently and effectively than sick ones. It is widely accepted that health is one of the elements of human capital and a factor in determining the situation of the individual in the labour market. The main objective of the research is to analyse the health status of household members in the context of their professional activity. The working hypothesis assumes that people suffering from health problems are rather economically inactive than unemployed. In the paper an attempt is made to identify factors (related to eg. health) which affect the probability of being economically inactive. To achieve the objective of the paper individual data of household members from the European Survey on Income and Living Conditions (EU‑SILC) conducted by Central Statistical Office in Poland in 2013 was used. The results of the analysis indicate that in general, deterioration of health increases the risk of remaining economically inactive. In the analysis of the order of importance of factors affecting economic inactivity, the ones connected with health turned out to be of the greatest importance.

Abstract The age of household members is an important factor for expenditures. The aim of the study is to investigate the level of expenditure on restaurants and hotels incurred in Polish households of the elderly in 2004-2013 and to identify the factors affecting such expenditures. The source of information used in the study was the household budget survey of the Central Statistical Office of Poland. The main methods used in this study were variance analysis and regression analysis. Restaurants and hotels expenditure increases every year together with their share in total household expenditure. The most important factors affecting the restaurants and hotels spending in Polish households of the elderly are: income per capita and the level of education of the head of the family. The study on consumption determinants at different groups leads to better understanding of consumer behavior circumstances and thereby ensuring a good quality of life for the people of the elderly.

The aim of the paper was to identify factors affecting the profitability of apiculture production in Poland. In the work was used data from the Central Statistical Office, the Polish Beekeeping Association and literature on the subject. Eight direct interviews with beekeepers were also conducted. The calculations were made for four types of apiaries differing in the scale of production and the way of management. For the types of apiaries indicated, the calculated direct surplus for two methods of selling honey (purchase and direct sales). The highest results were obtained in the case of a migratory apiary. The value of direct surplus per bee colony amounted to PLN 1,160 for direct sales, and PLN 450 for purchase. In the case of stationary management, the amount of direct surplus was from 2 to a dozen times lower than in the case of a migratory apiary. Similar differences were also recorded when estimating the value of net agricultural income. The factors determining the profitability of beekeeping production in Poland include: the scale of production, the kind of economy in the apiary (stationary or migratory), honey distribution channels and the beekeeper’s reputation.

AbstractResearch background: A lot of research has been directed at describing empirical distributions by using a theoretical model. In the literature there are proposals for various types of mathematical functions. In 2010 Zenga proposed a new three-parameter model for economic size distribution which possesses interesting statistical properties which can be used to model income, wealth and financial variables.Purpose: The aim of this paper is to apply the Zenga model to income distributions in Poland by voivodeship.Research methodology: The basis for the calculations presented in the paper has been based on the individual data coming from a random sample obtained within a Household Budget Survey conducted by the central Statistical Office in the year 2014. The parameters estimates of the Zenga distribution were obtained by means of the D’Addario’s invariants methods, mainly with the Pietra index. Results: The results of the conducted approximations, presented in the paper confirmed the good consistency of the Zenga distribution with the empirical income distribution in Poland, both in total and for households.Novelty: The study contributed to the application of a new three-parameter income distribution model to describe income distributions in Poland.

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the health of the elderly, living in rural areas of Poland. The analysis based on a survey “The health status of the Polish population” carried out by the Central Statistical Office (GUS). In order to assess the differences in the health status of the villagers and townsfolk’s we have examined the share of older people living in rural and urban areas in the structure of the whole population. We have also identified the measures of the health status. We have calculated, using the Sullivan method, the value of Healthy Life Expectancy, Disability Free Life Expectancy,.Chronic Disease Life for the Polish rural and urban elderly population. The study has shown, the villagers live shorter in good health (without disability and chronic diseases). Presented study allows to formulate the desirable directions of changes to improve the health status of rural population. This should lead to more effective health care in rural areas.

Abstract Background Little information is available regarding subjective well-being according to diabetic status in patients surviving an acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Aims and methods A health status questionnaire was sent to all patients participating in the nationwide French FAST-MI cohorts (2005, 2010 and 2015) one year after the acute episode of AMI, with a specific question on overall health condition (how do you feel: very well, well, fair, poor) (n=6082), and additional questions on the presence of any chest pain (n=4590), presence nuisance bleedings (n=3968), and reporting of perceived medication side-effects (n=2220). Answers were analysed according to diabetic status. We also analysed in the 2005 and 2010 cohorts whether subjective health status at one year was a correlate of 5-year mortality. Results Compared with non-diabetic patients (n=4692), those with diabetes (n=1390) had a poorer perceived health status (poor/fair health status: 40% vs 30%, P<0.001), more presence of chest pain (31% vs 23%, P<0.001), but less nuisance bleedings (47% vs 56%, P<0.001) and similar reported medication side-effects (37% vs 41%, P=0.12). Using logistic regression analysis, diabetes was an independent correlate of poorer health status (any diabetes OR vs non-diabetic 1.29, 1.13–1.49, P<0.001; non-insulin-treated: 1.17, 1.00–1.36, P=0.05, insulin-treated: 1.58, 1.29–1.94, P<0.001). In diabetic patients, perceived health condition at one year was an independent correlate of 5-year death (Cox multivariate analysis): compared with patients reporting very good health, HR (95% CI) 2.16 (1.08–4.32) for good health, 3.06 (1.53–6.11) for fair health, and 3.63 (1.55–8.55) for poor health; in non-diabetic patients, 5-year survival was similar in those reporting good or very good health status, but lower in those reporting fair or poor health status (Figure). Figure 1. 5-year survival by health status Conclusion Compared with non-diabetic patients, patients with diabetes described a poorer general health and more residual chest pain after AMI, but had less nuisance bleedings. Health condition reported one year after AMI was an independent correlate of subsequent long-term mortality, particularly for diabetic patients. Students who starts university in a new and often different city suddenly find themselves in a different academic and social environment. This new life differs from their past experiences in terms of educational experiences, human relations and social life. This descriptive study investigates the adaptation levels of first year nursing students of two different public universities in Izmir, Turkey at the beginning of the academic year and aims to determine the factors affecting their adaptation. The research data were obtained from 125 students enrolled in the nursing department of these universities by using a questionnaire. The data collection tools consisted of socio-demographic form and the University Life Scale. Numbers and percentages, ANOVA, and independent sample t test were used in the analysis. 75.2% of the students included in the study were female, and their mean age was calculated as 9=18.9±1.10. 55.2% of the students voluntarily chose the nursing department. The rate of students who made a university selection for the first time was 97.6%. The students were found to have the highest mean score in the "adaptation to the university environment" subscale and the lowest score in the "academic adaptation" subscale. The mean scores of adaptation to the university environment, adaptation to relationships with the opposite sex, and total adaptation were found to be higher for the students who opted for the profession willingly than those who did not and this difference was found to be statistically significant (220.202±36.43, p<0.05). The findings indicate that willful selection of the profession, the level of education of the mother, profession of the father, parents' living together, economic status, and living with the family are the variables that affect the adaptation of the students to the university life. Preparing university adaptation programs by taking the individual, social and cultural characteristics affecting the adaptation into account and tailoring the guidance and consultancy services based on student needs may facilitate successful adaptation.

This study examines the elderly people’s health status differentials according to selected background variables on the basis of Ageing Survey 2014. The general objective of the study is to identify the health status of elderly people in socio-cultural perspective. This study examined the associations of different twelve socio-cultural factors with combination of health outcome (Good or Bad) in older age by applying the cross tables, Chi squire test and binary logistic regression analysis. These variables are selected on the basis of theoretical and empirical studies sighted in the literature reviews. This research is find out only three major socio-cultural factors that make variation determine in the health status of elderly people in Nepal. General literacy status does not impact the elderly health situation in Nepal so high level education need to elderly to improve health status of elderly. Highly appreciating and follow up elderly advices help to increase health status of elderly so it should be utilized in most societies of Nepal. Only Kirat religion elderly are found to be in good health condition than Hindu religion. So other religions of Nepal have not significant impact on health status of elderly compare to Hindu religion.

The article deals with the main ideas and principles of the problem under investigation; outlines the main professional abilities and competencies and implementing the methodological support into the educational process, which contributes to the effective formation of moral culture among future teachers of technology. According to leading scientists, the orientation of the higher school to the modern and even advanced level of development the socio-industrial relations in the specialists' training is possible only subject to the study of these requirements, because of the study of this specialist. The search for improvement of the professional training of the future teacher is a problem, the urgency of which is conditioned by the tendency of the requirements for the professional activity of the teacher. The modern education of Ukraine is aimed at providing the students with the necessary knowledge, development of skills and abilities. During the training period, the future teacher should submit a lot of factual material. It is necessary to highlight the economic knowledge of most graduates of schools that have a theorized character, detached from reality, and, as a result, young people cannot resist the negative effects of a market economy. This is evidenced by the realities of the present; a part of the youth cannot be competitive in the labor market, due to lack of practical skills, moral and ethical education, the level of culture of communication and business etiquette of labor activity. In order to solve these tasks, an active implementation into the educational process of educational institutions, in particular pedagogical, disciplines of economic direction, is carried out. The researches show that a modern school needs teachers of technologies with a broad world outlook that possess not only a system of integrated knowledge of technological, psychological and pedagogical, methodical character, but also deep economic thinking. The establishments of higher education creating the cultural potential of the individual, designed to determine the way of its self-realization, the subjective content of its productive activities. Dependence of the level of formation and characteristics of the culture of the individual can vary in specific types and spheres of social life.
