The emergence of COVID-19, a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, was first reported in December 2019. It then spread in pandemic proportions, creating a human health emergency that was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. The airborne transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, mainly through droplets of saliva, has been highly effective, depending on the viral variant. The present study provides clinical-epidemiological information on the general population without discriminating by socioeconomic and occupational factors. A total of 8507 positive cases, with 408384 official metadata, were analyzed. These cases correspond to the exponential phase of the first epidemic wave (March-June 2020) in Mexico. The cohort consisted of children and young people up to 20 years of age. The putative risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 infection due to chronic diseases were also analyzed. In this cohort, the frequency of SARS-CoV-2 infection was 3%, with a 9% rate of active infections and a mortality rate of 1%. The greatest association was between COVID-19 and metabolic diseases, with 31%. This is the first study that analyzed the health conditions associated with COVID-19 infection in children and young people in Mexico during the first SARS-CoV-2 epidemic wave, in the absence of acquired or induced immunity factors. The results, although preliminary, may contribute to the management of COVID-19 patients during the prevention and hospitalization stages. Given the sustained expansion of the epidemic and the greater availability of data, it would be useful to make an integrative analysis of the rural population, which has remained active in the labor market given that agriculture is considered an essential activity.

AbstractThe World Health Organization categorised the Corona virus as a public health emergency of international concern. As a result of this declaration, a raft of procedures to stem the spread of the virus to safeguard the health and safety of its citizens was enacted by the Australian Government. The promotion of social isolation and distancing were among these measures. The governmental social distancing measures put in place in Australia resulted in a curtailing of face-to-face work and moving to online service delivery for many agencies who provide counselling for children/young people who have experienced maltreatment. This article presents the findings of a review of the literature on the pertinent ethical issues in relation to online counselling. The results of the review highlighted common ethical issues discussed across the literature, with a major gap in the literature focusing on issues for children and young people and a continued privileging of the adult voice over children and young people’s needs.

Chronic diseases are the main cause of death and hospitalizations in the world. In 2005 World Health Organization estimated that over 60% of all annual deaths were due to chronic diseases, even with a high neconomic impact. For these reasons chronic illness care is one of the most difficult challenge for the health service: the management of chronic patients needs a different set-ting, as compared with the “hospital – based model” used for acute conditions. In this work, we described the first data of a Hub cardiology out-patient clinic of Azienda Socio Sanitaria Milano Nord, of Lombardia region. Between August 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016, we evaluated 2956 clinical examinations and 4364 instrumental tests. The five main diagnoses were: hypertension (25%), diabetes (17%), chronic coronary syndromes (12%), atrial fibrillation (14%), chronic heart failure (4%). Our results show the high volume of activities of cardiology service and demonstrate the important role of territorial cardiology for chronic cardiovascular disease management.

The diseases and health problems are concerns of managers of the Unified Health System has costs in more sophisticated care sector are high. The World Health Organization focused on prevention of chronic diseases to prevent millions of premature deaths in the coming years, bringing substantial gains in economic growth by improving the quality of life. Few countries appear to be aimed at prevention, if not note the available knowledge and control of chronic diseases and may represent an unnecessary risk to future generations. Early diagnosis of these diseases is the first step to successful treatment in any age group. The objective is to build a model, from the establishment of a Bayesian network, for the early diagnosis of nursing to identify eating disorders bulimia and anorexia nervosa in adolescents, from the characteristics of the DSM-IV and Nursing Diagnoses The need for greater investment in technology in public health actions aims to increase the knowledge of health professionals, especially nurses, contributing to prevention, decision making and early treatment of problems.

The prevention of youth violence is one of the major challenges of our time. Based on important key concepts on youth violence from the report of the World Health Organization, opportunities are presented for music therapy with youth to prevent violence. As music in its various forms reaches a very large number of young people all around the world on an emotional level, it is important to note its special ability to promote aggressive emotions as well as to regulate these same emotions. Integrated with more mainstream approaches, music therapy can have preventive potential at different levels: in individual settings, group programmes, and community approaches. Different music therapy approaches for the challenges of violence prevention are presented and developmental tasks for the future are discussed.

In this internet era, due to digitization in every application, a huge amount of data is produced digitally from the healthcare sectors. As per the World Health Organization (WHO), the mortality rate due to the various chronic diseases is increasing each day. Every year these diseases are taking lives of at least 50 million people globally, which includes even premature deaths. These days, machine learning (ML)-based predictive analytics are turning out as effective tools in the healthcare sectors. These techniques can extract meaningful insights from the medical data to analyze the future trend. By predicting the risk of diseases at the preliminary stage, the mortality rate can be reduced, and at the same time, the expensive healthcare cost can be eliminated. The chapter aims to briefly provide the domain knowledge on chronic diseases, the biological correlation between theses disease, and more importantly, to explain the application of ML algorithm-based predictive analytics in the healthcare sectors for the early prediction of chronic diseases.

Worldwide, the number of people with diabetes has quadrupled since 1980 reaching 422 million in 2014 (World Health Organization). This distressing rise in diabetes also affects pregnant women and thus, in regard to early programming of adult diseases, creates a vicious cycle of metabolic dysfunction passed from one generation to another. Metabolic diseases are complex and caused by the interplay between genetic and environmental factors. High-glucose exposure during in utero development, as observed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), is an established risk factor for metabolic diseases. Despite intense efforts to better understand this phenomenon of early memory little is known about the molecular mechanisms associating early exposure to long-term diseases risk. However, evidence promotes glucose associated oxidative stress as one of the molecular mechanisms able to influence susceptibility to metabolic diseases. Thus, we decided here to further explore the relationship between early glucose exposure and cellular stress in the context of early development, and focus on the concept of glycemic memory, its consequences, and sexual dimorphic and epigenetic aspects.

Background and aimSuicide is a serious and growing problem worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, for each death there are twenty attempts on record. Every year over 800,000 people commit suicide, that is, one in every forty. 45% of the people who commit suicide visit their Primary Health Care physician in the previous month. Seventy-five percent of suicides take place in countries with medium or low income and Argentine heads the suicide rate in Latin America. In the last twenty years the death by suicides rate in young people (aged 15–35) and has decreased in older age groups (+ 55), which historically presented the highest rates. In the inner zone of the province of Santiago del Estero, suicides have increased among teenagers [1].AimsTo know suicide statistics in young people in the last decade so that a prevention scheme can be produced.MethodsDescriptive observational study.ResultsIn the province of Santiago del Estero suicides occur more frequently among young people, aged 15–35, and the rate has increased significantly in the inner zone of the province.ConclusionsThe analysis carried out reveal that this problem in increasing in our province and it requires analysis and consensus in order to design a model of Primary Health Care Prevention.Disclosure of InterestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of no competing interest.
