Objective: The add-on intervention “metacognitive training for borderline patients (B-MCT)” targets cognitive biases in patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD). We aimed to evaluate acceptance, feasibility, and subjective use of this group intervention. Methods: Forty-eight inpatients with BPD were randomly assigned to 8 sessions of B-MCT versus an active control intervention (progressive muscle relaxation). Subjective use was assessed after 4 weeks. Results: B-MCT yielded significantly superior scores relative to the control group on several parameters, for example, use, fun, recommendation, and subjective improvements in symptomatology and cognitive abilities (e.g., perspective taking). Conclusions: The trial provides preliminary evidence for the acceptance and feasibility of metacognitive training in BPD. However, randomized controlled trials with larger samples and symptomatic outcomes are needed to investigate the specific impact of B-MCT on psychopathology and cognition.

ABTSRACT Introduction: Physical exercise as anticipate of hypertension along with nutrition and medicines. One of physical exercise that can be applicated here is relaxation techniques which is showed positive impact in decreased blood pressure. Objective: Determine the difference between PMR intervention with SSBM intervention to reduce blood pressure for grade I hypertension patients whose consumed anti-hypertension medicine in badung regency. Methods: Experimental method Pre and post-test control group design and used 24 subjects, divided in to 2 groups, in which the experimental group I (n=12) received progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) while the treatment group 2 (n=12) received slow stroke back massage (SSBM). Intervention is given 3 times a week for 4 weeks. This study was using simple random sampling. Blood pressure was measured by sphygmomanometer and stethoscope. Result: Independent Sample T-test showed there was significant difference between Group 1 and Group 2 which (p<0.05) for systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Conclusion: Progressive muscle relaxation intervention decrease blood pressure more than slow stroke back massage intervention in patients grade I hypertension whose consumed anti-hypertension medicine in Badung Regency.Keywords: progressive muscle relaxation, slow stroke back massage, grade I hypertension, blood pressure

(1) Background: A variety of stressors may be potentially harmful to adolescents’ health and well-being. Relaxation techniques have been recognized as a valid method for stress release, but the challenge is to apply them practically in schools to produce the desired effects. (2) Methods: This feasibility study used the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and hair cortisol concentration (HCC) to test the effects of an abbreviated progressive muscle relaxation (APMR) program on female adolescents. The participants were recruited from a high school and assigned by class cluster to either the experimental group (EG, n = 40) or the control group (CG, n = 35). Both received 4 weeks of stress-related lessons. The EG received 60 additional sessions of APMR over 12 weeks. (3) Results: The program dropout rate of the participants was 1.3%. The EG’s program adhesion rate was 99.1%, and nearly half felt satisfied with the program. After adjusting for the BMI and the pretest in the ANCOVA, it was found that the CG had a greater change in HCC between the pre- and post-tests than the EG, while the PSS did not change significantly in either group. (4) Conclusion: APMR is a valid practice for physiological homeostasis of HCC for female adolescents, but it has no significant effect on perceived stress.

Background: Sleep is one part of physiological needs and it is a basic need which is needed by all humans to be able to function optimally. However, the elderly will often experience sleep disorders. Sleep disorders in the elderly will affect the quality of sleep. One of nursing intervention that can improve the elderly sleeping quality is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. This study aims to determine the differences of sleep quality before and after having progressive muscle relaxation therapy toward the elderly with sleep disorders.Methods: This research was conducted at the Tresna Werdha Sabai Nan Aluih Social Home, Sicincin in 2019. The research was conducted for 2 weeks with one-week intervention. This research is a Quasy experiment using one group pre-test and post-test without control group design approach. This study used the sample of 16 respondents taken by purposive sampling. The analysis of data uses dependent T-test with a significance level of 95% (α 0.05).Results: The results of the study found that the average sleep quality of the elderly before being given the intervention was 13.63 and after the intervention it became 8.44 with p value of 0.000.Conclusions: The results showed that there were significant differences before and after the intervention. For this reason, it is recommended for the elderly with sleep disorders to be able to do progressive muscle relaxation therapy to improve sleep quality.

Diabetes mellitus is one of the diseases with great impact on health and society, not only for its high prevalence but also for chronic complications and high mortality.. The psychological impact of diabetes began to be felt by the patient since he was diagnosed the doctor. Patients begin to experience psychological disorders such stress on himself related to the care and treatment should be undertaken. Conditions of emotional stress that require proper handling in order not to fall on the more severe conditions. This study aims to identify the influence of combination therapy progressive muscle relaxation and deep breathing relaxation against stress levels of patients with diabetes mellitus in Prolanis BPJS Kesehatan Kota Palangka Raya. The design used in this study using the design of the study : “PRE-TEST-POST-TEST DESIGN WITH CONTROL GROUP”. In this study population was patients with diabetes mellitus in Prolanis BPJS Kesehatan Kota Palangka Raya. The sampling technique in this study using total sampling technique, as many as 48 people. This research is expected to contribute positively to the management of emotional stress in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Physiological changes in the elderly can cause a change in the neural system that is a disorder towards sleep quality while changes in the musculoskeletal system are the occurrence of muscle strength decline. Progressive Muscle Relaxation Therapy is a therapy which can improve sleep quality and muscle strength. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy towards muscle strength and sleep quality of the elderly at House Technical Implementation. The research type used is quasi-experiment design with pretest and posttest nonequivalent control group design. The population in this research were all elderly as many as 40 elderly people. The sampling technique used was Total Sampling which was then divided into intervention group which consists of 20 respondents and control group which consists of 20 respondents. The measurement tool used was PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire for sleep quality and the MMT (Manual Muscle Testing) observation sheet for muscle strength. Fatigue is a widespread clinical complaint among adults with type 2 diabetes. Fluctuating glucose levels can cause fatigue. Several factors are associated with fatigue in diabetic patients, including physiological factors such as hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia, psychological factors such as depression associated with diabetes. Progressive muscle relaxation is a procedure to get relaxation in the muscles through two steps, namely by applying tension to a muscle group and stopping the tension then focusing on how the muscle relaxes, feeling the sensation of relaxation and fatigue is reduced. The aim of this study was to identify the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on fatigue symptoms in type II DM clients in 15 control groups and 15 intervention groups. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design approach, consisting of one treatment (in the intervention group) and a control group. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis using t-independent and t-dependent tests. Wilcoxon test results in the intervention group and the control group showed a significant p-value of 0.002 (<0.05), meaning that there was a significant difference in fatigue symptoms in the intervention group before and after the intervention. This shows that there was a decrease in fatigue symptoms in the intervention group before and after combination OHO therapy and progressive muscle relaxation exercises (previously the average respondent in the intervention group experienced symptoms of severe fatigue, after intervention, the average value of fatigue symptoms turned into mild fatigue ). Conclusion: Progressive muscle relaxation combined with OHO therapy can reduce symptoms of fatigue compared to only OHO therapy.

Selain terapi farmakologis, penatalaksanaan asma  juga dapat dilakukan secara non farmakologis, diantaranya dengan latihan incorporating progressive muscle relaxation dan diaphragm breathing exercise yang dapat meningkatkan aliran puncak ekspirasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh incorporating progressive muscle relaxation dan diaphragm breathing exercise terhadap peningkatan aliran puncak ekspirasi (APE) pasien asma. Metode penelitian adalah quasy experimental pre-test dan post-test with control group. Jumlah responden penelitian adalah 80 orang yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu 60 orang kelompok intervensi dan 20 orang kelompok kontrol. Hasil uji beda paired sample t-test pada kelompok intervensi menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan APE sebelum dan sesudah intervensi (65,05% vs 81,17%, p=0,00). Hasil uji independen t-test menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan APE kelompok intervensi dengan kelompok kontrol (81,17% vs 65,10%, p=0,00). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa latihan incorporating progressive muscle relaxation dan diaphragm breathing exercise berpengaruh pada peningkatan APE.

A Quasi-experimental study was conducted to explore the effectiveness of Tailor Made Interventional Package(TIPER) among the elders at Voluntrait, POINCARE (Pondicherry Society Care for the Aged), Clunny Home for aged and Anbu Nilayam in Puducherry. TIPER consists of Jacobson Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Guided Imagery and Mindfulness Meditation Total enumerative sampling technique was adopted with 211 samples in phase one, and 90 samples were obtained in phase two was randomized into study and control group of 45 each. Control group samples were administered with physical exercises. A tool used in this study was Socio-demographic Variables, Mini-Mental Status Examination, Modified Kuppusamy Socio-Economic Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale(DASS-21), ICD-10 Criteria for Depression & General Anxiety, State and Trait Anxiety Scale. Results reveal that analysis of pre-test and post-test score in study group using paired ‘t' test shows the ‘p' value was <0.01 level were as in control group was not less than 0.01 level. Hence, TIPER was found effective in reducing the level of depression, anxiety and stress among elders at old age homes.

The objectives of the study were to 1. determine the pre-test and post-test level of blood pressure among patients with Hypertension in experimental and control group.2. assess the efficacy of Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation exercise on blood pressure among patients with Hypertension in experimental group.3. Associate the selected socio demographic variables with the level of blood pressure in experimental group. Hypothesis H0: There will not be a significant difference between pre and post test level of blood pressure after Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation exercise among patient with Hypertension in experimental and control group. H1: There will be a significant decrease in the level of blood pressure after Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation exercise among patient with Hypertension in experimental group. H2:There will be significant association between post test levels of blood pressure with selected demographic variables in experimental group. Review of literature was organised based on review related to Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation and Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation on blood pressure. The tool was validated by experts and found to be valid for the study. Sampling Technique: Sample was selected by using non probability convenience sampling method. Results: the data was tabulated, analyzed and interpreted by using descriptive and inferential statistics. After the detailed analysis this study leads to following conclusions, longer day of intervention shows significant decrease in the level of blood pressure. Shooting skills are complex. Athletes often have to face a situation requiring one shot to get a perfect score and maintain concentration and the trigger pull. This study aimed to analyze the difference in progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) exercise on increasing concentration and performance scores of 10-meter shooting. A total of 12 athletes (seven female dan five males) in Purwakarta were recruited for this study. They were randomly assigned to the PMR group (n = 6) and the control group (n = 6). The instruments used were the Concentration Grid Test for measuring concentration and the scores of 60 shots of the 10-meter shooting of both men and women for a performance test. Data analysis using MANCOVA was performed using shooting and concentration scores as the dependent variables and covariates to determine their performance. They can be differentiated based on conventional training methods, progressive muscle relaxation, and the interaction of these factors. The results of the MANCOVA indicated a significant main effect for exercise methods. It was revealed that differences in exercise methods had a significant effect on concentration and shooting scores. When athletes face the demands of top performance, PMR training is an economical but efficient and effective strategy for dealing with the problems. It helps athletes to do the self-control and focus their attention during stressful situations. It also can be used to maintain physical, technical, and mental balances.
