scholarly journals Perception of Women on Commercialisation of the Nigeria-Canada Indigenous Vegetables Project in Southwestern Nigeria

The paper investigated the perception of women toward the commercialisation of the NICANVEG indigenous vegetables project. A survey research design was used for the study. Samples of 390 women (300 for quantitative and 90 for qualitative) were used for the study. The samples were selected from three out of the four states in Southwestern Nigeria where the project took place between 2011 and 2014. Two adapted instruments titled “Questionnaire on NICANVEG Project and Commercialisation (QNPC)” and “Interview on NICANVEG Project and Commercialisation” (INPC) were used to collect data. Data collected were analysed using percentages, relative significant index, chi-square and software package (Atlas ti) statistical analyses. The results showed that 182 (60.7%) of the women expressed a positive perception towards the commercialisation of the product. It was showed that the extent of involvement of women in the commercialisation indicated that 78.0% of the women participated in full-scale commercialisation of NICANVEG indigenous vegetables. Again, the result showed the major challenges facing commercialisation of the vegetables were expensive farm equipment ( = 3.57, RSI = 0.719), untimely fund ( = 3.53 RSI = 0.711) and poor market prices of vegetables ( = 3.32, RSI = 0.666). Above all, the result showed a significant relationship between levels of participation in the training on NICANVENG indigenous vegetables project and the extent of commercialization of the product (χ2 = 111.865, p < 0.05). The study concluded that positive perception of the participants had enhanced the commercialization of the indigenous vegetables.

AbstrakPenelitian fenomenologi ini mempelajari tentang faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kebutuhan tidur meliputi aspek fisik, psikologis, lingkungan, dan gaya hidup pada pasien yang mengalami perubahan fungsi pernafasan. Desain penelitian adalah deskriptif korelasi. Sampel dipilih berdasarkan purposif sampling sehingga diperoleh jumlah responden 39 orang. Data diukur dengan menggunakan kuesioner penelitian yang telah diuji konstruk dan kesesuaiannya. Analisa data menggunakan Uji Chi Square (x2) dengan x 0,05 dan df 2 (x2 tabel = 5,991) sehingga diperoleh hasil x2 hitung 7,839 dan 11,636 masing-masing untuk hubungan nyeri, factor psikologis, dan faktor lingkungan terhadap gangguan kebutuhan tidur. Kesimpulan terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara faktorfaktor yang mempengaruhi tidur dengan gangguan kebutuhan tidur pada pasien dengan perubahan fungsi pernafasan. AbstractThis phenomelogical research studied factors influencing sleep. A pilot study prior to this study, revealed that compensation is an integral part of Nasco group of companies, in that packages have been instituted to enhance employees moral thereby enhancing their performance which should ripple on the general performance of the company yet, employees are observed not to perform as expected. This therefore inform this study. This study adopt a survey research design. The population of the study covers all staff of Nasco group of company but will be restricted to Nasco food Strategic Business Unit (SBU) which totals 84. The instrument employed for this study was structured questionnaire. The binary regression method was adopted to find out the linear relationship between Compensation and Employees Performance. The study showed that Bonuses has a significant relationship with Employee’s performance. As employees are constantly given bonuses, they are stimulated to perform. The bonuses accrued to employees is a major stimulant of performance in organizations. Secondly, it was observed from the analysis that commission has a significant relationship with Employee’s performance. The study thus recommends that in other to stimulate performance among its employees, Nasco Foods should maintain and keep reviewing there Bonus packages. Secondly, the management of Nasco Foods and SBUs of Nasco group should maintain and improve on their current commission package

  The study examined the influence of anonymity and mutual disclosure on trust in online counselling relationships in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprised undergraduate and postgraduate students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria.  Findings revealed that majority of the students showed moderate level of trust. It was also revealed that anonymity (β = 0.310, p < 0.05) and mutual disclosure (β= 0.627, p < 0.05) had positive and significant influence on counsellor-client trust. Also, sex significantly and inversely influenced counsellor-client trust (β= -1.683, p < 0.05), while the type of concerns presented by students had no significant relationship with counsellor-client trust (F= 2.313, p > 0.05).

Short stunted stature is a condition where z-score for height per age is less than -2 SD. Stunted children have a risk of 3,4 times being obese adolescents. In stunted adolescents, there is a disruption of the fat oxidation process that can cause obesity. In addition, stunted adolescents are less active than non-stunted. The purpose of this study was to determine whether a sedentary lifestyle is a factor that increases the risk of obesity in stunted adolescents. This study is an analytical study with a cross sectional research design. The participants are 63 adolescent selected by purposive sampling. Measurement include z-score height per age and BMI per age. Sedentary lifestyle is determined using modified Adolescent Sedentary Activity Questionnaire (ASAQ) and it categorize high if ≥5 hours per day. Data was analyzed by Chi-square. Proportion of stunted obesity in SMPN 1 and 2 Pasar Kemis in Tangerang Distric is 44,4%. There was significant relationship between sedentary lifestyle and obesity in stunted adolescent (p=0,001). Sedentary lifestyle are factors that increase the risk of stunted obesity in adolescents of SMPN 1 and 2 Pasar Kemis in Tangerang Distric. From the results of this study, it is hoped that institutions will continue to provide guidance and outreach to students so that obesity does not occur stunted.

The study investigated effect of brand ambassador endorsement and sales performance of Pepsi-Cola in Nasarawa State. The study adopted survey research design, with a study population of 203 respondents. Data for the study was primarily sourced via a questionnaire, structured with open and close ended questions. Data collected were regressed and findings revealed that Brand Ambassador’s credibility, popularity, acceptance and integrity severally have significant relationships with sales performance of Pepsi Cola in Nasarawa State. The study therefore, recognises that Brand Ambassador’s credibility, popularity, acceptance and integrity have significant relationship with sales performance of Pepsi Cola in Nasarawa State. However, suggestions from the open ended section of the questionnaire led to a recommendation that Pepsi-Cola, a fairly underperforming firm in the carbonated drink industry should invest hugely on other promotional and advertising platforms that will root there product in the heart of the market, with minimal focus on brand ambassadorship, due to the expensive nature of the brand ambassadorship model of brand promotion. The study examined the relationship between emotional intelligence, emotional regulation and emotional expressivity in employees. Present study was descriptive research based on survey research design conducted in various offices situated in Sargodha. Data from A purposive sample of employees (N =200) was collected using three scales. Results revealed significant relationship between emotional intelligence, emotional regulation and emotional expressivity in employees.: The finding has theoretical and applied significant in term of relationship between three interrelated constructs based on management of emotions at workplace. Berdasarkan data Dinas Kesehatan Kabutapten Bantul, data demam Berdarah Dengue dari seluruh Puskesmas di kabupaten Bantul Tahun 2017 menunjukan Puskesmas Sewon II menempati urutan pertama kejadian DBD dengan kasus sebanyak 44 kasus dan berdasarkan Data Puskesmas Sewon kabupaten Bantul terdapat 40 kasus kejadian Demam Berdarah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui Faktor-Faktor Risiko Yang Mempengaruhi Terjadinya Penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sewon II Bantul Tahun 2018. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif dengan rancangan penelitian case control. Jumlah sampel sebanyak dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 40 kasus dan 40 kontrol, menggunkan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan april 2018 dengan wawancara menggunkan kuesioner. Analisis data menggunakan uji chi-square dengan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara membersihkan tempat penampungan air, tidak mengubur barang-barang bekas, Tidak menabur bubuk abate dengan kejadian Demam Berdarah Dengue  pada pasien  di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sewon II Bantul. Tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara menggantung pakaian dengan kejadian Demam Berdarah Dengue pada pasien  di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sewon II Bantul. Based on data from Bantul District Health Office, dengue fever data from all Puskesmas in Bantul regency in 2017 shows Puskesmas Sewon II ranks first case of DHF with case as many as 44 cases and based on data of Puskesmas Sewon Bantul regency there are 40 case of Dengue fever. This studi aims to determine the risk factors that influence the occurrence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in the work area of ​​Sewon II Bantul Public Health Center in 2018. The research method used quantitative research design with case control research design. The number of samples in this study were 40 cases and 40 controls, using purposive sampling technique. The study was conducted in April 2018 by interview using a questionnaire. Data analysis using chi-square test with SPSS program. The result shows that there is a significant relationship between cleaning up water reservoirs, not burying used goods, not sowing abate powder with the occurrence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in patients in Public Health Center the Sewon II  Bantul. There is no significant relationship between hanging clothes with the occurrence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in patients Public Health Center in the Sewon II Bantul.

This study aims to determine the effect of hypnotherapy on weight loss in obese adolescents. The research design used is a quasi-experiment. The results showed that 15 respondents (68.2%) experienced weight loss, and seven respondents (31.8%) did not experience weight loss from the statistical test results obtained p-value 0.001 with a correlation coefficient value of 0.682. Also, the p-value of the chi-square test results is 0.004. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between hypnotherapy and weight loss.   Keywords: Weight Loss, Hypnotherapy, Youth

As a result of shortage of female successor due in part to gender bias succession practices, this study was necessitated to look at encumbrances against women successors of Family Owned Businesses (FOBs) in Anambra State. The broad objective of this study was to examine female successors and sustainability of family owned businesses. The work adopted a survey research design. The population of the study was 415 FOBs in Anambra State. Complete enumeration method was adopted so as to get the full opinion of all firms on gender issues and female succession. The data for the study was collected through structured questionnaire. A combination of descriptive (mean) and inferential statistics (chi-square) were deployed in the data analysis. The result showed that there are obstacles that have substantial effect on women becoming successors of FOBs in Anambra State and that sexism play a statistically significant role in determining successors in Anambra State. Sequel to this, it was concluded that women and men in Anambra State do not have a level playing ground in determining who becomes a successors of FOBs in Anambra state as there are hurdles women face and these obstacles have significant effect on who becomes a successors. Hence, the recommendation was that successors of FOBs should not be based on gender but on capability and the provision of level playing ground for both the female and male genders in the succession dynamics.

The study investigated the challenges facing the planning of manpower in the educational institutions in F.C.T, Abuja, Nigeria. We used survey research design for this study. Questionnaire was adopted for this study. The questionnaire was tagged ”Investigate the challenges facing the planning of manpower in the educational institutions Questionnaire” The reliability of the instrument was determined through the use of test and re-test method. 80 educational planners and educational officers in charge of manpower planning in the ministry, department and agency of education were selected for the study through the use of purposive sampling method. Seven hypotheses were formulated by the researchers for the study. Mean, simple percentage and chi-square was used to analyze the information collected from the study. Data collected for the purpose of this study was collated, analyzed and the following was drawn that inadequate data/information, shortage of professional planners in manpower, inadequate working materials, poor capacity development of educational planners, political instability, lack of political and inadequate planning funds are the challenges facing the planning of manpower in the educational sector in F.C.T, Abuja.
