Asthma could affect quality of life and decrease productivity. The worsening of asthma symptoms also affected lung function. Symptoms of asthma could be control by self-management. The patient's behavior in self-management influenced by his perception of asthma.  This research aims to determine  effect of perception of disease on health function of parents in asma patients in surabaya. Research using observational methods with cross sectional design. Research Subjects were outpatient asthma patients aged 17-25 years. Data collection was conducted from June 2015 to January 2016 in Surabaya, to 27 people.  Assessment of asthma perception use Illness Perception Questionnaire (IPQ) and health condition of lung function with peak flow meter to assess PEF (peak expiratory flow). The results of this study indicate that both groups have a PEF value <50% of the estimated PEF value. The data showed no significant difference (p (0.766)> 0.05) between disease perceptions based on the number of asthma-related symptoms with lung function (PEF), with the greatest answer as the cause of asthma that is genetic. Therefore, the perception of asthma does not affect lung function (PEF) in adult asthma patients in Surabaya.

Adult patients visiting emergency room (March 2009-December 2009) of the public chest hospital for asthma exacerbation completed interviewer-administered questionnaires on sociodemographics, clinical history, disease beliefs, use of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS), and self-management of asthma after stabilization of their condition. Overall 87% patients believed that they had asthma when they are having symptoms, which is called as no symptoms, no asthma belief. No association was found between no symptoms, no asthma belief with gender, income, family history of asthma, and co-morbidity. Younger patients in the age group 18-29 years had four to five-fold greater odds and patients with education above 10th grade had three to four-fold greater odds of having the no symptoms, no asthma belief or the acute episodic belief. Acute episodic belief was negatively associated with beliefs about always having asthma, asthma being a serious condition, having lung inflammation, or the importance of using ICS, and was positively associated with expecting to be cured. All patients irrespective of their belief of acute or chronic nature of asthma had poor adherence to the treatment and other self-management behaviors.

This cross-sectional research aims to study the effect of yoga practice on the illness perception, and wellbeing of healthy adults during 4–10 weeks of lockdown due to COVID19 outbreak. A total of 668 adults (64.7% males, M = 28.12 years, SD = 9.09 years) participated in the online survey. The participants were grouped as; yoga practitioners, other spiritual practitioners, and non-practitioners based on their responses to daily practices that they follow. Yoga practitioners were further examined based on the duration of practice as; long-term, mid-term and beginners. Multivariate analysis indicates that yoga practitioners had significantly lower depression, anxiety, & stress (DASS), and higher general wellbeing (SWGB) as well as higher peace of mind (POMS) than the other two groups. The results further revealed that the yoga practitioners significantly differed in the perception of personal control, illness concern and emotional impact of COVID19. However, there was no significant difference found for the measure of resilience (BRS) in this study. Yoga practitioners also significantly differed in the cognitive reappraisal strategy for regulating their emotions than the other two groups. Interestingly, it was found that beginners -those who had started practicing yoga only during the lockdown period reported no significant difference for general wellbeing and peace of mind when compared to the mid- term practitioner. Evidence supports that yoga was found as an effective self- management strategy to cope with stress, anxiety and depression, and maintain wellbeing during COVID19 lockdown.

Knee pain is an early sign of later incident radiographic knee osteoarthritis (OA). However, the prevalence of knee pain in the general population is unknown. Additionally, it is unknown how people with knee pain choose to self-manage the condition and if the perception of the illness affects these choices. In this study, 9086 citizens between 60–69 years old in the municipality of Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, Denmark, were surveyed, of which 4292 responded. The prevalence of knee pain was estimated, and associations between illness perceptions (brief illness perception questionnaire [B-IPQ]), self-management strategies, and knee symptoms were assessed. The prevalence of knee pain was 21.4% of which 40.5% reported to use no self-management strategies (non-users). These non-users perceived their knee pain as less threatening and reported less severe symptoms than users of self-management strategies. Further, we found that a more positive illness perception was associated with less severe knee symptoms. In conclusion, among Danes aged 60–69 years, the knee pain prevalence is 21.4%, of which 40.5% use no treatment and perceive the condition as non-threatening. These non-users with knee pain represent a subpopulation being at increased risk of developing knee OA later in life, and there is a potential preventive gain in identifying these persons.

Introduction. For health assessment, beside the data of routine health statistics, it is necessary to include and data obtained by a health survey of the citizens. Objective. The aim of this study was to establish how northern Kosovska Mitrovica adults assess their health and which diseases are most common among the population, as well as to investigate differences in relation to demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, the characteristics of social interaction and health behavior and habits. Methods. The research was conducted as a cross-sectional study conducted on the representative sample of adult citizens in northern Kosovska Mitrovica in 2006. Two hundred-eighteen respondents were included in the survey. In the research we used a questionnaire identical to the Health Survey conducted in Serbia in 2006. The significance of differences in responses about self-rated health and chronic diseases in relation to the characteristics of respondents? responses were determined by X2-test with the significance level of 0.05. Results. Over half of the respondents (54.7%) assessed their health condition as good or very good. There was a significant difference in self-rated health in relation to the respondents? age (?2=202.036; p=0.000), education (?2=72.412; p=0.000), social support (?2=12.416; p=0.015), smoking (?2=11.675; p=0.020) and physical activity (?2=61.842; p=0.000). The leading health problems among the respondents were high blood pressure, rheumatologic diseases of joints, ulcer of the duodenal or gastric ulcer, gall bladder disease and high blood fat. Conclusion. Adult residents of northern Kosovska Mitrovica assessed their health as better than the residents of Serbia without Kosovo and Metohia. The diseases in which stress plays the major role among etiological factors are in the leading position. The obtained data on the population level of specific areas represent the basis in the planning of health education and health promotion activities.

Preliminary : Endothelial cells are a single layer that lines the entire vascular system. Endothelial dysfunction can be triggered by several main things, namely physical stress, oxidative stress and irritant substances. Obesity triggers an inflammatory process and metabolic disorders that will lead to increased oxidative stress. Long-term oxidative stress will cause damage to cells and tissues and trigger degenerative diseases. Damage to endothelial cells is expected to be detected by examining Von Willenbrand levels so that it can prevent complications of vascular disorders early. Method: This research is descriptive with cross sectional design. Carried out from March to October 2018 on the USU Campus. The first examination was done to measure body weight and height to determine body mass index, then performed lipid profile and blood sugar levels (KGD) in the sample, then examined von Willenbrand factor levels carried out in the integrated laboratory of USU FK using the method ELISA in both the sample group and the control group. The research subjects were adolescents aged 17-25 years with BMI> 25 kg / m2Data analysis was carried out using the T-Test statistical program, comparing two groups. Result: Of the 40 obese subjects found Von Wilenbrand level values The lowest factor was 1.78 IU / ml and the highest was 35.60 IU / ml. Whereas in 40 non-obese subjects Von Wilenbrand grade values were the lowest factor of 2.01 IU / ml and the highest was 45.10 IU / ml. This difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.661).Conclusion: There was no significant difference between the levels of Von Wilenbrand Factors in obese subjects with non-obese subjectsKey Words: Obesity, endothelial cells, Von Wilenbrand Factors

Abstract Purpose: To explore the predictive effect of illness perceptions on vision-related quality of life (VRQoL) in Chinese glaucoma patients. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 97 patients with glaucoma completed the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (BIPQ), the Glaucoma Quality of Life-15 (GQL-15), and a questionnaire with sociodemographic and clinical information. Correlation analysis and hierarchical linear regression analysis were performed. Results: The BIPQ total score was positively correlated with the scores of the total GQL-15 and its four dimensions. Chronic comorbidities, type of glaucoma, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), mean defect (MD) of visual field in the better eye, and identity in the BIPQ were the critical predictors of VRQoL. Illness perceptions independently accounted for 7.8% of the variance in the VRQoL of glaucoma patients. Conclusions: Patients with stronger illness perceptions who perceive themselves as having more glaucoma symptoms are likely to experience worse VRQoL. Illness perceptions in glaucoma patients deserve clinical attention, and further studies are needed to examine whether cognitive interventions targeting illness perceptions can improve VRQoL.
