Social teachings and practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ukraine

The article provides an overview of the social practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The level of Adventist participation in educational, health, philanthropic and political activities is analyzed. It is determined that the educational activity of Adventists is based on the integration of Christian values into the educational process in order to educate a purposeful person who is able to serve God and society at a high level. Adventist medical and health activities are aimed at preventing physical illness, as it is believed that the disease is easier to prevent than to cure. Adventists practice charity through the officially established Adventist Relief and Development Agency, which believes that the Church’s assistance to society must meet not only the spiritual but also the physical needs of man. Adventist participation in politics is not approved, but it is not forbidden. This is due to the conflict and rivalry that arises in the political race, so it is desirable to use your talents in those areas that bring peace and good to society. It is stated that the central idea of the social teaching of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is the protection of freedom of conscience and the dignity of the human person. Thus, by putting the principles of social doctrine into practice, the Seventh-day Adventist church premises become the Church’s social laboratories, through which the faithful of this denomination achieve two goals. The first of them is aimed at spreading their own religious beliefs and teachings, and the second – following the example of Christ, who during his life on earth served the physical needs of society around him. As a result of the study, the document “Social Teaching of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ukraine” aims to implement the Church’s two goals: educational and charitable, the implementation of which allows the denomination to positively represent themselves in Ukrainian and world society.

Catholic social teaching (CST), a branch of moral theology, addresses contemporary issues within the political, economic, and cultural structures of society. The threefold cornerstone of CST contains the principles of human dignity, solidarity, and subsidiarity. It is the foundation on which to form our conscience in order to evaluate the framework of society and is the Catholic criteria for prudential judgment and direction in developing current policy-making. With knowledge of these social principles, in combination with our faith, we will be more armed and informed as to articulate the Catholic vision of reality, the truthful nature of the human person and society, to apply and integrate the social teachings in our everyday administrative and clinical encounters, and through the virtue of charity take action within the social, political, and economic spheres in which we have influence. Summary The Church's social encyclicals are a reflection upon the issues of the day using the light of faith and reason. They offer commentary on the ways to evaluate and address particular social problems—also using natural law principles—in the areas of politics, economics, and culture. Quotes were selected from the encyclicals that define and expand upon the primary principles for the purpose of representing them for study, reflection, and use in everyday personal and business encounters and decision making for healthcare professionals.

<div><p><em>The article analyzes the peculiarities of the format of native advertising in the media space, its pragmatic potential (in particular, on the example of native content in the social network Facebook by the brand of the journalism department of ZNU), highlights the types and trends of native advertising. The following research methods were used to achieve the purpose of intelligence: descriptive (content content, including various examples), comparative (content presentation options) and typological (types, trends of native advertising, in particular, cross-media as an opportunity to submit content in different formats (video, audio, photos, text, infographics, etc.)), content analysis method using Internet services (using Popsters service). And the native code for analytics was the page of the journalism department of Zaporizhzhya National University on the social network Facebook. After all, the brand of the journalism department of Zaporozhye National University in 2019 celebrates its 15th anniversary. The brand vector is its value component and professional training with balanced distribution of theoretical and practical blocks (seven practices), student-centered (democratic interaction and high-level teacher-student dialogue) and integration into Ukrainian and world educational process (participation in grant programs).</em></p></div><p><em>And advertising on social networks is also a kind of native content, which does not appear in special blocks, and is organically inscribed on one page or another and unobtrusively offers, just remembering the product as if «to the word». Popsters service functionality, which evaluates an account (or linked accounts of one person) for 35 parameters, but the main three areas: reach or influence, or how many users evaluate, comment on the recording; true reach – the number of people affected; network score – an assessment of the audience’s response to the impact, or how far the network information diverges (how many share information on this page).</em></p><p><strong><em>Key words:</em></strong><em> nativeness, native advertising, branded content, special project, communication strategy.</em></p>

The purpose of this research is to study the need for the students' communication activity component at the Pharmaceutical faculty of VSMU. Dual feature of the levels indicators dynamics in the need for communication is revealed. On the one hand, there is a tendency to reduce the average level in the need for communication and to increase its high level at the expense of girls. On the other hand, there is a fairly significant increase in the average level in the need for communication among young men against the background of an obvious predominance of the average level in the need for communication among the students of the entire sampling. The study allows us to state obvious influence of the informational educational environment at VSMU on the personal growth of students at the Pharmaceutical faculty, on the formation of their communicative competence as the most important component of the professional competence of future pharmacists. The results of the study can be used in the educational process of VSMU, in the activities of the social and pedagogical and psychological service, in the work of educators in academic groups and for tutors.

The problem of forming the competence of a specialist in social work has always been a complex issue that needs to be addressed as rapidly as possible. At present there is a growing demand for specialists in the social sphere, characterized by a clearly defined professional focus, high intellectual level, creativity, the ability to constant development and improvement, analyze the problems of vulnerable population groups, plan the work of both social workers and the social service in general, dedication to human, national ideas etc. The provision of quality education for prospective specialists in social work in Ukraine requires the revision of methods and forms, principles and approaches to their training. The article justifies the necessity of using the information and communication technologies in the educational process, as modern social workers should have a competitive advantage in the labor market, be able to respond efficiently to the problems in the human-human system relying on their own ability to communicate and cooperate with various categories of population, and at the same time striving to achieve a holistic development of one's own personality and professional activity, acquire competences, skills, professionalism. Nowadays the human person, with their essential nature and subjectivity is the highest objective of society. The introduction of information and communication technologies into the training promotes the development of professional competences of the future social workers and is an arms-length process of education development. Prospective trends of using information and communication technologies are determined as following: they can be both the object of study and the means of instructions. The results of a survey among specialists in social work on obtaining practical-oriented knowledge and skills have been presented.

Introduction. Today, one of the criteria for assessing the quality of education is the opinion of students about educational services. Undergraduates enrolled in distance learning programs represent a specific student audience. Features of this category form a social portrait that has the information potential for organizing an effective educational process adapted to the “target audience”. Methodology and sources. In the academic year 2018–2019, the author conducted an empirical case study through an anonymous online survey of graduate students of the correspondence department of the first year of study. Results and discussion. As a result of the survey, respondents have received answers characterizing the peculiarities of their life, sociocultural environment, professional activity and factors of formation of motives of educational activity. The information obtained is presented in tables, which allowed to form a “numerical” outline of the social portrait of an extramural student. The result of an empirical study was a description of the collective image of a student studying in absentia in a magistracy. Active professional activity, focus on success, limited time resources, etc., determined the content of wishes for improving the conditions and process of educational activity. The main adjustments should relate to the effective planning of the educational process, methodological support of classroom and extracurricular activities, providing comfortable conditions for a long stay in an educational institution and communication with fellow students.Conclusion. The social portrait of students contains information about their typical representatives, the sociocultural environment of life.  Regular monitoring of the dynamics of socially significant characteristics of students allows you to quickly make adjustments that improve the quality of education.

Current trends in the development of the education sector require significant changes in approaches, methods, techniques and tasks of training. The challenges that arise need to be addressed, which will make it possible to increase the competitiveness of higher education seekers after their graduation, and, as a consequence, to improve the competitiveness of the higher education institution itself. The tasks that arise are: a change in the approach to the educational process of research and teaching staff, which must consist in the interest of teachers themselves to improve the quality of educational services they provide; a change in the approach to the educational process of learners – students, listeners, cadets, etc. – that is, it is necessary to transform those who are taught into those who learn; definition of criteria for the effectiveness of education, which is obviously not only in achieving program learning outcomes. The main criteria of efficiency of educational activity are formulated in the article. These criteria are obviously not only the amount and strength of knowledge and skills, competencies and program learning outcomes. Using only such criteria, it is impossible to fully assess the current requirements for the effectiveness of education. In the conditions of market relations, economic crisis, global mental restructuring, the main criterion for the effectiveness of training of the specialist is the ability to employ him in various positions after graduation, and possibly during training. What is more important is the ability of the job seeker to self-improve and master various competencies when changing functional responsibilities. That is, a higher education student must have a wide range of competencies, not only deep ones, which will enable him to develop under certain conditions in the performance of functional duties. Such tasks make it possible to solve the use of elements of dual education, distance technology using modern technological solutions and motivation of participants in the educational process to self-development. The article concludes that the mutual combination of dual education with distance learning technologies should ultimately solve the urgent problem of training an experienced specialist with a high level of competence who will be able to perform production tasks without additional internship or training after graduation.

This chapter details the rise and fall of perhaps the most unusual bloc within the neoconservative movement: the Catholic neoconservatives. It traces how Michael Novak's best seller The Spirit of Democratic Capitalism (1982) caused Catholic neoconservatives to shift American Catholic discussion of economics to a defense of “democratic capitalism” as the purest distillation of Catholic social teaching. This argument was reinforced when another Catholic neoconservative, George Weigel, seized the public image of John Paul II for political purposes with the publication of Weigel's biography Witness to Hope (1999). Once the neoconservatives were able to speak for conservative Catholicism in America, they rallied American Catholic celebrities to their positions on foreign interventionism, support for multinational corporations, and Jewish ultranationalism. Integral to this campaign was the success of Catholic neoconservatives in fashioning an American Catholic understanding of political philosophy, starting with the social teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas. In The Hemisphere of Liberty, Novak dwells on a statement made by the English Catholic classical liberal Lord Acton in order to present St. Thomas as the “First Whig.” This was part of an arduous effort to reconcile medieval political philosophy with the neoconservative understanding of Anglo-American liberalism.

The article clarifies the main tendencies of the school economic education development in Ukraine from the end of the 20th to the beginning of the 21st century. The stages of the economic disciplines’ implementation in the educational process of secondary education establishments are revealed as: the first stage (it was between 1991 – 1993) was a period of the search of content, forms and methods of teaching economics; the second stage (between 1994-2000) was the period of formation and updating of the school economic education content; the third stage (2001-2004) was the period of mass introduction of economy in general educational establishments; the fourth stage (since 2005) was the period of the formation of continuous economic education. It was revealed that the socio-political and socio-economic changes taken place in the early 1990s with the proclamation of Ukraine’s independence actualized the issue of providing the high level of the younger generation economic competence. That is why, since the middle of the 90’s, the optional classes in economics are opened in schools, and later ‒ the economics and entrepreneurship classes. In the process of the research it has been found out that the beginning of the 21st century was marked by the adoption of a number of state acts proclaiming general trends in the development of education in Ukraine and identified the peculiarities of school educational management including economic (the inclusion of economic education in the invariant and variation part of the curriculum, introduction of the economic profile of the social and humanitarian direction, the expansion and differentiation of the content of economic education, the improvement of the quality of personnel and logistics of teaching disciplines and economic direction). It is emphasized that the quality of secondary education is ensured through the implementation of the invariant and variation parts of the curriculum. The corresponding disciplines are presented as those that form the students’ outlook, economic culture and entrepreneurship. It was indicated that a positive step towards the reforming of secondary education was the introduction of profile education in secondary schools, which included the economic profile of the social and humanitarian direction. It was stated that at the beginning of the XXI century, in the conditions of permanent changes in society, integration into the world educational space, a school economic education also sustains a constant modernization on the way of upgrading the content and finding the effective forms of the students’ economic competence development.

The article is devoted to the research of position of students of Yaroslavl Demidov Juridical Lyceum in the second half of the XIX century, their educational activity, everyday life and service. During this period, the Juridical Lyceum converted from cameral in the course of one of the most important components of the era of the Great Reforms in Russia - the judicial reform of 1864, largely coincided with the functioning of the law faculties of the leading universities of the country. Liberal reforms of Alexander II gave the initial impulse to the organization and the formation of the student life of the Lyceum. However, on its existence reflected counterreform of Alexander III, manifested in the reconstruction and reinforcing the social-estate education bureaucracy. However, on its existence was reflected counter reforms of Alexander III, which was manifested in the reconstruction the social-estate education and reinforcing bureaucracy. Against this background, the author considers educational activity and household position Yaroslavl students. A major role in the financial support of students played the board of trustees of Yaroslavl Demidov Juridical Lyceum. It was manifested in the organization of free and reduced price meals of students, granting privileges in hiring accommodation and payment of stipends. All this allowed Demidov Lyceum overtake on certain indicators even metropolitan universities. Analysis of the lists of lyceum students shows that by social origins the vast majority among them are nobles, but there were among the students and people from clerical estate - the former seminarians, as well as children of minor officials and even peasants. However, about 50% of the students paid themselves for their education. However, about 50% of the students paid for their education by themselves. Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of position of students in the period under review show that the Yaroslavl Demidov Juridical Lyceum continued to develop successfully, helped by the efficient organization of the educational process and the establishment of a student service. Demidov Lyceum was the real source of legal personnel in Russia. As a result, the urban community and local authorities quite logical has put on the agenda the question of the transforming the Lyceum into University.
