The article consists of a literature review by surveying publications of theses and dissertations filed in the database of the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) of (MCTI). In the first part, we present a theoretical framework on university, educational policy and social emancipation. In the second part, we catalog and analyze the productions by reading the summary and keywords. In this section, we make a brief analysis of the surveys grouping them by emerging categories and subcategories, that is, which emerged during the analysis. For the construction of the text, we opted for a documentary research, in an exploratory perspective and with a qualitative approach of getting to know the field of production through theses and dissertations. Among the themes found, we identified: institutional evaluation, University, Educational policy, School management, Professional training, School as rights, Itinerant School. Finally, we believe that the research contributions are timely and reinforce that we have achieved our objective.

In 1976, the challenges faced by women of color who pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields were first brought to national attention. Forty-two years later, the authors re-examine the challenges, barriers, and successes of women of color in STEM higher education. This chapter examines the landscape of the STEM professoriate through a literature review (journals, trade magazines, theses, and dissertations) and reflective shorts and quotes from women of color navigating the STEM professoriate. The literature review spans a 10-year period (2008-2018). Both the review and the reflections focus on the areas of STEM belonging, self-presentation, stereotyping, institutional racism, discrimination, and tokenism as challenges faced by women of color in the STEM professoriate. Additionally, mechanisms used by women of color to navigate and succeed despite these barriers, such as mentoring, are explored throughout.

Abstract. The instrumental pedagogical practice constitutes a secular condition that takes place in education and the pedagogical exercise of physical education is permeated by this situation. Isolating ourselves from this conception implies investing in possibilities to overcome challenges that are part of teacher training and to value experiences that they develop in class based on new educational paradigms. This study aims to analyze research published between 2017 and 2019 in SCOPUS and in the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel CAPES related to reflective pedagogical practice and its contributions to physical education. I regards to the methodology, a bibliographic research supported by the qualitative approach has been prioritized. Among the results, the studies point out that the reflexive approach to physical education depends on a link between thinking and doing and also indicate the relevance of linking teacher training to their own practices.

In order to investigate and identify what the scientific productions reveal about the professionality of school pedagogical coordination, this study through the methodological path of the state-of-the-art type, sought to map the information presented in academic productions stored in the repository, Theses and Dissertations Catalog of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). Following the mapping, the literature review on the concept of professionalism, the reading of the summaries of the productions found, their records and analysis of the data collected so that after this step it was possible to establish some categories, as well as highlight elements that constitute a process that we can call school pedagogical coordination professionality. The theoretical foundation of the concepts of professionalism was used respectively by the authors Dubar (2005), Nóvoa (2017), and on the attributions and knowledge of the pedagogical coordination, the authors Placco, Souza and Almeida (2012), who bring an important contribution to the study of the theme.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify critical gaps in the conceptualization and interpretation of sustainability by investigating the postgraduate research (theses and dissertations) conducted with a reference to sustainability in Turkish higher education institutions and synthesizing the underlying themes and trends pertaining to sustainability issues in the local discourse. Design/methodology/approach The study adopts a mixed-method design. The sample (n=343) consists of the theses and dissertations conducted over a ten-year period in Turkish universities. Data analysis procedures include a quantitative investigation through numbers to address the level of value attached to postgraduate research on sustainable development; a content analysis on the focus and scope of each study to determine prevalent sustainability themes and dimensions frequently addressed in the studies; and a collocation analysis conducted on the texts of the studies to depict linguistic and cultural connotations of sustainable development in the local discourse and key terms that frequently collocate with sustainable development in the Turkish context. Findings Neither a sufficient number of direct references to sustainability nor a substantial increase in the number of studies throughout the decade is depicted. Only one-third of Turkish universities steer postgraduate research on sustainability, which is not evenly distributed to various institutions across the country. Three-quarters of the studies are conducted within economy-related and engineering-related programs. The social dimension of sustainability is under-researched. The topics tend to ply between environmental and economic edges. Turkey, as a word, is collocated frequently with the concepts of external debt, current deficit, energy, policy, and EU. Linguistically, the concept of sustainable development is predominantly associated with economic growth in the majority of the studies. Sustainability is contextualized mostly with making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable and promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment, and decent work. Originality/value The value of the paper lies in the paucity of studies tracking the research initiatives taken on sustainability, assessing research trends in postgraduate programs of higher education institutions, and looking into a global concept from a local perspective in a developing country, Turkey.

Abstract The article deals with the problem of forming education managers’ professional competency in the context of European integration educational processes. The peculiarities of education managers’ competences as well as directions of their professional training in motivational, cognitive and metacognitive spheres have been theoretically justified. The performed analysis of curricula in higher education institutions of Central European countries has proved their use of the complex approach to forming professional competences of education managers. The author has revealed the peculiarities of education managers’ professional training while mastering accredited specialized courses in School Management in the Centre for Lifelong Education at Faculty of Education at Palacký University in Olomouc, the Czech Republic; a Bachelor’s degree in Education Specialization (School Management) at Charles University in Prague, the Czech Republic; in the context of the project launched by the European Social Fund (EFS) called “The Development of Education Managers’ Competences in Schools and Educational Institutions in the Hradec Králové Region – the Model of Professional Education”, the Czech Republic. The purpose of this chapter is to argue that higher education institutions (HEIs) in doing quality assurance (QA) must focus on the critical aspects of quality assurance, the need to look at the advantages, disadvantages, and challenges facing HEIs regarding quality assurance. It is assumed that institutions should carry out quality assurance and accreditation processes for stakeholders to have confidence in them. It also explains in detail what quality assurance and accreditation must entail in higher education institutions (HEIs). The need to maintain high-quality education standards becomes a critical requirement for HEIs to remain competitive in the education sector market. This chapter follows a qualitative approach in exploring quality assurance and accreditation in HEIs. Data will be collected through literature review. Quality assurance and accreditation in HEIs must aim to maintain and raise the quality of education and to guarantee the improvement of its standards.
