As other chapters have made clear, the corruption of politics was a concern of the pre-modern era, especially in relation to political officers. Yet alongside the corruption of politics there was also a very strong politics of corruption. ‘Anti-corruption’ was nearly always political, in the sense of having a political agenda, implicit or explicit, behind it. This chapter argues that these political dimensions need to be recognised more than they have been. The chapter examines the ‘work’ done by the discourse of corruption, underlining its emotive power and its capacity both to challenge political rules and to help define boundaries of legitimate behaviour. The politics of anti-corruption is highlighted in the imperial context through a case study of early eighteenth-century Barbados. The chapter then examines these political functions in relation to the many highly politicised impeachments for corruption, from 1621 to 1806.

This contribution underlines the conditions in which we are living, as a consequence of the pandemic events that have impacted the whole world. It is also intended to discuss possible strategies to be adopted for territorial, economic and social revitalization. Many companies have developed research and examples useful to the revaluation of the spaces of the city and that suggest the areas in which to invest to achieve this goal. It is also addressed the issue of the resilient periphery, a topic that has become extremely current if you try to consider the virus positively as a catalyst for opportunities. Speaking of the periphery, the example of a residential complex in Posillipo, Italy, is examined. An avant-garde project in a residential context in which, to this day, despite the many qualities of the neighborhood, its shortcomings are strongly felt: services not easily accessible, absent transportation, etc. In conclusion, having suggested the possible strategies and approaches to be adopted, it is hoped that with the funds made available, the idea of territorial recovery and enhancement can really become a reality.

The Qur'an is a collection of texts that require a very deep understanding and interpretation. Without interpretation, the text of the Qur'an remains a text that cannot speak. Literature is the result of human creation using the medium of written and spoken language, is imaginative, delivered in a unique way, and contains messages that are relatively. The purpose of this study is to explain the literary criticism approach to the Qur'an according to Amin Al-Khuli's view, so that we as Muslims understand more deeply about the contents of the Qur'an. Literary Approach as a Knife of Analysis in Understanding the Text of the Qur'an, Literary approach in interpretation actually emerged due to the large number of non-Arabs who converted to Islam and due to the weakness of the Arabs themselves in the field of literature, so it was felt necessary to explain to them about privileges and circumstances of the meaning of the content of the Qur'an. Then in the modern era the literary approach in the Qur'an was driven by Amin al-Khuli (died. 1968 AD) at the end of the twentieth century (20). He is a professor of Qur'anic studies at Cairo University. According to Amin al-Khuli, the Qur'an is the greatest book in Arabic. One of his theses states that the Qur'an is the greatest work of Arabic literature. The Qur'an has made the Arabic language never die, and along with its status as the language that God has chosen to convey His divine messages, makes the Qur'an itself as something that does not know dry.

Abstract Arabic literature has been followed by what had followed other literatures in the world which was the emergence of printing, accompanied with the spread of press journalism, easy circulation of books and publications, that has revolutionized the literary styles and artistic genre. Written article was the most prominent genre that has been adopted by the Arabic prose from the Western literature as it engaged social and present needs, and the topics it covered varied and were suitable with the nature of its readers, whose circle was extensive and they came from all strata of society. The researchers followed the descriptive analytical approach to show the extent of the Western literature’s influence on Arabic literature in the modern era. The result of the study shows results including: the emergence of written article and its advancement in Arabic literature was a natural development in line with the needs of life. It was the fruit of the invention of printing technology and the spread of newspapers and magazines, as it was the most suitable form of art that can be used to express the needs of human beings in the modern era, far from decoratives and rules that burdened the previous literary prose forms, thus made it unfit for the journalistic expression of life and events. Keywords: literary criticism, literary prose, article, literary revolution, anthology writing.

Palu City is one of the provincial capitals in Indonesia which is right on the Equator line. In addition, this city is one of the many regions in the eastern part of Indonesia that have a considerable potential for natural disasters. The natural disaster that occurred in Palu on September 28, 2018 consisted of three types of disasters, the first was an earthquake, the second tsunami and the last was liquefaction. This natural disaster caused damage to supporting infrastructure and thousands of people died. The large number of fatalities illustrates that the preparation and preparedness of the community and local government authorities are still low, mainly due to a lack of knowledge and concern for these natural phenomena and their consequences. The earthquake and tsunami disaster that took place in the city of Palu Sigi and Donggala was a momentum to change the paradigm of disaster management by increasing community preparedness. This research tells the story of the phenomenon of the three natural disasters, also tried to explain the steps and design of disaster mitigation. Disaster Mitigation must be implemented to reduce the risk of natural disasters. Public policy about community preparedness towards disaster management is very important and urgent to do in order to reduce disaster risk. Disaster cases in Palu City as a case study are considered relevant for the implementation of disaster management systems.

Brisbane is increasingly experiencing problems relating to ecological and water sustainability within the urban fabric. This is caused by developments that are overly focused on keeping itself sustainable but neglecting the overall scheme of the urban layout. As individual developments make up the larger part of the cities, an investigation on the benefits of having them clustered together is explored in this research. Through analyses of current urban practices in Brisbane, it was found that the city aspires to attain better standards in ecological sustainability, and has progressively supported sustainable practices in government and local groups alike. However, little has been done in terms of the larger urban fabric working cohesively in achieving sustainable goals. Investigation into the sustainable realms of ecology reveals other themes that must also be addressed, primarily subjects relating to social liveability, and the viability of increasing biodiversity in an already dense city. The results indicate that current practices and policies need a broader scope in application to the urban fabric, and are followed with proposals utilising clustered development in addressing the shortcomings of these on-going practices. The feasibilities of the proposals are addressed in regards to sustainability, liveability, and viability. The urban renewal proposal of Newstead Park also accepts the current urban form without making drastic changes to Brisbane’s character and culture. Overall, the findings of this research encourages a broader framework of thinking to address ecological concerns only solvable at a larger cluster scale, and ties together the many facets of ecological preservation and its relationship with socio-economic demands to solve Brisbane’s growing sustainable problems in their urban environment.

No doubt that modern Arab literature has been influenced by Western literature more than it was influenced by ancient Arabic literature, whether by the missionaries, occupiers, merchants, and investors who arrived at Arab countries or by the scientific missions sent by Arab countries to European capitals or by Arab immigrants to the West. This influence was either through the translation, or through reading in the original languages of Western literature, and this second method was more influential in modern Arabic literature, because translation loses many of the characteristics of artistic literatures that have a close connection with the language.. We mentioned in this research the link between East and West, and between Arab literature and European literature, and the features of impact between them through the process of transferring the literary heritage from East to West through several crossings, and its study to extract the literary and cultural treasures through the efforts of missionaries from Orientalists that were the first nucleus of modern Western civilization. We also dealt with the features of renewal in Arabic literature, Arabic poetry and its schools in the modern era. We focused on the Divan school, the Apollo school and Diaspora School, especially the nature of poetry and truth of free modern realist poetry. We also mentioned the high demand for translated eastern literature in European countries, and its inclusion by the writers, poets and writers in their literary writings. We used the descriptive approach that is always suitable for such literary and critical topics.

In his collection of essays, Peasant Society and Culture, Robert Redfield stresses that peasants are men of the countryside who are tied to the land and rooted in villages and who, at the same time, must take account of the city — whether that recognition involves its political power, its marketplace, its beliefs, its style of life, or the people it produces. Redfleld calls attention to two aspects of the interaction between town and countryside. On the one hand he focuses on the linkers, whether men (e.g., dons, senoritos, mandarins, mukhtars) or institutions (temples, schools, castes, mosques, or dramatic companies) of peasants and townsmen; on the other hand he focuses on the cultural materials (beliefs, ceremonies, art forms) they exchange. In both cases Redfield is interested in the process of exchange in its “social organizational” context. That is, he is interested in the day-to-day situations in which beliefs from the “great tradition of the reflective few” are heartily rejected or wholly accepted, or more usually tolerated, accommodated, and perhaps reinterpreted by a “little tradition of the largely unreflective many” (Redfield 1958, p. 70). And he is interested in the opposite process by which the beliefs of the many are accepted or rejected, or more usually tolerated, accommodated, and/or reinterpreted by the reflective few
