This article is devoted to studying the сontemporary women’s unions history of formation as well as functioning in a single region of the Russian Federation — the Republic of Khakassia. At the same time, special attention is devoted to those whose activities in the sociopolitical and cultural life of the Republic, from our point of view, are currently most noticeable. The analysis of women’s public organizations activities in this region has shown that the women’s movement in Post-Soviet Khakassia over the past quarter of a century, despite all the difficulties of formation and development, can be characterized as a significant phenomenon in the life of the Republic. Today the vast majority of them, like before, have obvious social and humanitarian orientation. Despite the fact that almost all women’s societies currently operating in the territory of this region have their own political slogans, their main activity is still limited to helping the needy and socially vulnerable. However, the lack of efficiency and effectiveness of women’s associations is largely due to their lack of integrity and lack of unanimity of actions. In addition, the level of involvement of the Republic’s residents in women’s movements and their socio-professional composition leaves much to be desired. According to our research, the vast majority of women, mainly residents of rural areas, unfortunately, do not take any part in the social life of the region. The empirical base of the study is built upon official statistics obtained from the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of National and Territorial Policy of the Republic of Khakassia, as well as materials stored in the archives of local women’s organizations. Besides, the results of our interviews with the leaders and most active participants of these associations have been particularly valuable.

The article describes the newer works devoted to the occupation of Polish lands, especially of Warsaw during World War I. Recently, this subject, so far neglected, has drown the attention of numerous scientists, both from Poland and from abroad. Their point of view is different not only from the older perspectives, but also from the perspectives of slightly newer works on the other occupied areas and emphasizing the connection between the experience of the Great War and genocide during World War II. In the most precious fragments, the new historiography gives a very wide image of social life, in which the proper place is taken by previously marginalised social groups. Differently from the older works, the policy of the occupants on the Polish lands is not treated only as a unilateral dictate, but rather as a dynamic process of negotiation, in which the strength and position of each of the (many) sides has been changed. And, this change is accompanied by the new arrangements concerning almost all aspects of the German policy and the conditions of living during World War I.

This article uses the example of the Bashkir TRANS – Urals-South-Eastern regions of the Republic of Bashkortostan to describe the prospects for using ethno-branding tools in regional and municipal management of rural development in terms of increasing their investment and tourist attractiveness in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. From the authors' point of view, the regions of the Bashkir TRANS-Urals have a number of competitive advantages, including a rich history, unique tourist and recreational resources, and preserved traditions and customs of the indigenous Bashkir population. But in order for these advantages to contribute to the growth of investment and tourist attractiveness of these rural areas, it is necessary to create recognizable and most attractive images, ethnobrands through the active use of tools of territorial marketing and branding, in particular, ethnobranding. To increase the effectiveness of territorial ethnobranding, the authors justify the need to consolidate the efforts of Federal, regional and local authorities, the business community, research and educational institutions, and private firms professionally engaged in marketing, branding, advertising, and promotion of goods and services. City and district Administrations, business incubators in Ufa, Sterlitamak, Salavat, Oktyabrsky, information and consulting centers of municipalities, Universities, Colleges, institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and well-known consulting firms can act as coordinators and consultants in matters of territorial marketing and branding. The authors concluded that the active use of regional and municipal management tools tobringing should contribute to more effective promotion of products and services from local producers to national and international markets, increase their investment and tourist attractiveness, growth of the tourist flow in South-Eastern Bashkortostan, increase employment and quality of life of the villagers.

Competitive advantage in the professional market is shaped by the competences possessed, i.e. skills, qualifications, and permissions. One of the eight types of key competences mentioned in the European Union documents is digital competence. It is a collection of knowledge, skills, and rudiments necessary for both, the purposeful point of view and active participation of a given person in social life. The low level of digital competences possessed is particularly visible among groups at risk of digital exclusion, in particular among people living in rural areas, the elderly and people with low education. The difference between people who have access to a computer and the Internet and people who do not have the possibility to use these devices is affected by the dynamic development of information and communication technologies. Digital exclusion is not only the lack of access to the appropriate infrastructure but also the lack of computer and Internet skills. In order to counteract the exclusion of these groups, activities aimed at developing social capital by strengthening digital competences play an important role.

Agritourism as a special type of tourist migration is a very important link in the diversification of rural areas, connecting the geography, culture, tradition, and gastronomy of the local population, and placing products and services through the hospitality and tourism market. Thanks to this form of tourism, underdeveloped places are gaining in importance and attracting the attention of visitors who are oriented towards natural things, which in turn contributes to a better economic situation of the locality and the population. This paper aims to examine the attitudes of farm owners in the Republic of Serbia toward the impact of agritourism on the economy, living environment, social life, and culture. The data were collected by surveying the owners of agricultural holdings in the territory of the Republic of Serbia and statistically processed using factor analysis, descriptive statistics, and linear regression. Based on the obtained results, it has been established that the owners of agricultural farms are interested in the development of agritourism, and that their positive perception of the impact that agritourism has on the living environment and economy greatly contributes to that. To a lesser extent, a positive attitude was noted toward the importance of agrotourism for the local community and locals, where the positive aspects of agritourism were the education of visitors on agriculture, promotion of the local culture, agricultural and gastronomic products, and sustainable development and investment in infrastructure.

This thesis titled “Tobacco in the Xanthi region (1950-1974). A contemporary folkloristic point of view” refers to the Tobacco variety known worldwide as Basma, which used to be produced in the area of the Thracian town of Xanthi. The paper consists of a preface, an introduction, six chapters, conclusions, a summary in English, source references, as well as an appendix of tables, maps, documents and plates. In the first chapter, historic facts of Xanthi and Thrace are related to tobacco events, while oral narrations and local particularities are combined with historic evidence, in order to reveal the daily life of each era. In the second chapter, the natural and social environment of the Xanthi region is presented, in an attempt to search the influences of the Basma Tobacco in humanmade structures of rural and urban space. In the third chapter, a thorough analysis of local society and social formations shows that Basma Tobacco ruled over almost all aspects of social life. In the fourth chapter, Basma Tobacco is presented as a plant and as a product, showing that there exists around it a wide social network, the famous “Tobacco World”, as it is named in Greek; meanwhile folkloristic phenomena are traced down and interpreted according to their connection to Basma Tobacco. In the fifth chapter, an in-depth statistic research shows that tobacco was one of the main products in the national and local economy, which boosted trade exports and inflows in foreign currency. In the sixth chapter, tobacco in general appears as a goal of government politics, as an object of law, as a means in fiscal planning, as well as an important part in local election procedures. In brief, Basma Tobacco in the Xanthi area has been proved to be a complex social and folkloristic phenomenon, which takes part in almost all aspects of social life, while being blended within the social web in a way so as to interact mutually.
