This study analyses the representation of the loyalty of Javanese women in Indonesian folktales for children. We apply a textual analysis from the perspective of feminism and some elements of the literary sociology approach to the analysis of four Indonesian folktales. We conclude that in Indonesian folktales Javanese women are obliged to be loyal to rulers and institutions – which are functionally one and the same. Javanese women who display loyalty often earn symbolic and other benefits, while those who are disloyal or defiant meet a tragic end. The voices of women are not conveyed by the authors of the analysed texts. Therefore, Indonesian folktales impress upon young readers, particularly children, the notion that loyalty to the state and authorities is of paramount importance.

Translated children’s works from English to Chinese have flooded China unprecedentedly since the end of the 19PthP century. However, there is a discrepancy in the translation of Chinese children’s works into the English language. This is maybe because western scholars are still largely ignoring Asian texts for young readers. Therefore, the research aims to fill the gap in the scholarship by studying the translated Bronze and Sunflower, which is a renowned work written by the Chinese first Hans Christian Anderson winner Cao Wenxuan, from the aspect of narrative space. A qualitative approach is adopted to compare the similarities and differences of narrative space between the source text and the target text. The samples will be taken from Cao Wenxuan’s Bronze and Sunflower and its English translation. The textual analysis is illuminated through the narratological framework, which is based on three-layered space: The topographic level, the chronotopic level and the textual level. The study explores how narrative space is constructed in the process of translating Bronze and Sunflower. It is hoped that the findings of the study will show how space is created in a different languagea, and that the translator prefers to change the narrative space rather than keeping the same spatial structure in the target text.

The research is based on data on acts of cooperation of various peasant population categories with the revolutionary authorities. The relevance of the problem lies in the minimal study of these issues, since historiography studied mainly the conflict behavior of peasants. We point to the presence of a large number of forms of interaction between peasants both with the February and October authorities in 1917. Using the methods of textual analysis we givethe analysis of the wel-coming telegrams to the State Duma. An intermediate conclusion was made that the desire of the peasants to interact with the authorities did not lead directly to a decrease in the social conflict de-gree. Attention is drawn to the presence in 1905–1907 and 1917 so-called “zones of low activity” of peasant revolts. Asking the question about the reasons for the existence of such zones, we turn to the comparative analysis of the situation at the county-volost level (using the example of Ostrogozhsky and Bogucharsky districts), concluding that the traditional explanation of the existence of such zones with a small share of private land ownership does not fully explain the situation. An explanation of the emerging situation is offered by a more complex of socio-economic, socio-political and socio-everyday factors, as well as source problems.

The article offers an analysis of the verbal image of “love” in the poetry of Lina Kostenko, traces its lexical-associative and functional-stylistic development. Cognitive-textual analysis shows that the individual linguosophy of the image of “love” in Lina Kostenko’s poetry harmoniously combines tradition and innovation. In particular, there is a continuation of the tradition of sublime-romantic description of the feeling of love, its sacralization. The harmonization of human feelings and the state of nature characteristic of Ukrainian folk poetics, which is manifested in numerous natural-morphological metaphors, is also stated. These metaphors cover a wide range of nominative and verb images that are thematically related to plants. A typical models of metaphorization of the feeling of love – its understanding in terms of conceptospheres “fire”, “element”, “music”. Each of these models is presented from the point of view of Lina Kostenko’s individual author’s vision. The formulas for expressing the feeling of feeling “I love you”, “I think of you” are also textually productive in L. Kostenko’s poetry. Their content is often specified, express the circumstances of the mode of action, time. The affinity of L. Kostenko’s language with the vernacular is evidenced by phraseologized descriptions of love. A number of metaphors by L. Kostenko express the complexity of negative emotional phenomena and states related to love, such as “separation”, “alienation”, “pain”, “anxiety”. The most representative for L. Kostenko’s poetry positively marked lexical-associative connections of the concept of “love” include “love – a kiss” and “love – a dream”.

The article is devoted to the review of the state and prospects of the study of the preaching heritage of Anthony Radivilovsky. The study first analyzed and systematized the experience gained by the national science in the field of research sermons Anthony Radivilovsky. These are the works of literary critics and linguists (S. Azovtseva, I. Isichenko, V. Krekotnya, M. Markovsky, O. Niki), historians (J. Frederic Berkoff, M. Gracia Bartolini, M. Kostomarov), philosophers (L. Dovgа). However, most of his sermons still remain beyond the attention of scholars. This is especially true of the handwritten legacy of Radivilovsky, which was only partially studied by literary scholars and almost not considered from a philosophical point of view. The most prominent methodological basis of the study was the methods of textual analysis, comparative studies and hermeneutic one. It is shown that for today domestic science has a considerable experience in studying the sermons of Anthony Radivilovsky. It is established that the data of the research, for the most part, are fragmentary in nature and relate to the literary qualities of the preacher's work. The most signifi- cant proofs of Radivilovsky's sermons remain in the works of M. Markovsky and V. Krekotnya. Instead, the philosophical component of his texts is poorly understood and requires detailed attention as the most promising direction in the study of Antony Radivilovsky's texts. Potential directions of research of the philosophical component of Antony Radivilovsky's heritage are: the study of philosophical traditions and texts on which the work of the preacher was based; consideration of the influence of philosophical knowledge and language on the content of the sermons of Radivilovsky; an analysis of the philosophical significance problems of his legacy concerning the range of semiotic issues, in particular, the moral and ethical nature.

The Iran-Iraq War (1980–88) has been the subject of many aesthetic productions in contemporary Persian literature. The Iranian mass media during the war with Iraq described the armed conflict as holy and masculine, and propagated the replacement of the word “war” with “sacred defense” to urge authors to write within this established framework and reflect the ideals of the State. Opposed to such an ideological view of the war, the prominent Iranian novelist Ahmad Mahmoud began to express dissent in his works of fiction such as The Scorched Earth (1982). This study, therefore, analyzes Mahmoud’s scope of dissidence toward wartime propaganda and gender in the above mentioned novel to articulate how Mahmoud raises important questions regarding the State’s view of war and the established gender norms in Iran at war. It uses cultural materialist dissident reading and textual analysis to study Mahmoud’s contempt for wartime propaganda through the text’s portrayal of desperate people in Khorramshahr in the southwest of Iran caught between Iraqi airstrikes and artillery fires, and domestic problems including inflation, looting and mismanagement.

This paper aims at investigating the nostalgic impact on the characters in The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid. Nostalgia is regarded as the state of homesick or a mental sentimentality for one's past. Everyone is more or less nostalgic, and nostalgia plays a vital role in the lives and experiences of individuals in daily life. The present study is a qualitative and descriptive textual analysis. The Reluctant Fundamentalist has been examined by analyzing the words, sentences, characters and their actions from the nostalgic point of view. This study has investigated the nostalgic impact on the characters, especially on Changez and Erica, through the lens of nostalgia by focusing on their personalities, works, social lives, actions and reactions. This study has found that nostalgia influences and molds the lives and experiences of characters and individuals to an extensive extent. Changes and Erica spoil their lives but are not ready to come out of their nostalgic worlds. The Reluctant Fundamentalist has been analyzed and interpreted through different dimensions, but no one has discussed it from a nostalgia point of view before. So, this paper is a primary investigation and would surely contribute to the present stock of knowledge.

This paper is the result of a research carried out with 13 graduates of a Mathematics Degree course of a Federal Teaching Institution that did not choose teaching as a profession when graduation. Its purpose is to understand the beliefs and disbeliefs in relation to the Education of these graduates and also to know some of the (dis) motivations that led them to give up teaching as soon as they finished their degree. Of qualitative nature, the type of research was characterized as Case Study and the analyzes occurred through the Discursive Textual Analysis, giving rise to six categories: internal school processes; To overcome the traditional method of teaching; The relationships between the school and the family; The relationship between school and society; The devaluation of the state; And the hope of transformation through Education. The analyzes of the emerging categories of the answers allow to realize that the disbeliefs surpass the beliefs, which suggests to be one of the factors that collaborate for the abandonment of the teaching career soon after the conclusion of the degree. However, despite the exposed disbeliefs, the Egresses still show hope that Education is a source of social transformation.

Aspects of the nature of science in research on socioscientific issuesAbstract: The literature indicates that socioscientific issues (SSI) can facilitate the understanding of the nature of science (NOS). Based on that, the objective of this investigation is to analyze whether NOS is contemplated and, when present, which aspects of it are most addressed in the research that deals with SSI. For this end, a qualitative research of the state of knowledge type was carried out. The data was constituted in the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Catalog and interpreted through the Discursive Textual Analysis. The results indicated that the NOS is little considered in works on SSI. However, even when NOS is not part of the central objective of activities involving SSI, aspects of science appear in the discussions, among them, the most common is the influence of external factors in science. In view of these results, we argue that the potential of SSI for understanding NOS needs to be further explored. Keywords: Socioscientific Issues; Epistemology of Science; Science Education.

The history of the creation of Andrei T. Bolotov’s memoirs has been little studied. In particular, the stages of his work on this text are not entirely clear. This article is an attempt to shed light on one aspect of this problem. Bolotov’s personal fund (No. 349) in the Archives and manuscripts section of the State Historical Museum contain a manuscript of Bolotov’s memoirs entitled “Part 2”. It differs significantly in its essential characteristics (paper, design, size, composition, title, division into sections, etc.) from most manuscripts of Bolotov’s memoirs. The study presents a textual analysis of this manuscript and compares it with the text of memoirs published by Mikhail Semevsky, — the most complete printed edition of The Life and Adventures of Andrei Bolotov. The stages of Bolotov’s work on the manuscript are considered; a comparative analysis of lexical units, stylistic preferences, and the content of the manuscript is carried out. The results obtained suggest that the undated manuscript is the earliest version of the memoirs, supposedly written in the late 1770s.
